“Aaron is wonderful! He is very sweet and caring to our 14 year old lab, and took our rambunctious young boxer on long hikes. He kept us updated throughout the 'tour of duty' and left the house absolutely spotless. We would definitely ask him to care for our boys again.”

“Tyler is a great sitter! I was fortunate that he was available on very short notice. He came to meet my 3 dogs and was up to the level of care I expected. He is very good with communicating and unafraid to ask questions. I believe he took great care of the dogs because they were fine when I came home and there wasn't anything unusual in their behavior.”
“Evan was a great house/dog sitter for my 12 year old Aussie!! He sent several pictures so I know she was getting lots of the love and attention! I appreciated that he asked questions to make sure he was taking proper care of her. All of this made me feel comfortable leaving my dog for the weekend. He also left the house very clean showing respect for my property. I hope to use Evan again!!”

“Jennifer did an amazing job of taking care of our dogs as well as my son‘s girlfriend‘s dog and my daughter‘s cat! She also watered our plants and took great care of our home. She sent pictures with updates on her pets, which is very considerate. We will be calling her again for future pet sitting. I would recommend highly!”

“I would give Terika and Dylan 10 stars if it were an option. They were outstanding! I have two large dogs that are not always friendly. They both loved Terika and Dylan right away. Several hours after I left for my trip, my house had to be evacuated due to a large, fast moving wildfire. Terika and Dylan took my dogs to their house, but it was evacuated a few hours later. They moved with the dogs a second time and were out of the houses for a few days. They were excellent at keeping me updated as to how everyone was doing during this stressful time. When I returned home, everyone was safe and happy. I would highly recommend Terika and Dylan to anyone looking for house sitters. They will take loving care of your fur babies.”

“Hannah was super sweet, and did a great job taking care of Sierra and the house. She asked lots of good questions during the meet and greet, and came by again to do a little practice walk so she’d feel equipped to work with Sierra’s reactivity issues. She was really good about staying in touch and communicating, and asked questions if she had them. She was great and will definitely be reaching out again!”

About: I've loved dogs for my entire life and was fortunate enough to get one of my one when I was 13. I love taking care of my dog and spending time with her. I enjoy spending time with other peoples dogs just as much. I am currently in college at UNR and would love to make some extra money doing somethingi enjoy. I am currently working three days a week (mon - wed) and am fully available all other days of the week. I don't currently live with a puppy of my own so I would love to spend more of my time around dogs. I spent over five years being one of the main care takers of my first dog. As a yellow lab she is very energetic and loves walks and playing fetch but also likes to sleep and lounge around. So I have experience with different personalities and energy levels.
“Windsor was wonderful with our dog and cat> she took great care of our house and animals while we were out of town. Easy to communicate with and responds quickly. We would love to use her again!”

About: I helped my mom take care of 4 boxers growing up which we bought as puppies. I love taking care and watching my friend’s pets. I am also an experienced RN just taking a break from nursing. I will treat your pet as family. I am willing to fit your pet care in to my daily routine. Some times I have trouble waking up in the morning but I am motivated to make money right now. I don’t think having pets in my home would be best. My normal job is RN, moved here from PA, taking some time to collect myself in between jobs and find a travel assignment that works for me. I will treat your pet like it is my family. Thank you for your interest and consideration.
About: I have cared for dogs and cats for nearly my entire life. I understand that pets are part of the family, and your animal’s safety, comfort, and routine will always come first. I pride myself on my ability to follow any and all instructions or procedures necessary, and your pet will hardly notice that you aren’t at home! My schedule is very flexible, and I can be around as much or as little as your pets need me. I am available any day of the week! I treat everyone’s home and property as if it were my own. I realize that letting a stranger into your safe space is a huge deal, and I will always do everything in my power to make the experience easy on you. Enjoy your trip and let me handle the pets!
“Scott was great with our anxious pitbull. We had a last minute request over a holiday weekend & he was very flexible, punctual & kind. We hope to use him again - highly recommend!”

I do my best to love on your fur baby while you’re gone. I have a lot of flexibility. I enjoy the company and walk daily. i work at home so that can be helpful. I treat you pet like family & I generally enjoy keeping in touch with pictures to the families ❤️ I make sure my home is clean and safe, also within a fenced yard, and on a leash when out. Being mindful of where abouts at all times.
“Alejandra took such great care of our pittie Big Lady. She sent updates and pictures daily. I would highly recommend using Alejandra and we will definitely use her again!”

About: Ive grown up with pets. I've taken care of dogs, cats, turtles, guinea pigs, etc. Ive cared for my pets and ive taken care of my friends', family's, and even co-worker's pets. I enjoy doing it and love to make the owners feel comfortable leaving them with someone they trust. As a dog owner currently, I feel better when I entrust my dog (my son) to someone they can feel happy with rather than being alone all day long. I have afternoons off as well as the full weekends. I'm available weekends for boarding. I am free for afternoon walks and playtime. Early morning food? I can do that. Does your pup need a ride anywhere, i can do that as well. I am very respectful of other's homes and feel that it is good to clean up toys after pups playtime and ensure the area of eating is kept clean. Being very attentive of dogs expressions and signals to go outside to ensure no accidents happen. If they are puppies, being on schedule or helping start a schedule to get them potty trained. Any rough play from larger dogs are best to be done outside to avoid accidents. This way the doggy is safe but also can freely have fun. I have experience with small and large dogs.
About: I’m new to Truckee after recently moving from Denver, where I had an amazing group of regular Rover clients and pets I cared for. I’m excited to start building those same relationships here in Tahoe! 🐾 I have over 15 years of animal care and ownership experience and have been around dogs and cats my entire life. I’m reliable, communicative, and take the trust of caring for someone’s pet seriously. Many of my Rover clients in Denver became regular weekly clients, and I loved building relationships with both them and their pets over the past 2 years. I have a 3-year-old golden retriever, George, who is playful, sweet, and loves people and other dogs. If your pup enjoys some company, George would love to meet them too! ❤️ I’m comfortable with senior pets, medications, and multiple animals at once. I’ve also volunteered with the Humane Society and fostered a litter of newborn kittens, bottle-feeding them back to health and finding them loving homes. I work from home, so my schedule is flexible for walks, drop-ins, playtime, and companionship. I’m also happy to help with one-off visits if you’re in Tahoe for skiing, a lake day, dinner, or any adventure where your pup can’t tag along! Can’t wait to meet you and your furry family! 🐾 Given my flexible schedule, I can easily schedule walks, drop-in visits, or playtime throughout the day. Let me know how we can work together on availability! I’m dependable, detail-oriented, and truly passionate about caring for animals. My goal is for parents to have peace of mind and complete confidence that your baby is safe and in great hands. My golden retriever, George, is my best friend and constant companion. He’s happy, healthy, and well-loved, and I’d treat your pet with the exact same level of care and affection.
“Dustin was great with my little pack of 3 and kept me in the loop with pictures, videos, and good communication through the weekend. I have 1 who can be shy and standoffish to new people, and typically will mope in his kennel the whole time, everytime I’m gone. He got zoomies as soon as he met Dustin and not only didn’t stay mopey during Dustin’s time watching them, but actually played with Dustin & seemed to have a great time! I would happily book with him again and recommend to others”

“Natalie was fantastic, we’d trust her with our dog again in heartbeat. She’s a great communicator and clearly a dog person because Lou took to her immediately. Can’t recommend enough!”

“Kinan was amazing! I received daily updates with pictures that I so appreciated while I was out of town. He left my house cleaner than I left it! I will be rebooking Kinan again and again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 844 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mystic. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mystic walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mystic maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mystic choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mystic. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
