“Vicki was very professional and so sweet to both Baxter and me. I trusted that Baxter was in great hands, really reduced any stress I was feeling about using a new sitter. Highly recommend!”

“Lise was amazing. She took such good care of our three dogs in our home and was very caring, made sure to keep a watchful eye on each one of them as there are two elders that need a little more attention, and responsible with not only our pets but with our home. I really appreciate a kind heart and trustful person like Lise. She is my first choice to take care of my pets and I 100% recommend her. Lise, thank you!”

“Excellent sitter! Very attentive to our boys and even brought extra toys for our kitty to enjoy. Will hopefully book again. If anyone is looking for a sitter for multiple pets, Samuela is amazing.”

“Violeta sent pictures and emails frequently for me to feel sure that my girl was doing well. Whenever there was a question about something she was in touch to get it right.”

“We have a large pet family with dogs, cats, chickens and a duck. Joshua took great care of them all at our house for the two nights we were away. It always makes me anxious to leave our animals, but Joshua was easy to work with and stayed in constant communication with us. And all of our animals seemed content when we got home.”

“Emmeline was great! I felt comfortable leaving my fur babies with her after the first meeting and I can back with them in great shape. She also gives great recaps of the day.”

“Vivienne was AMAZING! I was very glad when she agreed to a meet and greet and got to meet my pup and get a rundown of the house and our routine, and she delivered perfectly. I could tell my pup felt right at home with her, and was very happy to go with her on a coffee run. She took great care of her, we’ll definitely be rebooking.”

“Oliver is amazing! He was incredibly patient with my shy, slow to warm dog Tulip. I am super grateful for his friendly professional attentiveness and meeting with us 4x before the actual dog home sit days to get to know her. She bonded after the 5 nights with him. A very heart-warming successful Rover experience. So relieved to have a dependable and local dog sitter. Wr highly recommend Oliver!! 🤍🐶”

“Cheyenne was awesome! She filled in last minute (during Christmas no less) and was totally flexible with my wacky travel plans. I never worried once about my pups, she was always sending pictures and updates. She also helped out with general house stuff (watering plants) and my house looked neat and tidy with clean sheets when I got home. When my dog destroyed her toy, Cheyenne got her another one, so sweet and thoughtful! I would definitely use her again!”

“Cheryl is very comfortable with dogs and house-sitting and life in general, and she sat for us on short notice which enabled us to spend a week with our grandkids. We got lots of pictures and reports and Rio was happy and well-cared for. Thanks to Cheryl and we would highly recommend her.”

“Dustin is probably one of the best sitters we’ve ever had. He was so respectful, responsive and responsible. He obviously cared about our fur babies very much and was great at sending pictures, updates and any questions. If I asked a question he was very quick to respond. It’s awesome to come home to a neat house too. It’s great knowing we have a local sitter now, if needed.”

“Bianca was outstanding! She house/pet sat for our two dogs while we were away for 10 days. We received daily updates and photos. She let us know details about the dogs and our house was perfect when we returned. Her experience with animals and understanding of behaviors is clear. Would highly recommend her!!”

“Danielle S. was a wonderful dog sitter! She was reliable, responsible, and dependable from start to finish. Most importantly, my dogs absolutely loved her and were clearly very comfortable in her care. I also really appreciated that she honored the commitment and didn’t cancel at the last minute, which unfortunately can be a concern with pet sitters. I would definitely recommend her and would happily have her care for my dogs again!”

