I would recommend Suzie again and again! My elderly 1.5kg yorkie is not a fan of strangers which makes leaving her in the care of pet sitters hard. Suzie was so good with her! Suzie kindly sent regular updates, which helped with my anxiety. She also left the house is great condition. I couldn’t have asked for a better pet/house sitter.

Maxine was amazing - cannot recommend her enough! We had a situation arise at last minute and needed a dog sitter.. I sent out a dozen messages to find someone. Maxine answered very quickly and said she was available.. we then had a clear conversation about my/my dogs needs where Maxine was responsive and reassuring. She arrived on time, was professional and very pleasant to talk to. My dog was very quickly comfortable with her and she recapped everything we'd spoke about previously and again I felt reassured. After a few hours she sent an update that all was well and a picture of my girl cuddled up next to her.. we had no worries that she was in the best of hands. When we returned there were no issues and another nice conversation where she debriefed us of the sitting and it was all good. My dog who is fairly anxious was completely calm when we saw her and was even sad to see Maxine go. So again.. Thank you Maxine for helping us out and anyone reading this looking for a quality sitter, look no further!

Emily has been wonderful, staying in our house and looking after Angus while we were away for 10 days. We received regular updates of their time together, hanging out, playing and on a variety of different walks. Angus has LOVED their time together and that they both looked so happy made us feel really at ease. Emily looked after our house perfectly and we will definitely ask her to have Angus again when we next go away.

Hollie was great with Mushroom - calm and friendly without letting our Mush be too much of a bossy bostie 😄 We really appreciated the meet-and-greet ahead of time and could tell straight away that Hollie was going to be a great fit for our pup. We will absolutely be booking her again. Thanks Hollie!

About: I may have no experience with my own pet, I frequently took care of my brothers, including feeding her, and taking her on walks. I would take care of her for weeks at a time. I am currently a student, but I have finished all of my lectures, so I have a lot of free time. I can follow any schedule I need to to take care of dogs. I have a big open garden where the dog can play around, and my area has a park close by, so they can get lots of needed exercise in. In the pet-owners home, I will create a schedule to follow, when to eat, go for a pee and when to take on long walks.

About: Hello there I’m Nicola, a caring and highly experienced dog walker/ sitter serving Canterbury and surrounding villages. I only look after solo pets and those from the same household. My 'speciality' is reassuring nervous dogs (as well as anxious owners!) I can be flexibly with my availability; whether you need regular weekday walks or occasional pet services. I work fully remotely so make a great daytime companion (I am a part-time researcher/ advocate for refugee rights). If you require a pet service not explicit on my profile do get in touch, I am always open to new ideas and learning new skills. I have had rescue dogs throughout my life, including "failed" police dogs and elderly dogs. Previously, I fostered Romanian rescue dogs, ahead of helping them find their forever homes. I have cared for puppies, elderly pets and those with mobility and/ or health considerations. I already have some regular dog walking Clients but have recently gained capacity to take on more work (I am new to Rover). I am now also available for pet sitting whether at my home or yours. I have an enclosed garden, and my home is located a short distance from public footpaths and fields. After saying goodbye to my beloved fur-son last year I do not currently have pets myself (still too bereft!) I have a primary school aged child who is very used to dogs of all ages and sizes (but this would need to be considered ahead of overnight stays my home). I have 25+ years' experience caring for my own/ other people's pets, including in their own homes. As well as previously fostering Romanian rescue dogs, I have cared for puppies, elderly pets and those with health considerations. I am also highly experienced in working with vulnerable people. I hold an enhanced DBS check and my own insurance.

