“Lucinda was amazing with Rex, took him for walks even in the rain. He seems to have had an amazing holiday. It was his first time staying overnight at a different place and Lucinda made sure he was happy and felt safe. We arranged a meet up before the date and has kept me informed about what Rex has been up to and how he was. I will be booking Lucinda again in the future. Thank you so much”

“Peter is of very high standard. We have the very high regard for him. Angel loves him and is very happy playing with Mitzy. Nothing is to much for him. I wouldn't want anyone else to look after Angel. Angel was very shy of other dogs but now she is much better. Thanku so much Peter Valerie and Bob”

“My dog Rupert has just finished his stay with Edward. I can’t thank him enough, he did a great job of taking care of him. Lots of lovely, varied walks and lots of playtime. I think Rupert was sorry to leave Edward’s house. Edward was a great communicator and sent many pictures and videos of Rupert during his stay which made me confident that Rupert was in good hands. I would book Edward again.”

“WJ is the best sitter I've ever used! I have been using WJ for the best part of this year and cant thank her enough for how much care and attention she's gives Enzo. Every time I drop him off he cries from excitement because of how much he loves his time with you. I always have peace of mind that Enzo is not only safe but enjoying his time. Recommend WJ for any and all of your sitting needs.”

“Jelena was absolutely marvelous!! She has a natural affinity with dogs and Lola had a lovely stay. She had lots of exercise and was very well looked after. Every day we received pictures of our happy girl having a wonderful time. Thanks again Jelena and see you next time!”

“Sarah was brilliant with our cockapoo, plenty of photos and videos letting us know how he was doing and accommodating to his dietary requirements etc. Will 100% recommend and use again ⭐️”

About: Hello there I’m Nicola, a caring and highly experienced dog walker/ sitter serving Canterbury and surrounding villages. I only look after solo pets and those from the same household. My 'speciality' is reassuring nervous dogs (as well as anxious owners!) I can be flexibly with my availability; whether you need regular weekday walks or occasional pet services. I work fully remotely so make a great daytime companion (I am a part-time researcher/ advocate for refugee rights). If you require a pet service not explicit on my profile do get in touch, I am always open to new ideas and learning new skills. I have had rescue dogs throughout my life, including "failed" police dogs and elderly dogs. Previously, I fostered Romanian rescue dogs, ahead of helping them find their forever homes. I have cared for puppies, elderly pets and those with mobility and/ or health considerations. I already have some regular dog walking Clients but have recently gained capacity to take on more work (I am new to Rover). I am now also available for pet sitting whether at my home or yours. I have an enclosed garden, and my home is located a short distance from public footpaths and fields. After saying goodbye to my beloved fur-son last year I do not currently have pets myself (still too bereft!) I have a primary school aged child who is very used to dogs of all ages and sizes (but this would need to be considered ahead of overnight stays my home). I have 25+ years' experience caring for my own/ other people's pets, including in their own homes. As well as previously fostering Romanian rescue dogs, I have cared for puppies, elderly pets and those with health considerations. I am also highly experienced in working with vulnerable people. I hold an enhanced DBS check and my own insurance.
“Elisa and her lovely family are fantastic! Lulu loves staying with them all and gets thoroughly spoilt with lots of walks and cuddles. We have absolute peace of mind when Elisa looks after Lulu.”

“I was looking for a place where my spaniel would feel as if she was at a home from home I had to leave her for a night over the Christmas holiday period. Lizzie and her family fitted the brief perfectly; they were welcoming and relaxed and immediately made me feel that Molly would be fine with them. Lizzie sent me pictures of how she was settling in over the period and set my mind at ease. I wouldn't hesitate in using Lizzie again, or recommending her to anyone I know who has a dog and needs a trustworthy sitter.”

About: I just love animals!!! I’ve taken care of dogs of all different breeds and sizes from a very young age. I grew up with 2 dogs constantly around and as I grew I gained more responsibility looking after them. Enjoying this led me to pursue looking after other people’s lovely dogs and cats etc. I have looked after lots of animals at this point - including a Turtle while the owners were in Japan! I am caring, loving and provide an excellent service for any animal. I am incredibly attentive and have an in depth understanding of the requirements of different and animals/ breeds. My cat and dogs will testify to this along with all the happy customers I have looked after! Working from home allows me to pay far more attention to pets than I probably should! I work fully remotely as a Project Manager in Canterbury and have a flexible schedule. I am available for sitting through the day, any day of the week and also for over night stays. I would ensure whatever pet I was taking care of received the best and most effective care. To ensure this happens I would have a discussion prior to any visits/ walks to ensure your wants and expectations of my service can be met. Within this I would also want to cover any specific requirement of your pet - ie current commands and training.
“Annabel and her partner were absolutely brilliant! Really reliable, understanding and were really friendly! They kept me updated frequently about Sonny and how he was settling in, would definitely book again, Highly recommended! Thank You!!”

