“This was our first time leaving our dog with someone other than family and Andrew was absolutely amazing at taking care of our him and making us feel at ease. He was very attentive and picked up on our dog’s personality and needs fast. We enjoyed our daily updates and pictures of our happy dog. We highly recommend him and will definitely use Andrew again!”

“Carlos stayed with our dog Bowser for a week while we were travelling oversees and his regular updates and photos gave us confidence and calm that Bowser was in good hands while we were away. We came home to a happy and healthy pup and spotless apartment! Will definitely request Carlos again!”

“Jacob was amazing! From the first moment he established a great rapport with our 5 year old Golden Retriever Maximus and treated him with kindness and love. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for throughout the entire stay. We received regular updates, photos, and excellent communication, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s obvious he genuinely loves animals and treats them like family. We came home to a healthy, happy pup, and we booked the next house sit right away. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter.”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for many different pets. Growing up, I helped raise two family dogs and cats so I’m comfortable with both indoor pets and larger animals. For 13 years I was the proud mom to my Shih Tzu, Bruno, who taught me just how much love, patience, and daily care go into being a great pet parent. Though he recently passed🙏, the experience of caring for him still shapes how I look after every animal in my care. I’m reliable, attentive, and treat every pet like my own. Whether it’s walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or just making sure they’re comfortable and happy while you’re away, I’m here to give them the kind of care you’d want for them. I currently work remotely so I am able to give your pet all the attention they deserve and need. I can leave any time for walks and vet appointments. I’m a responsible and attentive caregiver who takes pet safety seriously. With years of experience caring for dogs and cats, I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions and adapting to each pet’s individual needs.
“Alexandra is an excellent pet sitter. I highly recommend her. She did an awesome job. I had peace of mind knowing she was there. I would definitely reach out to her again if I need a pet sitter. She sent me pictures and was always letting me know what was going on. Truly remarkable!!”

“Yanni was amazing with Harley and Ellie! She made a point to meet us and meet the dogs before our stay. She had her hands full with an older dog with heart issues and thunderstorm anxiety and a younger dog with destructive tendancies! Yanni was able to make sure both were happy and healthy while we were gone. She went above and beyond to keep me in the loop with what was happening, how everyone was getting along, and picture updates. Yanni even made sure to go back to the house after the stay was over to make sure Ellie got her medication for thunderstorms when storms rolled through before we got home. Her thoughfulness made a huge impression on me and she truly cares for animals. I highly recommend Yanni and will use her again when we go out of town.”

“Candiance took amazing care of our elderly, attention-addicted cat while we were out of town, making sure she got her meds in and sending regular updates. She was also very gracious when our flight was delayed by several hours and we were late getting back.”

Now if I have to travel, I know my cat and my home will be well looked after.”

This was our first time leaving our dog with someone other than family and Andrew was absolutely amazing at taking care of our him and making us feel at ease. He was very attentive and picked up on our dog’s personality and needs fast. We enjoyed our daily updates and pictures of our happy dog. We highly recommend him and will definitely use Andrew again!

Rachel was again amazing watching our Indie! She is so communicative and sends the best pupdates. She is so thoughtful and caring for both Indie and our home. She not only followed all of our detailed instructions perfectly, but she also improved on them for Indie’s benefit. We felt so comfortable leaving our pup with Rachel knowing he would be loved and cared for. Rachel left our home in impecable shape. She is very thoughtful and caring and a real dog lover. I can’t recommend her enough.

Maddie was by far the best dog sitter. I have two golden retrievers that love to run, play fetch and go on hikes. She did all of the above and more. she sent me pictures, took the dogs hiking at the reservation, they went on 2 mile walks, played fetch and were very well taken care of. She is kind, respectful, communicative, and truly loved our fur babies. I highly recommend her. I will definitely hire her when we travel. I cannot thank her enough!! 🩷🦴🐾🦮

Lolla was amazing and took great care of Benson. He needs meds and has high anxiety and she did a wonderful job of making sure he was comfortable and looked after. She also handled my pet parent panic and anxiety incredibly! Would strongly recommend her to take great care of your pup!!

Terilyn is absolutely wonderful! I have very shy dogs, and I was nervous about how they would handle a new sitter, but Terilyn was patient and intuitive. She came up with creative ideas to help them feel comfortable and safe in her presence. Her communication was top-notch; she sent frequent updates that really put my mind at ease. I’m so happy I found her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, professional sitter!"

Great experience! Communication was easy and consistent, and I felt very comfortable leaving my pets in her care. She went above and beyond — Rocket is currently going through a hard time and she cooked fresh meals for Rocket every day and was able to get him to eat without vomiting, which has been a big challenge for him. She was also wonderful with Luna and made sure both of them were well cared for. I really appreciated the updates and photos while I was away. They were clearly happy and comfortable. I would definitely book again and highly recommend her! 🐾

We are so grateful for the amazing care Alexandra gave our pets over Thanksgiving! She stayed in our home for a full week to look after our Rottie, Mini Schnauzer, and kitty, and she truly went above and beyond. She even checked in to ask if she could give them a little turkey on the holiday ~ which they were very excited about! Alexandra sent us pictures throughout our trip, giving us so much peace of mind, and we returned to three happy, relaxed animals. She also left our home clean and well cared for, which we deeply appreciated after traveling. We were extremely pleased with her service and will definitely be using her again in the future. Highly recommend! She also left our home clean and well cared for, which we deeply appreciated after a long trip. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Hackensack walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Hackensack maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Hackensack choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