About: Hi and Thanks so much for viewing my profile. ☺️ I’m Sangeeta (G as in Guitar). I’m a full-time creative and boarder. I work from home in and I absolutely adore animals of all kinds. Prior to lockdown, I lived and worked in New York City for many years, transferring back to be close to family in London to during the pandemic. I’ve had three dogs & three cats since childhood, learning a lot from a very young age to become a very experienced talker, walker, carer & trainer of both cats & dogs. So many people have noted over the years how I’m very intuitive with their pets. Turns out, to my surprise, I am. Though I haven’t yet perfected the art of animal communication, it helps me appreciate first-hand, reach pet/s unique personality and traits. (They decide whether to communicate). Most often I host pets from one family at a time and take great care to make sure they feel safe, comfortable and at home with me; making space so they can spread out as well as snuggle up close beside me. Typically care includes, feeding, walking, bathing and giving medication, as well as extra snacks and dedicated playtime. I lost my little songwriting partner and Boycat Kai in 2023. He was Maine Coon rescue, who climbed into my arms at just 8 months old and flew 1st class with me back to the UK. We lived a wonderful life travelling the world, making music and “mischief” until his peaceful transition, 17 years later. So I hope it goes without saying - caring for animals brings me a lot of joy. I really do treat them as one of my own. From visiting friends/family to creative meetings or even a short trip, they’re always welcome to join me (if appropriate) and I am fully insured to care for them. And since there’s ample room here to ensure dedicated spaces, I’m able to host pets from more than one family too. Especially those who’ve met beforehand and already know each other - they have the best time together. New clients are always welcome so please feel free to reach out and schedule a meet and greet anytime. I also recommend booking a short stay at first. This way your pet/s and I will have time to become acquainted and helps to ensure they’re comfy with longer stays. I sincerely welcome the opportunity to meet you as well as answer any questions and perhaps at some point welcome your VIP as my guest. (Very Important Pet/s). Sangeeta ⭐️🙏🏼🐶😻 Please note: Since I have bookings over the holidays (Late Nov-Early Jan), I tend to take some time for me Mid Sept-Early Nov). I’m always flexible however. Also, Rover commission applies both ways so please don’t be put off. Additional Info: Our schedule during their stay is organised around their comfort and well-being as the priority. I work from home and have a lot of flexibility. I’m always open to a meet and greet beforehand or a “practice” stay. It matters to me your pet feels at home with me, just as I treat as my very own. I am happy to accept more than one but they’ll most likely be my only fur guest during their stay, unless they are from the same household or already know each other. I like to be able to give them my full attention and have free rein in my home. If you do book an extended stay, they can travel and stay overnight there with me too. Whatever the case, I’ll always check with you beforehand, anyway. ☺️ I’m very vigilant - animal safety comes first. I have a fenced garden and live in a bungalow with plenty of space for safety, comfort and quiet. If they are ok to be left at home alone whilst I pop out, rest assured I’ll be keeping an eye on them over WiFi. I love sharing updates and happy moments, so you’ll have plenty of photos and videos each day and throughout their stay, or as you prefer. Also, do let me know if im over-sharing, 😂

We booked Rebecca for 1 week of house sitting for our dog, Logan, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Before our trip, we managed to arrange a few meet-ups so Logan could get comfortable with her and she could get to know him well too. Logan was always so happy to see her, which gave us a lot of confidence leaving him in her care. Logan has some special conditions and routines, and Rebecca followed all instructions very carefully. She was also great at asking questions whenever she needed clarification rather than making assumptions, which we really appreciated. Her communication throughout the stay was excellent. She kept us updated regularly with messages and photos about Logan’s daily life, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. It was clear Logan was receiving lots of love, care, and attention. When we returned home late at night from our holiday, the house was incredibly tidy and well looked after. Rebecca made sure everything was in order and nothing was missed before we got back. We’re very grateful for all her help and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy pet sitter.

Annabelle was absolutely fantastic while looking after our home and our three pets during our holiday. From the start, her professionalism and genuine warmth gave us complete peace of mind. Our puppy was thoroughly spoiled with long walks, playtime, and plenty of affection, we returned to find him relaxed and happy. Our cat, who is usually reserved with new people, quickly took to her and was clearly very happy in the picture updates we received. Even our rabbit, who can be very particular about company, was wonderfully looked after and seemed to even like Annabelle, which is very high praise considering how much he usually only likes my partner! The house was immaculate when we returned, and it was evident that Annabella had cared for everything with great attention and respect. Her communication throughout was excellent, with regular updates and photos that made being away so much easier. We couldn’t recommend Annabella highly enough, she’s responsible, kind, and goes above and beyond in every way. We’ll definitely be asking her to house and pet sit for us again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Canterbury on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 753 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Canterbury. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Canterbury walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Canterbury choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
