“Emidio was amazing!!! Very communicative and timely!! I could tell that myla and oso got all the love they needed. Was like we never even left for the weekend! Will definitely have Emidio back :)”

“Kinan was exceptional. He took great care of our two pups, made sure the house was spotless when we arrived home, and helped us with a very big project. Can't recommend him enough, and plan to work with him again!”

“We were apprehensive to leave our pets in the care of someone new, but Tom absolutely went above and beyond to lovingly care for our animals and give us peace of mind while we were on our trip! He very much understands the value of keeping pets' in their daily routine and doing things just as their owners would. He did everything we asked him to, including daily walks, small animal cage cleanings, giving of medicine, sending daily updates/pics, and giving lots of love and attention! Having a trusted pet-sitter while you're away is crucial and we will DEFINITELY be using Tom again and recommend him to others.”

“Wonderful job caring for Taz and Zoey! It gave me such peace of mind knowing they were in great hands while I was away. I especially loved receiving the pictures and updates—they made me smile and reassured me that my cats were happy and well cared for. Very reliable, attentive, and clearly treated Taz and Zoey like their own. I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy pet sitter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again.”

About: Animals bring me peace and joy and I just can't help but want to be around them to support them. I have raised dogs and other animals throughout my life. I have had cats, fish, hamsters, and even hermit crabs. Animals are always full of life and hope. I have two dogs now. A mother and daughter. It really shows me how deep animals can feel. I love them. Pet sitting is my priority. I spend 24/7 at home unless I am at the park or running errands. I can devote ample time to pet care. I have a fenced yard and two small dogs. They go for walks, trips to the park, as well as off road fun. Like hiking, kayaking, and trail walks.
About: I have always grown up with pets, from dogs to rodents I’ve always had some fur little friend in my life. I adore being able to make a pets life more enjoyable and bright, whether that means going out and about or being a couch potato, I want to be there. I just recently got accepted to go back to school for fall 26’ to get my masters degree in Indiana! Due to my acceptance, I decided to take the summer off from my full-time job to have a fun and memorable summer! I’m quite free until August 11th (my last day in Reno), however, I do have occasional events planned like family flying in, concerts, and seasonal activities! With these events I may need to alter some times of bookings, however, I will make sure your pet comes first! I personally love having a directions list, something that I can follow to keep both your mind and my mind at peace knowing that what is written down will make sure that you pet will be safe and still have a good time. I would also love to be able to meet you and your pet before any bookings so that both you and your pet feel comfortable with who I am!

“Megan was a pleasure to have taking care of our dogs and our house. She went above and beyond to make sure our dogs were well taken care of and happy. She also exceeded our expectations by keeping the house clean and even cleaned things we did not expect her to! We would highly recommend Megan to anyone looking to have someone take care of their dogs/home.”

“We contacted Erika on very short notice looking for a sitter for our two dogs. She was quick to reply, helpful in navigating the process, and communicative throughout, We got daily photos of our dogs, and when one had an accident due to the separation anxiety she was proactive in telling us, cleaned it up, and followed up to make sure everything was resolved. We appreciated her availability, communication, and follow-up. Our dogs were happy to see us when we returned, but also happy to see her when she dropped off the key.”

“Ally was on time and communicative throughout the booking and pet sitting process. She went over and above to understand our pet’s needs. Moreover, she listened to our specific concerns and was very accommodating . Will definitely use her again!”

“Dustin was great with my little pack of 3 and kept me in the loop with pictures, videos, and good communication through the weekend. I have 1 who can be shy and standoffish to new people, and typically will mope in his kennel the whole time, everytime I’m gone. He got zoomies as soon as he met Dustin and not only didn’t stay mopey during Dustin’s time watching them, but actually played with Dustin & seemed to have a great time! I would happily book with him again and recommend to others”

“Allison was so great! She communicated often; sent updates and pictures and videos. She checked in with anything she was 100% sure on which I really appreciated. We will definitely use her again.”

“Super sweet, and took such wonderful care of my fur babies. She instantly felt like family, and took care of my babies like her own. I will DEFINITELY be using her again when I come to this area visiting family.”

“Allie communicated very well, was conscientious and reliable in caring for my dog, cat, and home. My dog is stranger fearful and leash reactive but warmed up to Allie quickly. Everyone seemed happy and well cared for upon my return.”

“I'm not even sure where to begin with my gratitude for Angie and the way that she cared for our two dogs. We went on a 10-day vacation, and she stayed in our home with our 15-year-old dog and our eight-year-old dog. Angie contacted me multiple times per day with pictures and texts to let me know how the dogs were doing. She took them on walks, fed them, comforted them, and she did an amazing job managing our older dogs medications. I could tell through her communication that our dogs were in excellent hands. Sadly, three days into our trip our older dog suffered a seizure and Angie kept me abreast of any changes. The day after the seizure, our dog passed away at home and Angie nursed her into her passing. This by far was one of the most devastating things to have happen while on vacation. Angie worked with my dear friend and took care of our sweet dog until the very end. Angie not only loved our dog as she passed, she loved and cared for our younger dog in a way that I can never repay her. I had no idea when I ventured onto Rover that I would find such a kind soul to love our dogs. I will forever be grateful to her and I hope that this review can help someone feel comforted in putting their trust in Angie.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Virginia City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Virginia City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Virginia City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
