“Kinan was exceptional. He took great care of our two pups, made sure the house was spotless when we arrived home, and helped us with a very big project. Can't recommend him enough, and plan to work with him again!”

“Allie communicated very well, was conscientious and reliable in caring for my dog, cat, and home. My dog is stranger fearful and leash reactive but warmed up to Allie quickly. Everyone seemed happy and well cared for upon my return.”

“Very happy repeat customer! Cleo did a great job of updating us and sending pictures and videos while we were gone. Came home to find both of our boys very happy and well loved.”

“Ally was on time and communicative throughout the booking and pet sitting process. She went over and above to understand our pet’s needs. Moreover, she listened to our specific concerns and was very accommodating . Will definitely use her again!”
About: Animals bring me peace and joy and I just can't help but want to be around them to support them. I have raised dogs and other animals throughout my life. I have had cats, fish, hamsters, and even hermit crabs. Animals are always full of life and hope. I have two dogs now. A mother and daughter. It really shows me how deep animals can feel. I love them. Pet sitting is my priority. I spend 24/7 at home unless I am at the park or running errands. I can devote ample time to pet care. I have a fenced yard and two small dogs. They go for walks, trips to the park, as well as off road fun. Like hiking, kayaking, and trail walks.
About: I've taken care of various dog breeds such as Shitzu, Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Golden Retriever, Poodle, Labrador, Jack Russell, Beagle, etc. I have experience taking care of puppies to senior dogs and cats. My family loves pet and I've grown up with dogs in the house. I am a full-time stay at home mom. I also have a high energy puppy dog who loves to play to keep your dog a company. She’s very friendly and loves to socialize with other dogs. I have a concrete and big fenced pet-friendly yard. My husband and I are both pet lovers and we’re partners in taking care of them. We have a dog of our own named Chase. We always treat pets as part of our family. 🥰🏡🐶
“Lilliana was 15 minutes early & was absolutely fabulous! ! Not only is she sweet & kind, she truly love animals & I had zero concerns while I was out!! Makes it very comforting to leave knowing our pups are being cared for & loved. So happy to have found her!!”

“Allison was very flexible and accommodating as we were booking on relatively short notice and were new to the area. She was very communicative and took great care of our dog and cat the entire 2 weeks she was in our home. Would definitely recommend!”

“I’ve only had one experience with a local boarding facility, that was not a good experience. I was extremely nervous about leaving my baby (let’s be serious, they’re our children) with a stranger again. I chose Rover since house sitting was also an option, my thinking was it would be less traumatic for my dog being at home. Sophie came for a visit a week before my trip, she instantly put me at ease. 😊 My dog was sick the day before I left, we had a little vet visit and he was given some medication. Sophie had no problems with giving him his medication, giving me updates and sending me pictures throughout my trip. She is super sweet, took great care of my baby and my home. I would highly recommend Sophie to take care of your fur babies, and well as your home.”

“Rachel was amazing! She sent regular photo, video, and text updates while I was gone and kept my two dogs happy and well exercised. She was especially patient with one of my dogs who tends to be nervous in general but even more so when I’m away. My house was clean and tidy when I came home with everything as I had left it. I would recommend Rachel to anyone in need of a loving, respectful sitter for their fur babies!”

About: I’ve been baby sitting my brother dog for a long time now! And I grew up with some! I love dogs and love to take care of them I work Monday -Thursday, I love to work out so it will be nice to go on long walks or have company while going on runs I will keep your dog company or keep him or her in their creat if needed! Make sure they are feeling at home and safe
“Super sweet, and took such wonderful care of my fur babies. She instantly felt like family, and took care of my babies like her own. I will DEFINITELY be using her again when I come to this area visiting family.”

“Angie took care of our Havanese! She stayed at the house for 3 days, 2 nights. She is very caring to dogs and the house was clean and tidy when we returned. Thank you Angie!”

“Antoinette is responsible, attentive, and friendly! For my first booking with her, she watched my cat for five nights. She set up an in-person meeting beforehand and paid careful attention to his food and play preferences. She also sent photos updates with each meal, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. She even brought in a package for me without having to ask. I’d happily book her again!”

About: My family has always had 1-2 dogs, and I have been watching other people's dogs for 6 years. My family once had 4 cats and farm animals, so l am also experienced with other animals. I love going on hikes and walks. My clients are always happy with my caretaking, often asking me to watch their animals again. I am able to watch your pet (s) at animals again. I am able to watch your pet (s) at you house, as long as it is clean, but l am also able to watch your pets) at my house, as long as they get along with my families' dog. :) I have watched many types and breeds of dogs (doodle mix, Chihuahua mix, Australian cattle dog, etc) I am currently unemployed, so I have lots of time to give your dogs attention, hikes, or whatever they need. I will only not be available June 8-19, and after mid August my availability will change. I have a fenced yard, and one friendly, smallish dog. I live on a ranch, so beyond the dance there is plenty of space for the dog to run around if they are okay off leash. I also have one cat, so it is preferable that your pet is cat friendly, but if not I may be also to make it work.

“Megan was a pleasure to have taking care of our dogs and our house. She went above and beyond to make sure our dogs were well taken care of and happy. She also exceeded our expectations by keeping the house clean and even cleaned things we did not expect her to! We would highly recommend Megan to anyone looking to have someone take care of their dogs/home.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dayton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dayton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dayton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