About: I’ve volunteered at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society. I have always been around animals/pets and can’t remember a time I have ever been without one Animals have genuinely been part of my everyday rhythm for my while life, this isn't just a side gig I squeeze in, it's something I structure my days around. I keep my schedule flexible enough to accommodate early morning walks, midday potty breaks, or last-minute evening visits, because I know pets don't operate on a 9-to-5. Whether I'm caring for my own pets or a client's, mornings usually start with a walk or playtime to burn off that early energy, followed by feeding and a calmer stretch of the day, and then another walk or check-in before evening. I build my week around consistency, because pets thrive on routine, and I want them to feel like nothing has changed just because their person is away. I care for pets with the extreme focus and attention, checking on them very constantly and frequently to make sure the animal is doing ok and is in a comfortable environment. When I come to your home, my priority is keeping your pet's world exactly as familiar as possible, same feeding spot, same walk route, same bedtime routine. I follow your instructions closely, whether that's a specific leash technique, a feeding schedule down to the half-cup, or a particular way your cat likes to be greeted. I also keep an eye on the house itself, bringing in mail, rotating lights, making sure everything looks lived-in, so you're coming home to total peace of mind, not just a fed pet.
About: I’ve been a dog owner for over 10 years and have experience caring for both small and large breeds. I grew up with a dachshund and now have a Bernedoodle, so I’m comfortable with everything from little lap dogs to energetic, larger pups. I know that every dog has their own personality and routine, and I always do my best to make them feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, belly rubs, or just hanging out on the couch, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at. I’ll care for your pet like they’re one of my own and keep you updated with photos and messages along the way! I provide attentive, reliable pet care tailored to each dog's individual needs. Services include walks, playtime, feeding, fresh water, administering basic medications if needed, potty breaks, companionship, and plenty of love and attention. I enjoy keeping dogs active through outdoor play, neighborhood walks, and enrichment activities while also respecting the routines and preferences that help them feel comfortable. My home has a secure fenced backyard where dogs can safely run, explore, and burn off energy under supervision. I've been a dog owner for over 10 years and have experience caring for both small and large breeds. I previously owned a Dachshund and currently have a friendly Bernedoodle, giving me firsthand experience with different personalities, energy levels, and care requirements. In addition to caring for my own dogs, I've spent years looking after pets for family and friends, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I understand the importance of clear communication, consistency, and treating every pet like a member of the family. I work from home, which allows me to spend the majority of the day with the pets in my care. This means they'll receive frequent potty breaks, regular exercise, lots of attention, and very little time left alone. My flexible schedule allows me to stick to your pet's normal routine as closely as possible, helping them feel comfortable, secure, and happy while you're away. I believe every pet deserves patience, affection, and dependable care, and I strive to make them feel like part of my own family from the moment they arrive. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor play and will always follow your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, and any special instructions. Whether we’re playing, walking, or relaxing at home, I’ll treat your dog like one of my own and keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages while you’re away.
“Karen-Joyce is a gem. I live out of town on some acreage, down a dirt road, with lots of animals and goings on. She handled everybody with ease, caught on quickly to house rules, and showed just general confidence and sense on how to run the house. I felt confidence when I left on my trip! When I came home, everybody felt happy, settled, and the house was clean and organized. She is adaptable, communicative, responsive, capable... I strongly recommend her. Thank you, Karen-Joyce!”

Dustin is probably one of the best sitters we’ve ever had. He was so respectful, responsive and responsible. He obviously cared about our fur babies very much and was great at sending pictures, updates and any questions. If I asked a question he was very quick to respond. Vivienne did a great job watching our dogs Honeybee and Isaac for over a week! She stayed at our house and when we returned it was in great shape and clean. She even watered our plants while we were gone, and sent several photos cuddling with the pups. We would definitely ask her to watch them again!

Tim is a great house sitter and pet caretaker. He sent us numerous photos and videos of our cats while he stayed in our home, and also kept our hummingbird feeder filled, and plants watered. He's quite personable and friendly, and we look forward to having him care for our pets, plants and home again.

Laurie was a dream come true. When a sudden, unexpected trip pulled our family away in the midst of house construction, we were in a tizzy and had never used Rover. Laurie arrived like a fairy godmother and took our cats in her care. The workmen let them escape, accidentally left them in a room without their litterbox, food, or water, and various other potential disasters - and each time she handled the emergencies with care, consideration, and common sense. Her communication was great, and she left our home cleaner than it was when she got there. By the time we came home two weeks later, our cats were cuddling with her every night and were in great spirits in spite of everything. We will certainly be asking her to come back!

Lis a remarkable woman. She came a day early to meet Madison. After about 20 minutes it became quite apparent she and Maddie would be a great match. Each day we received photos and updates on our dog. In all she seemed happy and at ease. We returned home to a relaxed joyful dog and an immaculate house. Lis is a treasure.
David is simply the best! We came to Santa Fe from Denver for a few days (Monday-Thursday) and we have 7 and 8 year old Border Terriers. Our male has epilepsy, and we do not leave him alone, so we hired David to watch them. David came on Monday night, Tuesday day, Tuesday night, Wednesday day and Wednesday night so that we could go out to dinner, go to the spa, etc. He stayed for several hours at a time, which was a big ask, especially since he has his own pup, but we couldn't ask for a better experience with him. He arrived on time or early, walked them, played with them, administered medications, gave them snacks and loved them! He sent us lots of videos and photos and updates, so we knew they were being taken care of and meds given, etc. He is also just a lovely person, and we really enjoyed getting to know him. He has a calming energy which was great for my boy with epilepsy. We won't hesitate to use him again if we go back to Santa Fe. Thank you so much David!

Vicki is fantastic! Our flight back was delayed and Vicki was able to stay at our house for the rest of the day until we were on our way back. We are so happy with the care she gave our dogs and will definitely book her for all future stays. Could not be happier with the entire experience.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santa Fe walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santa Fe maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santa Fe choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Santa Fe. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
