About: Dogs have always been part of my life. Big, small, and everything in between. Growing up with pups taught me how to love, care for, and understand their unique personalities. I love them all and can’t wait to meet yours! 😀 I have hybrid work environment so I'm home two out of the three days a week if needed. I'm free on most weekdays and weekends. When caring for pets, whether in my own home or in your home home, I prioritize creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere. I ensure regular exercise and playtime tailored to their specific needs and preferences, fostering both physical and mental enrichment. Additionally, I will strictly follow any dietary requirements. Constant monitoring of their health and behavior allows for prompt action in case of any emergencies, and I maintain open communication with the pet owner, providing regular updates and pictures.

From start to finish, Gordon did an excellent job. He was right on time, took excellent care of my dog Pepe, and kept me updated with plenty of pictures that truly put my mind at ease. It was clear Pepe was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. Reliable, attentive, and genuinely great with dogs. I would absolutely book again and highly recommend Gordon to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter.

The dog was happy and the place was standing. In the end that's all that matters but a decent person who communicates well with an honest smile on their face and a personality to match makes the whole thing run smoother.

Terilyn is absolutely wonderful! I have very shy dogs, and I was nervous about how they would handle a new sitter, but Terilyn was patient and intuitive. She came up with creative ideas to help them feel comfortable and safe in her presence. Her communication was top-notch; she sent frequent updates that really put my mind at ease. I’m so happy I found her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, professional sitter!"

Nheli was absolutely wonderful! She came a day before our booking to meet Shayna and get acclimated with her, and on babysitting day, Shayna couldn't have been happier! She was super comfortable with Nheli (even during a rainstorm, which says something!) Nheli was responsive, and sent a bunch of adorable photos. Would love to work with her again!

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a kid. I have rescued my dogs while traveling through South America since 2022 and have been taking care of them. The old one is 5 yrs old and the second one is 2yrs old. I work remotely so I spend all day with my dogs except for when I have to run errands. This is why I can fit drop visits and walks throughout the day since I work from home. I have a fenced backyard if dogs need to play outside but also if they need to stay in a crate I can help with that. I have experience with walking small- large dogs.

We are happy and satisfied with the three days that Keka has been house-sitting our pawlove Hazel. Sure they had quality time playing around the house and outside during their walk. On top of that she got to provide Hazel with some Training that she needed. We appreciate so much the time she spent with our Hazel. We will surely recommend her to our other paw parent friends and surely it won't be the last for Keka & Hazel.

Will definitely see if she’s available the next time we need help with the pets!

Alexandra took good care of our fur baby, Bootsie, while we are away. She made sure that Bootsie gets his meds on time, provided the attention and care he needs. She keeps him company and gave him the treats occasionally. Alexandra also learned about administering the subcutaneous fluid injection on Bootsie daily - a new skill that should be added in her resume. Bootsie is grateful for Alexandra's company and for providing him the tender loving care in our absence.

About: I have two pets of my own, a cat and a dog. I know the needs to take care of both of them and would find it easier to handle yours. Worked at a pet hotel for a couple weeks and dealt with a variety of dogs (even cats) and know that each pet can be different and I'm ready to accustomed to your pet to ensure they feel comfortable and safe! I currently work at a nightshift so I would prefer to work during the evening. Depending on my schedule I would be able to work nightshifts on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Wednesdays. My dog is very playful and would enjoy having a bit of fun with yours! My cat is shy to newcomers so it might not interact with your pet.

About: I’ve always had dogs in my home since I was little, and I’ve been caring for them since I was 13. I’m experienced with both large and small dogs—they’ve been my neighbors’, friends’, family’s dogs, and by recommendations. Lots of experience with puppies adventures. I currently work remotely, so I have plenty of time to care for and play with your pups! I’m available for boarding on weekends and on weekdays starting from 11 a.m. My family has always had pets, so I’m very comfortable caring for them. At the moment, I don’t have any pets in my home, so your pet will have all the attention and space. I ensure a safe environment by keeping a watchful eye, maintaining secure spaces, and providing plenty of care and affection.

About: I started my experience dog walking 2 years ago for a professor’s friend in Winchester, Virginia. Twice a week, I would walk her hyper pups. She then recommended me to her father, whose dog I began walking twice a week as well. From there, my mini business boomed through word of mouth. I began dog sitting in people’s homes as well for multiple individuals for varying time spans. Most of the dogs I interacted with were seniors and required extensive care. However, all dogs owners loved and recommended me to others! I still walk the original dogs and add in others as my schedule allows with two other jobs. I am sad to leave my extensive clientele in Winchester, but I am moving back to New Jersey for graduate school and excited to meet new puppy friends!! For the summertime, I am incredibly flexible with nothing planned. I prefer weekly walks / drop ins, but also like sitting as well. In August, I start physical therapy school at Columbia University so my availability will decrease but I’d be willing to provide services on nights / weekends. During breaks, my availability will open up again! Whenever walking / sitting, I respect the owner’s rules, no matter what. I long to maintain utmost cleanliness and adherence to routine as physically possible. I am also very communicative and honest, building trust with my clients.

I booked a date with Esther and Jay so we could meet each other. I also thought it would give my cat an opportunity to become familiar with them. They arrived exactly on day and time we planned. Esther and Jay are warm and friendly and I found them a joy to have in my home. They asked good questions and I knew they would be wonderful caretakers for my cat. Now if I have to travel, I know my cat and my home will be well looked after.

Great experience! Communication was easy and consistent, and I felt very comfortable leaving my pets in her care. She went above and beyond — Rocket is currently going through a hard time and she cooked fresh meals for Rocket every day and was able to get him to eat without vomiting, which has been a big challenge for him. She was also wonderful with Luna and made sure both of them were well cared for. I really appreciated the updates and photos while I was away. They were clearly happy and comfortable. I would definitely book again and highly recommend her! 🐾

Kristine is the most caring, kind, and genuinely incredible person we have ever met on this app. The way she takes care of our puppies is truly amazing and she goes above and beyond to make sure they are happy and that my husband and I have nothing to worry about! She updates with photos all day, texts how they are doing and what they are doing, and answers her phone the second we text her. It is so obvious how much she adores animals, and our puppies adore her. We are so lucky to have found Kristine! Would recommend to anyone, and already booked her to watch our puppies many more times after her first visit. What a wonderful person!!!! We are blown away!

Julia may have been better with my animals than I am. She stayed with them for a week and didn’t have any problems. My 18 year old dog has senior issues and Julia was able to make him comfortable enough to eat while we were away. He also had no accidents in the house while in her care. Taina watched our dog for 10 days while we were on vacation and she was great! Our dog generally doesn’t open up to anyone quickly and always barks at strangers, but she let Taina pet her belly the very first time they met which was such a pleasant suprise lol. She was great with our dog and kept updating us on the latest with her. We’d hire Taina for our dog again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Hasbrouck Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Hasbrouck Heights on Rover is $72.71 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 18,957 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hasbrouck Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hasbrouck Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hasbrouck Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hasbrouck Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hasbrouck Heights. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
