“Amy was an amazing dog sitter! We had a two week trip that she took care of both our dogs by house sitting in our home. She is a great communicator and kept us updated on our older pup as she needed to be seen by the vet shortly after we left due to getting anxious causing her to get sick. Amy was great, daily picture updates and never had any concerns about the dogs’ care. Thanks so much Amy!!”
“My Doggies are very nervous with people and they seemed to be more comfortable with Emely. She left me a clean house as I left it. And took good care of my Doggies per my instructions . We were able to discuss a schedule that would be best for my babies. She texted me and sent me cute photos regularly. Thanks so much Emely. I would book again.”

“Cynder is the best! We use her anytime we leave town. Rico hurt his leg during a stay and Cynder was communicative with us and took extra care for him. I’d recommend her to everyone to take care of your babies. She treats them as her own!”

About: My childhood was surrounded by dogs. When I was 12, I had to completely take care of 4 pit bulls, a Dotson, a mixed breed medium sized dog, and 3 cats. I have watched a few friends and family's pets over the years. Before I moved here, I actually helped my cousin take care of his senior husky with low energy that needed shots for a medical condition and a 2 year old German shepherd with all the energy in the world. My foster mom also bred pugs for a living, and have had to help the momma pug give birth while my foster parents were gone. I also have a 4 year old female Black Mouth Cur named Ava, that I have had since 6 months old, and a 2 year old male pitbull terrier rescue named Bosco, that I have had for a year and counting. He is full of fear and needs a lot of patience to work through it, but after 5 months of touch and go work, he now knows what play is and has his own toys! He also is scared to eat or seems to not know what his feeding bowl is, but after different ways to show that feeding time is okay, he is slowly gaining the weight he should be at! Treats were his sweet spot for knowing it is a safe place, and my sweet Ava sped the process for getting him comfortable in his new home and now commandeers my clothing to sleep with in his bed. Due to Bosco being a rescue and has become very protective is why I can't offer in home sitting in my home but am open to dog sitting at client's homes. I am currently a new stay at home mom. I take care of my two boys and my two fur babies. I am more than ready to help others with their fur babies. Due to behavior of one of my dogs, I would not be able to comfortably care for your fur babies in my own home, but I will do the utmost care for your fur babies in your home! Give me all the rules you need followed; Outside during certain times, feeding strategies, don't sit in a certain spot or area in the home. Nothing is too much to handle! I have even taken care of dogs with potty issues and needed baths for their health care and hygiene of your home.

“Miranda did a fantastic job with my Dax. Was worried about leaving my boy with just anybody but Miranda gave me daily updates and this really put my mind at ease and was able to enjoy my vacation without worrying how my Dax was doing. I needed to stay an extra day and this was not a problem for Miranda. I would recommend Miranda to anyone who needs a sitter. I’ll be using her again in a couple of weeks”

“Angie took care of our Havanese! She stayed at the house for 3 days, 2 nights. She is very caring to dogs and the house was clean and tidy when we returned. Thank you Angie!”

“Michael is the perfect sitter! He gave us regular updates, managed our dog’s reactivity with patience and skill, and was very accommodating to our requests. Big thanks to Michael we were able to have a stress-free and relaxing vacation knowing our dog was in good hands.”

“Megan did an absolutely outstanding job. All of our pets immediately fell in love with her. She kept us posted with photos and we could see they were happy and cared for the whole time. Megan is very professional and we intend to use her next time we go out of town. 😁”

“Tyler is a great sitter! I was fortunate that he was available on very short notice. He came to meet my 3 dogs and was up to the level of care I expected. He is very good with communicating and unafraid to ask questions. I believe he took great care of the dogs because they were fine when I came home and there wasn't anything unusual in their behavior.”
“Hannah was so sweet and took such amazing care of my little guy!! It shows how much she really cares and the photo updates were super reassuring and helped put me at ease from being away from my doggy. I would highly recommend Hannah to anyone!!”

“Rachel was fantastic from the beginning: communication was easy, my dog was super comfortable during the pre-booking meet and greet, and the sitting went flawless. I’ll definitely try to book again next time!”

“It’s always nerve‑racking to have a stranger in your home taking care of your baby, but Chris put us at ease on the first day. He cared for our dog in our home for 8 days and exceeded every expectation — punctual, communicative, and deeply attentive to our pup’s needs. We received updates twice a day with no fewer than 15 photos each day; the pictures were incredible — Chris could easily be a professional “pooch photographer." Chris even went as far as to bathe him. Our dog clearly loved the walks and playtime. It’s rare to find someone so trustworthy and compassionate; we’ll definitely book Chris again and highly recommend him to anyone needing a dependable in‑home dog sitter.”

“Viviva was fantastic with my dog while I was away. She’s dependable, kind, and truly attentive. I felt completely comfortable leaving my pup in her care and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great sitter.”

“My 4 month old puppy LOVES Laney!!! She takes such great care with him and makes sure to ask questions in order to meet his needs. (He has trouble calming down and taking his naps lol). I am so thankful for Laney’s care for him and can actually spend the day at work focused instead of worrying about him. Thank you Laney!!!!”

“Jocelyn is fantastic. She always goes above and beyond. For this stay she put our trash cans on the curb. We didn’t even ask her to, she just did it. But most importantly, our dog loves her. Jocelyn is super responsible and great with dogs”

“Heather is great! First of all, Heather truly loves and respects pets. It is very reassuring to know your pets will be well taken care of. She will send cute pictures every day of your precious pets. Heather is effecient and knowledgeable and follows up with what ever schedule you give her. She will leave your house in perfect condition and you will find your pets relaxed and unstressed. We recommend her 100%!!”

“Janet is an All Star! I was hesitant to get a pet sitter, but meeting Janet immediately put me at ease. She was great with communication, trustworthy and professional. But, most important, my little anxious puppy is still looking for her after she left! I will rebook with Janet again.”

“Kinan was amazing! I received daily updates with pictures that I so appreciated while I was out of town. He left my house cleaner than I left it! I will be rebooking Kinan again and again!”

Jo is super sweet and friendly, took such amazing care of my little dog, she sent me updates and photos as well which eased any anxiety i had. She also left my home in great condition and i came back from my vacation to see my dog in a happy mood. I would 100% book her again and recommend her to anyone!!

We had such a wonderful experience with Devon! She went above and beyond to make sure our dogs felt safe and comfortable during the Fourth of July fireworks. She also kept us updated throughout her stay with messages and photos, so we always knew how they were doing. It was clear she genuinely cared for our dogs, and they were calm and well cared for when we got home. We are so grateful for her kindness, reliability, and excellent communication, and we would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

Whitney was so great to our high energy Border Collie/Australian Shepherd and our big boss cat. She sent us many photos of them and kept us informed on what the gang was doing. We've had a few dog sitters that didn't met our expectations, but Whitney is one of our top favorites and will be using her again. She met with us on short notice and was happy to reach out if she had questions.

Yubia is a great sitter and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter/house sitting. She was responsive and reliable during a busy period and sent us regular updates. There were no doubts that our 3 dogs were being cared for under Yubia's care. We plan to work with Yubia for all of our dog sitting needs.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sun Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sun Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sun Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
