“Our dog was very excited to arrive after recognizing Destiny’s house from our meet and greet with her dogs. Sounds like our dog had a great and fun day in her care, and Destiny’s communication was great!”

“Brittany was awesome with my high energy lab mix. I booked a short notice dog sit and she was very friendly and responded quickly. Communication was great. She sent lots of picture of him playing with his new dogs friends ❤️”

“Sarah was so friendly, accommodating and communicative! Even before we spent a full day with Sarah, our pup sprinted to her. Talk about a green flag! We really appreciated Sarah rescheduling our meet and greet a few times as well since the holidays are such a busy time.”

“Billie and William are just the nicest people. This was my 2nd time using them, when we pulled up to the house my dog started doing her Happy wiggle and honking! She loves going to see them and I feel extremely comfortable knowing she is happy and well taken care of! A+ care all the way around! I definitely recommend using them.”

About: I’m a small-breed dog mom to two friendly Shih Tzus. I’ve trained both of them from puppyhood, so I’m experienced in teaching calm behavior, basic obedience, and creating a well-structured environment for small dogs. I’m happy to reinforce good manners. I have a fenced backyard and a fenced small-breed dog park within walking distance, and we go there every other day for playtime and socializing. Leonard and Taylor are both gentle, well-behaved, and great companions for visiting pups. My home is calm, clean, and ideal for small-breed dogs who enjoy a safe and friendly environment. I’m available full time for boarding on weekends and holidays. On weekdays, my two Shih Tzus—Leonard (born April 2024) and Taylor (born March 2025)—stay home from about 10am to 6pm. They are used to a calm routine and do very well together. If your dog is comfortable being without a human for part of the day, weekday boarding can also work. I live in a house with a fenced backyard and a fenced small-breed dog park within walking distance. We go there every other day for playtime and sniff walks. Both Leonard and Taylor are friendly, gentle Shih Tzus who make great company for visiting small dogs. My home is clean, safe, and perfect for small breeds. I also have both small and medium crates available if you prefer your dog crated.
“Rachel is amazing! I had mom guilt because I’ve never left my dog with anyone before this was all new to me. But she made me feel secure and that my dog would be well taken care of. what I loved the most was getting pictures and updates on how my dog was and more importantly how comfortable my dog was with her. Thank you Rachel!!”

“My dog was happy when I picked him up. He was well fed and taken care of. I can tell when my dog has a good time at a sitters home and my dog definitely had a good time. I will rebook again :)”

“Oh cooper just loves hanging out with doggy day care he gets so much exercise playing with the other pups and is in such a happy mood when we get home. Thank you Doggy day care you are the best”

“Jessica and Eric have a wonderful home with a fenced backyard! It is just perfect for daycare, or overnight.Jessica was kind enough to send me photos of Layla and her dog enjoying their time together. Layla now has 3 new friends, and has asked me if I can schedule a return visit(lol)!”

“Danielle was a fantastic sitter for Oreo! She was incredibly responsive and her home is perfectly set up for dogs - I loved seeing the protective sheets on the sofa, a dedicated water station, and a secure yard for roaming. She kept us updated with photo and messages while we were skiing, which we really appreciated. Oreo came home happy and even smelled great! It’s clear she takes excellent care of her guest dogs. We will definitely be booking with her again when we’re back in Reno!”

About: I’ve had the pleasure of providing reliable, loving pet care for over 15 years. Caring for animals isn’t just a job for me — it’s something I genuinely enjoy and take pride in. From daily walks and feeding routines to overnight stays and special care for senior pets, I treat every animal as if they were my own. Pet owners can feel confident knowing their pets are safe, happy, and receiving plenty of attention while they’re away. My long-term clients appreciate my dependability, communication, and the calm, caring environment I provide for their furry family members. I’m currently working part time so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I’m available for boarding on weekends and weekdays vary, but generally after 2pm I have a fenced backyard with plenty of grass, one very friendly dog to keep yours company, and two dog kennels to crate if needed.

“Shawna has been amazing with our 14 week old puppy Bridges. He always comes home completely pooped and I can tell he feels very comfortable around her family and house. Would 100% recommend!”

“Our two pups are regulars and love Cameron and Amanda. I’ll be the first to say our female Weimaraner is high strung. Somehow Amanda worked her magic and our baby girl is calming down. I’m henceforth referring to Amanda as the Weimaraner whisperer.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 345 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Lockwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Lockwood commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NV ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 345 sitters in Lockwood, 95% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
