“Melinda was absolutely amazing and took such good care of our 2 dogs Nica and Max. We received daily updates and photos. Melinda was very professional, thorough and responsive. It was evident our dogs were very comfortable with her as well. My wife and I would not hesitate in booking Melinda again.”

“I am so grateful to April for being such a great sitter for my cat! She has an obvious love of animals and is very sweet and friendly to chat with. I had full trust knowing she’d be great with my Kitty and keeping in contact the whole time. I’ll definitely be booking her for all future pet-sitting needs. Thanks April!”

About: I offer thoughtful, detail oriented pet care with a strong focus on consistency, safety, and communication. I’m comfortable caring for senior pets, managing routines, and providing a calm presence for animals that may be anxious or sensitive to change. I am also comfortable with medication management. I take the responsibility of being in someone’s home seriously and aim to create a seamless experience both for pets and their owners. You can expect clear communication, reliability, and a high level of respect for your space. My dog, Tessie, is so important to me so I treat your pets with as much love and care that I would want her to have. My work experience includes firefighter/paramedic, ER nurse, clinic work, and am certified in Pet First Aid. I am the Clinical Director at a local free clinic. This allows me to have flexible but predictable hours each week. Because of this I can provide consistent, punctual visits with compassionate care for your pets. For house sitting I can make mid day visits so that your pets are not alone for longer than needed. I cater each experience to the needs of you and your pet. I prefer to have clear communication of your preferences so that I can ensure that you are as happy with the visit as your pets are. For house sitting, I stay in the home so pets can remain in their familiar space with minimal disruption. I follow their usual feeding, walking, and medication schedules, provide companionship throughout the day and evening, and ensure the home is cared for as well (lights, plants, mail, basic tidiness). My goal is to maintain a calm, consistent presence so pets feel safe and relaxed while their owners are away. For in home drop-ins, I provide feeding, fresh water, litter box or yard clean up, medications if needed, and quality time with each pet. I tailor each visit to the pet’s energy level and personality including playtime, short walks, or quiet companionship. I also provide updates after each visit so owners feel connected and reassured. For dog walking, I focus on safe, structured walks that match your dog’s pace and needs. I prioritize leash safety, positive reinforcement, and a calm walking experience. Walks can include neighborhood routes or familiar areas your dog enjoys, or local dog parks, and I always ensure they return home settled, hydrated, and comfortable.
About: Hello! I have been a dog owner and have kept aquariums both as a hobby and professionally for 10+ years. I have over 425 volunteer hours logged combined as an aquarist with the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and with the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. As a personal assistant, baby sitter and dog sitter, I am professional, detail-oriented, friendly and motivated to engage with your pets and give the highest quality care I can. As of this summer, I have graduated with a Bachelors in Biology from UC Santa Cruz, where I worked within two different labs focused on invertebrate and fish research and husbandry tasks, as well as a front desk admin and floor manager at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center. I currently work as a contract field scientist with the Bureau of Land Management, based in Santa Fe. I have a clean driving record and my own vehicle, and am flexible for overnights and check-ins, though do reach out to me to confirm my availability. I am currently employed full-time with a nontraditional schedule, and will communicate with you on times I may need to be out of the house for work. I will go over with you a detailed questionnaire to determine all aspects of your pet's care and schedule, and send update messages at least once a day.
About: I’ve grown up caring for animals my entire life and have hands-on experience with dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, and other small animals. Being around a variety of pets has taught me how to understand different personalities, routines, and care needs. I’m patient, dependable, and genuinely love spending time with animals, whether that means long walks, playtime, or simply giving them attention and comfort while you’re away. I treat every pet like they’re my own and always make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for! I am taking a gap year after college and will be doing lots of road tripping. I would love to explore new cities, and since I'm not working I will have all day to play with and care for your pets! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I make sure pets are fed on schedule, get plenty of exercise and attention, and feel comfortable while their owners are away.
“Vicki came to our house to do an extra get-to-know-you visit with my dog Riley. He can be a little skittish with people, but he responded to Vicki quickly. She's obviously a kind, caring person, and I feel confident that I'm leaving my dog in good hands.”

About: I'm new to caring for dogs professionally, I've dog and cat sat for my neighbor several times over the last three years. While I'm new to taking care of pets in a professional setting, I've cared for dogs of all kinds since I was 10 years old. I've always felt a kindred spirit for animals and treat them with the utmost respect and care. From feeding, to bathing, and walking there isn't any dog I haven't enjoyed taking care of or spending time with. I recently lost my sweet boy who was in my life for seven years as he was an elder dog when I adpoted him and that's what brought me to Rover. I can guarantee your pet will be well cared for with me. I have a pretty open schedule right now since I only work part-time. I'm available after 3 pm Monday - Wednesday and have full availibility Thursday - Sunday to care for your fur baby. I'm available for boarding on weekends and can come to your fur baby as well if they prefer being at home. You can have peace of mind knowing that your fur baby will be cared for with full attention to detail. I can ensure a peaceful and calm environment when caring for your pets especailly senior pets who enjoy peace and quiet. If your pet needs a lot of outside time, walks are my specialty. Whatever your pet needs are I can accomodate. I'm always open to meeting with you and your pet to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable.
“Mel is clearly in-tune with dogs - well at least my dog, Bean! She was immediately affectionate with him and continued to be easy in his presence while we all got to know each other. During his first drop-in with Bean while I was away, he was super communicative - even sending a picture early in his visit showing Bean relaxing in the yard.”

