We met Angie a couple of days prior. Angie and Joshua hit it off immediately. Angie kept us informed with pictures and texts regarding Joshua. He was lonely when we left, however, Angie was able to divert his attention elsewhere. I would definitely request Angie to take care of our pup in the future.

Kinan was a perfect house guest and pup sitter. We came home to happy dogs and a clean home. We can’t say enough good things about him. If you are in need of someone, he is a great choice. We will be using him when we need a pup sitter again.

Nina was so wonderful with our Aussie. We got lots of pictures and updates during our time away. Professional communication before during and after her stay. House was neat and clean when she left. And of course, our dog loved her. Highly recommend.

Dustin was very prompt with communication and sent frequent pictures and videos of our pups on our trip. Our older dog can be stubborn and picky about taking her meds, and he was patient with her and able to get her to take her medications, so that really says a lot to us. We will be using Dustin’s services again for our next trip in October too.

Janet is an All Star! I was hesitant to get a pet sitter, but meeting Janet immediately put me at ease. She was great with communication, trustworthy and professional. But, most important, my little anxious puppy is still looking for her after she left! I will rebook with Janet again.

About: My background in education means I am naturally organized, highly communicative, and used to following detailed plans. I approach pet care with the same level of preparation and structure I bring to my professional life. My schedule is perfectly built for dedicated pet care. As a teacher, my workday ends early, allowing me to be at your home and focused on your pets by 3 PM. This means your furry family members won't have to wait until the evening for their afternoon walk, potty break, or mid-day cuddles. Because I offer overnight stays, I provide a consistent presence in your home. Your pets get a seamless transition from my mid-afternoon arrival through their evening feeding and morning routine. This schedule ensures they receive plenty of quality time, mental stimulation, and a comforting face nearby throughout the night I care for your pets by becoming a seamless part of their daily routine. From mid-afternoon walks to overnight companionship, I provide a structured, loving environment that keeps them happy in the place they feel safest—their own home.

Impossible to get a better person to look after your pet. Except for yourself 😊. Chris stayed with our yellow lab Toby at our house for 8 nights and was his best friend during that time. He paid so much attention to him, exercised him, treated him like his own pup. I was so worried to leave him (a bit of a helicopter mama here lol) for so long but I was quickly very reassured and saw that Toby had likely better time with Chris than us. We received so many pictures and videos every day. And he was smiling in all of them. Very few sitters on Rover will agree not to leave your pet alone for more than 4 hours. Never an issue with Chris, day or night. If you need a genuine honest friendly attentive kind person for your pet, look no more. And he left the house perfectly clean! Thank you Chris!!!

About: Hi! I'm Megan, a dog lover in South Reno who treats every pup like my own. With a life-long passion for our best friends, I offer reliable dog walking and in-home sitting services tailored to your dog's needs and your schedule. Whether your best friend needs a brisk 30- or 60-minute walk to burn energy, midday potty breaks while you're at work, or cozy overnight stays in a calm home environment, I'm here to provide attentive, loving care. I specialize in: Daily dog walking (solo or small groups for compatible pups) Drop-in visits Overnight sitting/boarding in my pet-friendly home (dependent on dog's needs and size) Safety and happiness come first—I follow best practices for leashed walks, hydration, playtime, and lots of belly rubs and cuddles. I'm background-checked and always send photo updates so you never miss a moment. I normally cook for my friends dogs, so if you prefer specific home-cooked, dog-digestible meals, I am happy to provide that. I own a two-story home, with a secure fenced yard, a nearby park, and miles of paved walking trails. I'm available most days, including holidays, weekends and evenings. Flexible with last-minute requests when possible! I'd love to meet you and your dog—message me to set up a Meet & Greet. Let's make sure your pup stays happy, exercised, and spoiled while you're away! I currently work out of the house all day, 5-6 days a week, so I will be with your pet all day in your home or mine while you're away for a business trip, vacation, or if you simply need someone to pop in and check on your pup or do daily walks. I have a large fenced yard adjacent to numerous walking trails. Depending on your pups needs, I can provide in-home house/dog sitting. I promise to treat your pet as if they were my own, which means they will be given lots of affection and attention. I am a daily walker, so your pup will have a daily adventure just steps from my backyard or yours.

About: I grew up with a husky dog throughout my entire childhood and I am now a proud cat owner. Huskies can be particularly difficult dogs to walk, and I have been walking them for as long as I can remember. My parents considered our dog as a part of the family and always provided an abundance of love and activity. I have taken the same approach with my cats and I love every moment. I have had my older cat, Iris, for 5 years and I rescued a kitten, Aster, almost 2 months ago. My connection with the pets in my life drives my love for all of the pets that I provide care to. I love puppies and kittens, antics and all. I enjoy walking, hiking, and playing with dogs. Being a cat owner, I have a wonderful time hanging out with cats. Whether they love to play, just want pets, or even take a while to warm up to people, I’m here for it. I am most available Sunday-Thursday. Friday and Saturday can work for specific situations. Sunday: all day Monday: before 5 pm Tuesday: all day Wednesday: before 5 pm Thursday: all day Friday: before 2 pm Saturday: available for house sitting for the right situation. Send me a message and we can discuss if it’s a good fit. I absolute LOVE to play and will be good company for a dog. I am mindful, and will be sure to give them lots of potty breaks. I am also an out doors person so walks are no problem! I approach every cat slowly and allow them to make the first move. Once we break the ice, I love engaging in play with interactive toys or providing pets based off of what the cat wants.

Sofia has gone above and beyond caring for our 4 dogs while we were out of town. Her sweetness and attention to detail with our dogs, made us feel not worried. Usually our dog Feebs barks at sitters, and she didn’t with Sofia. We would definitely love to bring her to sit for us again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you!!!!

Antoinette is responsible, attentive, and friendly! For my first booking with her, she watched my cat for five nights. She set up an in-person meeting beforehand and paid careful attention to his food and play preferences. She also sent photos updates with each meal, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. She even brought in a package for me without having to ask. I’d happily book her again!

Cat M. did an excellent job with my dog, Maggie. Cat walked Maggie twice a day and she even bathed her after Maggie had rolled in the dirt. My house was in the same condition as when I left it, which was greatly appreciated. Cat even spent her own time with me after I returned to teach me some tricks to use when taking Maggie for a walk, as Maggie is a puller and she is reactive to other dogs. Cat has been the best pet sitter through Rover that I’ve had in the past and I will definitely book with her again.

About: I’ve been pet sitting dogs and cats for the past 10 years and have experience caring for pets with different personalities, routines, and needs. Having dogs and cats of my own has given me a strong understanding of how important it is for pets to feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while their owners are away. I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding schedules, playtime, giving lots of attention, and making sure pets keep their usual routine so they feel at home. I am currently working part time and will be sure to provide my availability, so that together we can be sure your pet is given the best possible care. I will ensure your pet is well cared for while you're away, providing them with plenty of attention and care. They are family afterall.

He very much understands the value of keeping pets' in their daily routine and doing things just as their owners would. He did everything we asked him to, including daily walks, small animal cage cleanings, giving of medicine, sending daily updates/pics, and giving lots of love and attention! Having a trusted pet-sitter while you're away is crucial and we will DEFINITELY be using Tom again and recommend him to others.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lockwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 694 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lockwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lockwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lockwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lockwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lockwood. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