“Fantastic service from kayleigh and my Luna came home very happy which was a pleasure to hear as she had never stayed with anyone before. I was made to feel welcome and relaxed so thank you for your effort and wonderful service”

“Sophie and Matt looked after Tessa for a week for us while were away. Sophie kept us updated daily with pictures and messages. Tessa was happy and made herself at home quickly! She's come home a happy and healthy dog and has loved her river side walks. She's always happy and knows her way to their door when we've booked a stay. Thank you. So glad we've found you!”

“Lisa was brilliant. She looked after our little Shih Tzu on her first overnight stay. She had a great time with the other doggos and made a new best friend with Lisa's daughter. We got lots of updates and photos which was great. Will definitely use Lisa again the next time ☺️”

“I recently booked an overnight stay for my boy Tate, and it was his very first night away from us. Although there were a few challenges from him, the communication throughout was excellent and really put us at ease. She treated Tate like an absolute king Lab, patient, caring, and completely dedicated to making him comfortable. It was clear he was in safe, loving hands. I didn’t hesitate to book back in, and I’m genuinely grateful for the kindness you and your family showed him. Highly recommended.”

“Yevgeniia took great care of Toby and was supportive with his needs and made him feel relaxed and settled whilst we were at work. With a lot of knowledge of dog behaviours, I would feel confident in Toby staying again and would recommend. Thank you for your support :)”

We couldn't fault Hannah at all. She was so friendly from the start and made us feel completely at ease leaving Luna with her. Luna had the best time, especially being with Hannah and her boys! We received lots of lovely photos throughout Luna's stay, which was so reassuring and showed just how happy and well looked after she was. Luna can be quite needy, but that didn't phase Hannah or her family at all, they gave her so much love and attention. I honestly don't think Luna wanted to come home! We wouldn't hesitate to book with Hannah again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, friendly, and reliable dog sitter.

Excellent service from Hollie who took the time and trouble to walk Teddy late in the evening during the recent VERY HOT weekend. Hollie made Teddy feel at home and made sure he had a cool spot in the house. We received regular updates and photos. Teddy was very relaxed, happy and comfortable. I would certainly recommend Hollie and will most definitely book again.

Couldn’t recommend Kayleigh enough! She is a fantastic communicator; it was so easy organising our dogs stay and she sent lots of photos during it. She was reassuring and understood it’s can make you a bit nervous leaving your dog somewhere; we felt our dog was very safe. She is also incredibly welcoming and kind too. She welcomed us into her home to see where our dog would be staying. You can tell she loves dogs and is very experienced with them. Our dog had a better holiday than we did (and ours was great)!. Would use Kayleigh again in a heartbeat!

Valeriia is hands down the best sitter we've ever had on Rover. She looked after our two dogs, Fendi and Choo, for nearly a month while we were abroad, and we genuinely couldn't have asked for better care. She treated them like her own babies from day one. Throughout the whole stay she kept us constantly updated with a steady stream of photos and messages, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. You could see from every picture how happy and comfortable they were with her. When we got back, both dogs were relaxed, happy and clearly had the best time. That says everything about the love and attention she gave them. We can't recommend Valeriia highly enough and we'll absolutely be booking her again. If you're looking for someone who will truly care for your dogs like family, she's the one. Thank you, Valeriia!
I can’t praise enough how amazing and wonderful Marie is with our amazing little man Marlow. Marie is every dog owners dream and when you drive away when dropping him off and he doesn’t look back then you know he’s happy. Marie has looked after Marlow for four years and we have actually cancelled holidays if Marie is not available. Thats says it all Thank you Marie

Sangeeta is great! Very kind, responsive, and welcoming. We had a meet and greet before booking the stay, which was lovely since the pups were familiar with her and her house when it came time for their vacation. We received lots of pictures and videos and could tell our babies were well taken care of while we are gone. Would definitely book again.

Yet again, another wonderful stay with Monica and her family. From the moment Ottie approaches Monica's house her tail is wagging and she can't wait to get in and see everyone again. Monica is brilliant. Ottie has fun with games, children to play with and love and attention. We have been so very lucky to find such a fantastic person to take care of Ottie. Obviously, we HIGHLY recommend Monica

Rachel helped us at very short notice as we needed a sitter for a one off occasion. Rachel was very prompt and thorough in her communication with us and, most importantly, our dog Coco had a great day with her! She kept us updated with photos and notes about what they were doing which was lovely. She obviously loves dogs! Thank you Rachel

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
