“Evan took great care of our 3 year old pointer while we were away for the weekend. He was very thoughtful about letting her get used to him and feel comfortable and made sure she had regular walks. Evan sent us plenty of updates and photos and he was very respectful of our house and left it spotless. We will definitely be booking Evan again and highly recommend him.”

“Angie was wonderful during her 3-night stay at my home with my dog. She was kind, attentive, and took such great care of him while I was away. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was in caring hands. I truly appreciated her communication and the care she showed. I would absolutely have Angie stay again and highly recommend her!”

“Helen did an awesome job sitting Remi and Jett! Her calm, sweet demeanor made her the perfect match for our furbies. She was prompt and thorough - reaching out with questions and updates. We’re grateful for the peace of mind she provided us!! I would highly recommend Helen! We will be utilizing her services again in the near future.”

“My golden retrievers think Michael is amazing and so do we. He is conscientious about keeping them engaged with toys, walks and swimming. He always leaves our house just as he found it. He consistently goes above and beyond which is very much appreciated and eliminates any possible anxiety in leaving the dogs in his care.”

“Sofia has gone above and beyond caring for our 4 dogs while we were out of town. Her sweetness and attention to detail with our dogs, made us feel not worried. Usually our dog Feebs barks at sitters, and she didn’t with Sofia. We would definitely love to bring her to sit for us again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you!!!!”

“Kalle was great!!! She was very thorough in her questions to make sure she understood my instruction s since this was her first time. She went above an beyond what was expected. My Cali was looking for her the day after I returned home.”

“Niles is AMAZING! We have a nervous chihuahua that never calms but Niles was able to get him to settle so well! We had a great experience and have already booked for another house sitting! I felt so much better this vacation knowing Niles was with my boys!”

“Kinan was a perfect house guest and pup sitter. We came home to happy dogs and a clean home. We can’t say enough good things about him. If you are in need of someone, he is a great choice. We will be using him when we need a pup sitter again.”

“Catherine was so attentive to our dog Rae! She sent plenty of pics and I also felt super comfortable with her staying in our home. She left the place perfect! Will definitely reach out to her again!”

“Renee was so amazing and will definitely use her again. She took care of our girls very well, walking them 2-3 times each day and giving them lots of attention. Made me feel at peace knowing our dogs got the care they needed. She also watered some of my plants, and without asking took our trash out so we didn’t miss the pickup. Thank you Renee!”

“Cat M. did an excellent job with my dog, Maggie. Cat walked Maggie twice a day and she even bathed her after Maggie had rolled in the dirt. My house was in the same condition as when I left it, which was greatly appreciated. Cat even spent her own time with me after I returned to teach me some tricks to use when taking Maggie for a walk, as Maggie is a puller and she is reactive to other dogs. Cat has been the best pet sitter through Rover that I’ve had in the past and I will definitely book with her again.”

“Antoinette is responsible, attentive, and friendly! For my first booking with her, she watched my cat for five nights. She set up an in-person meeting beforehand and paid careful attention to his food and play preferences. She also sent photos updates with each meal, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. She even brought in a package for me without having to ask. I’d happily book her again!”

About: My family and I have owned pets since I can remember. I am currently 33 with 3 pets of my own, but have grown up with pets in the home my whole childhood. My family always had dogs and cats in our home, and additionally I owned a bearded dragon, fish, and a tortoise that I helped care for daily. Once I moved to college in 2014, I got my first pet of my own. Her name is Stella and she has been with me for the last 12 years. She has lived with me in Oregon, Texas, and now Reno. Additionally, my wife and I have a silly orange cat named Nemo, and a fun/energetic Frenchie named Comet. While living in Texas we adopted another cat with FeLV who also developed diabetes. I have experience giving insulin injections and taking blood glucose readings. I have met and cared for many of my friend’s pets of all ages and sizes and can responsibly provide all daily care for your furry babies as needed. This includes but is not limited to feeding, walking, playing, transporting, giving oral meds, and subcutaneous injections. I currently work as a teacher and have extended breaks during the fall, winter, and summer. During the school year I will have availability during afternoons and evenings for some care activities, and weekends for more. During breaks, if not traveling, and I will have a lot more flexibility daily. Update 06/08: I am currently on summer break from teaching. My weekday availability has been updated with more available times/ services. I currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment with my 2 dogs and an indoor cat. The pets have access to the entire unit including furniture during the day and when sleeping. Our spare bedroom can be used for your pet if they are more anxious and want separation from the other animals. My dogs are crated when no one is home to supervise, and the cat has full access to the unit at all times. My pets are all friendly towards other dogs and cats. In the past when sitting for animals, I have them fall into the same routines as my animals for walking, feeding, pottying, and crating, unless specified different by the owner. When doing drop ins and house sitting, I follow all instructions left by the owner.
“I'm not even sure where to begin with my gratitude for Angie and the way that she cared for our two dogs. We went on a 10-day vacation, and she stayed in our home with our 15-year-old dog and our eight-year-old dog. Angie contacted me multiple times per day with pictures and texts to let me know how the dogs were doing. She took them on walks, fed them, comforted them, and she did an amazing job managing our older dogs medications. I could tell through her communication that our dogs were in excellent hands. Sadly, three days into our trip our older dog suffered a seizure and Angie kept me abreast of any changes. The day after the seizure, our dog passed away at home and Angie nursed her into her passing. This by far was one of the most devastating things to have happen while on vacation. Angie worked with my dear friend and took care of our sweet dog until the very end. Angie not only loved our dog as she passed, she loved and cared for our younger dog in a way that I can never repay her. I had no idea when I ventured onto Rover that I would find such a kind soul to love our dogs. I will forever be grateful to her and I hope that this review can help someone feel comforted in putting their trust in Angie.”

“Josh was amazing with my Gypsy. I have always left her with a family member but Josh is now my official pet setter. He is caring and treated my dog as his own. He stayed at my home and took care of it like it was his own. I would highly recommend him as a pet setter. He is five stars all the way.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Verdi
Helen is amazing! She was so patient and understanding with my rescue boy who has trust issues and gets very nervous around new people (from his past life), and my high-energy, crazy 2-year-old puppy. She did a fantastic job of taking care of them and also following instructions and recommendations for our specific exercise regimen and was great about sending photos, videos, updates and was super responsive in providing additional information when I asked for additional or other details. I returned home to happy, content pups and the house was excellent shape! I already booked her, again. Thank you, Helen!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Verdi
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 763 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Verdi. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Verdi walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Verdi maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Verdi choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Verdi. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