About: I’ve taken care of pets for the majority of my life. My own, as well as friends and family. I have 30+ years experience with cats, and have pet-sitted many kinds of dog breeds ranging from chihuahua to Great Pyrenees I currently do not have a job, so I am mostly available all day for pet care, save for a few hours a day when I go into town for errands. I have a large sunlit home with a yard (unfenced) and large patio area for play. I have no other pets, so yours would receive all my love 🤍
About: I traveled in a van for many years and before I got Richard, I cared for over twenty dogs of all sizes and temperaments all over the country. I still travel by van and offer in-home pet sitting anywhere around the American West. When I lived in Tucson, I volunteered at the shelter and fostered dogs. I will work with the schedule and routines that your dog is used to so they feel safe and secure while you’re away. I’m also an avid hiker and would love to take your pups with me on outdoor adventures if they are up for it. Also happy to take short, gentle walks. I take excellent care of the spaces where I pet sit. I will clean before I leave and will respect your privacy or any of your preferences that we discuss ahead of time.

About: Hi, I'm Eva! I’ve had dogs and been surrounded by pets my whole life. I currently have a 4 year old Portuguese Water Dog, Claude. He craves social time with other dogs (big and small) and demands at least two trips a day to the grassy park down the street. He is very active and loves to hike or run after work when it's cool out. He loves learning new tricks and recently passed his Canine Good Citizen test. I work from home Monday - Friday and have a fenced in yard in the back if the dogs are desperate to get some energy out sooner rather than later! I work Monday - Friday on East Coast hours so am usually done by 3/3:30 to get the dogs out and enjoying the sunshine. I am able to take breaks throughout the day for walks to the park and around the neighborhood. We love to go for a run or hike after work when it is cool out! I am available all day, able to provide excellent communication and attention for your dog. I have a fully fenced in backyard that the dogs can play in anytime they wish.
About: I’ve loved furbabies (dogs & cats and basically any living being) my whole life and grew up helping care for them from a young age. My pup Taz, who I adopted at 10 weeks old, has taught me so much about canine behavior and care. He is currently almost five years old and thriving. I used to work fully remote and we've lived the best van life for a few years, so he's been through and seen it all from coast to coast. I also have over seven years of hands-on experience helping my mom, a dog breeder, care for 20+ litters of puppies. Through that, I’ve built strong skills in puppy care, socialization, and basic training. I’ve even helped certify therapy dogs and participated in visits to hospitals and community spaces, so I’m comfortable handling dogs in different environments. I work a hybrid schedule, which allows me to give your furbabies lots of attention throughout the stay. I make sure they get regular walks, playtime, and personalized care so they feel safe, comfortable, and well loved. As a deaf person, I’m highly observant and attentive, which naturally carries into how I care for your furbabies. I build pet care into my daily routine to ensure they receive consistent attention, structure, and love. Each day typically starts with a morning walk or playtime, followed by feeding and a quick check in to make sure your furbaby is comfortable and doing well. With a super flexible schedule, I can also include enrichment, play, and outdoor outings when appropriate, while balancing that with plenty of calm rest and supervised downtime. In the evening, we usually have another walk or play session, followed by dinner and a relaxed wind down. Overall, I maintain a steady routine of walks, meals, play, rest, and close observation so your furbabies feel secure, supported, and well cared for. I provide regular walks and engaging activities. With your approval, I can also take your furbaby out for walks and social time at a nearby park. My pup, Taz, is a social butterfly! He adores and gets along with every single pup he has ever encountered from all over the United States while on the road. If your furbaby wants company, he will be the perfect duo. If your furbaby wants to chill, he will gladly give them space to chill. I call Taz the "Rover Whisperer".

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Santa Fe
Susannah was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly professional, patient, and communicative throughout her time caring for our family dog. She went above and beyond to help us during a difficult time when we were unable to walk the dog ourselves, and we are so grateful for her flexibility and care. Susannah was also great about providing thoughtful updates after each visit, including how our dog was doing, how they seemed to be feeling, and any observations or suggestions she had. It was clear that she genuinely cared about our dog and wanted to make sure they were happy and comfortable. We would absolutely welcome Susannah back anytime and would recommend her without hesitation.

Gavin is the best sitter we’ve ever had! He’s attentive, communicative, great with dogs, kind and patient - our incredibly hesitant husky even warmed up to him, which is almost impossible. I can see why Gavin is so popular and we will not hesitate to rebook him.

Elizabeth had a quick response to our last-minute need for a drop-in while we were visiting from out of town. She already had great reviews so we felt we could trust her with our baby. She followed all of our instructions? Was very communicative, and took extra care to make sure our girl felt comfortable and safe with a new person. Leaving your baby while out of town can be super stressful when you don’t have a sitter you know, but she took the stress out of it. Thank you!

Reiley was great, as usual. He took care of our cat Olive and our chickens. And he went way above and beyond when our chickens were accidentally locked out of our coop by a construction crew. He came over to our place late in the evening, found the chickens, and got them safely back into the coop. We plan to use Reiley again whenever we travel.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
