“Diana does really well with my dog who is very anxious about meeting new people. She keeps me informed about everything my dog does and takes great pictures of my dog. She is very good at taking instructions and takes great care of my dog.”

“Reiterating my previous review in which Andrew was amazing with Luna. Probably the most reliable and communicative dog sitter I’ve ever booked. Highly recommend him and will use him again if I am in the area.”
“Shariana came to the rescue last minute when our previous sitter had an emergency and couldn't watch over our pup and she was incredibly communicative in coordinating the booking under such a time crunch. As for the care, she was incredibly loving to our dog during the sitting experience and sent us consistent text/photo updates while we were away, which was all much appreciated! We're definitely planning on using her again and would recommend her to any/everyone!”

“We are so grateful for the amazing care Alexandra gave our pets over Thanksgiving! She stayed in our home for a full week to look after our Rottie, Mini Schnauzer, and kitty, and she truly went above and beyond. She even checked in to ask if she could give them a little turkey on the holiday ~ which they were very excited about! Alexandra sent us pictures throughout our trip, giving us so much peace of mind, and we returned to three happy, relaxed animals. She also left our home clean and well cared for, which we deeply appreciated after traveling. We were extremely pleased with her service and will definitely be using her again in the future. “Jacob was amazing! From the first moment he established a great rapport with our 5 year old Golden Retriever Maximus and treated him with kindness and love. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for throughout the entire stay. We received regular updates, photos, and excellent communication, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s obvious he genuinely loves animals and treats them like family. We came home to a healthy, happy pup, and we booked the next house sit right away. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter.”

“Marco went above and beyond to care for our senior dog! Our pup is a bit particular and he doesn’t cuddle newcomers often. However Rocket warmed up to Marco and even slept with him! Plus Marco took wonderful care of our home. We’ll book him again in a heartbeat.”

“Anna was absolutely amazing while caring for my cat.. she was very attentive and communicative, always sending updates and asking questions. Will for sure book her again🤍”

“Glad we went with Neil to house sit our Carl! Neil kept Carl fed and walked daily and does a great job of keeping us apprised of the latest on our pup. He also helped with applying topical medication as Carl is having skin issues on the ears. On top of it all, it was a pleasure to return home to a happy pup and a CLEAN apartment. We’d be using Neil again! (Note: Neil is our dog walker as well)”

“Candiance is so thorough in everything she does. I got so many detailed updates and photos while she was caring for my pup. I felt very comfortable with her in my home, taking care of my baby. Highly recommend!”

“Mike was our very first Rover experience, and I'm so glad we found him. He stayed at our home and took such good care of our dog and cat, sent frequent updates and photos, and was so communicative and kind. Our animals seemed very happy for all the round the clock care and attention he gave them, and it was such a relief to have them in good hands. Highly recommend Mike, and hope to have him back to take care of our animals again in the future!”

“Jorge is just the best! A perfect Match for my 16 years old Lili! Jorge ‘a energy is great, he is smart and kind. He took very good care of my dog. I can only highly recommend his services.”

“Dayshalis was wonderful with our cats, and a great comfort to know they were in good hands while we were out of town. This was our first time using Rover, so I was a little nervous at first, but Dayshalis made me feel very comfortable right away with how responsive, kind, thoughtful, and respectful she was. She was curious about both our cats, learning their personalities and how to best engage them and give them each what they needed. Dayshalis sent us many photos while we were gone, which were really appreciated, and I could see in the photos that the cats were not only at ease and calm, but enjoying themselves and the interactions they were having with Dayshalis. When we got home, the cats weren’t at all upset that we had been gone, as they sometimes have been with other cat sitters. We really appreciate the care Dayshalis took, and highly recommend her as an excellent pet sitter. Thanks Dayshalis!”

Tatiana did a great job taking care of Ace and Jack while we were away! She was reliable, attentive, and followed all of their care instructions. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. We really appreciate her help and would definitely recommend her!

My experience with Alitha was wonderful. My anxious and fearful dog took a liking to her immediately. I have never left him with anyone outside of our household, so I was very nervous. Alitha put me right at ease with her lovely demeanor. She sent me updates throughout the day and she made it possible for me to enjoy my daughter's wedding knowing Henry was in very capable and loving hands.I wouldn't hesitate to use her again.

Rachel was again amazing watching our Indie! She is so communicative and sends the best pupdates. She is so thoughtful and caring for both Indie and our home. She not only followed all of our detailed instructions perfectly, but she also improved on them for Indie’s benefit. We felt so comfortable leaving our pup with Rachel knowing he would be loved and cared for. Rachel left our home in impecable shape. She is very thoughtful and caring and a real dog lover. I can’t recommend her enough.

Maddie was by far the best dog sitter. I have two golden retrievers that love to run, play fetch and go on hikes. She did all of the above and more. she sent me pictures, took the dogs hiking at the reservation, they went on 2 mile walks, played fetch and were very well taken care of. She is kind, respectful, communicative, and truly loved our fur babies. I highly recommend her. I will definitely hire her when we travel. I cannot thank her enough!! 🩷🦴🐾🦮

Lolla was amazing and took great care of Benson. He needs meds and has high anxiety and she did a wonderful job of making sure he was comfortable and looked after. She also handled my pet parent panic and anxiety incredibly! Would strongly recommend her to take great care of your pup!!

Terilyn is absolutely wonderful! I have very shy dogs, and I was nervous about how they would handle a new sitter, but Terilyn was patient and intuitive. She came up with creative ideas to help them feel comfortable and safe in her presence. Her communication was top-notch; she sent frequent updates that really put my mind at ease. I’m so happy I found her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, professional sitter!"

Great experience! Communication was easy and consistent, and I felt very comfortable leaving my pets in her care. She went above and beyond — Rocket is currently going through a hard time and she cooked fresh meals for Rocket every day and was able to get him to eat without vomiting, which has been a big challenge for him. She was also wonderful with Luna and made sure both of them were well cared for. I really appreciated the updates and photos while I was away. They were clearly happy and comfortable. I would definitely book again and highly recommend her! 🐾

Claudia was an amazing dog sitter. She made sure our very anxious dog got enough walks, kept him company all day and night and that he always had fresh food. She was also so communicative and made us feel like we could really enjoy our vacation because she had everything under control! Benson definitely missed her after she left, which is a great sign of how comfortable she made him feel. We will definitely request her services the next time we need a dog sitter. Thank you Claudia!!

My husband and I just came home with 2 puppies and were worried for our first day back to work. Michael made sure we had nothing to worry about. He texted us all day, sent photos, updates, provided above and beyond care to our puppies and is the most caring and kind person. We are so thankful we found Michael and are so lucky to have such a wonderful person to watch our pups with full care and attention for our 10 hour work days. He makes sure our puppies are safe and loved and we would recommend him to anyone needing excellent dog care.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Little Ferry walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Little Ferry maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Little Ferry choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
