About: I grew up on a farm in Australia and I’m a lifelong dog lover with a rescue dog of my own. I have shelter volunteer experience in which I’ve been trained to handle a variety of dog breeds and temperaments. It would be my pleasure to take care of your dog as I would my own! I love to run also so feel free to request some extra speed on the walks for high energy pups! I work remotely as a software engineer with a flexible schedule. I’m usually busy with meetings early morning but after that I’m all yours! Weekends can be less predictable but happy to work in times with some notice. I’m a shelter volunteer so have been trained in how to create safe environments and identify risk factors. I will always put the dogs well being first and take on board all requests and advice from the owners.

About: I adore dogs! I have cared for many pets and homes throughout my life, from small dogs and puppies to Brittanys and Labs. I am very experienced in walking dogs, playing with them, and providing their basic food and water needs. I genuinely love dogs, and can't get enough of them. I have also cared for birds, fish, and other small pets such as hamsters and Guinea pigs. I am an expert caretaker of homes, both apartments and houses. I have served as a long-term housesitter for friends and families, and while I am not a homeowner, I have rented numerous houses and cared for them meticulously. I also absolutely love gardening and am quite experienced, so I am more than happy to provide gardening and landscaping maintenance. I am a professor, so I have a lot of flexibility in the summer months until mid to late August. During the summer months, I teach a bit and do some activities, but I am able to be home as much as needed to care for pets. I am careful and conscientious with pets. I make sure they have enough to eat, drink, and enough exercise. I am good at taking dogs on walks, and I follow owners' instructions to the letter.

I don’t really need to explain why Rachel deserves 5 stars, she just does. She was communicative every step of the way and SO patient with my problem puppy (who really just a little anxious). She sent pics and updates every day, came once without pay, and deserves 7/5 stars, let’s be real. She was never ever late, never ever skipped, and made it so easy being thousands of miles away from my babes!

About: I have extensive experience babysitting for families with children of all ages, which has made me highly responsible, patient, attentive, and great at handling different personalities and routines. I also have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, making me flexible and dependable for walks, drop-ins, or last-minute needs. In addition, my experience working at Starbucks taught me how to stay calm under pressure, communicate professionally, multitask efficiently, and provide excellent care and service in fast-paced environments. I have a flexible and well-balanced schedule that allows me to consistently make time for pet care throughout the day. I’m usually up early, making mornings great for walks, feedings, or check-ins, and I have availability throughout the afternoon and evenings for longer visits, playtime, exercise, or overnight care. I’m very organized and used to balancing multiple responsibilities, so I’m dependable when it comes to maintaining routines and giving pets consistent attention, care, and companionship. I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet in my care by closely following each owner’s instructions, routines, and preferences. Whether I’m caring for pets in a client’s home or taking them on walks, I make sure they feel secure, well-supervised, and given plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and bathroom breaks. I’m attentive to pets’ behavior and needs, keep environments clean and safe, and always communicate with owners through updates and photos so they feel confident their pet is in good hands.

About: I have over 6 years of experience caring for dogs and cats through pet sitting, dog walking, and general animal care. I grew up around pets and animals my whole life, so I am very comfortable with different personalities, routines, and care needs. I truly enjoy spending time with both my own pets and other people’s pets, and I always try to make sure they feel safe, cared for, and comfortable while their owners are away. I am currently home from college for the summer and am not working a job so I have plenty of time to work with your pets. I spend most of my time in nature, working out, or spending time with my own pets so taking care of your pets would be my main priority and responsibility. I always prioritize your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine. I will follow your specific guidelines for things like backyard access, leash rules, off-leash activity, and whether your pet is allowed to interact with other animals. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Olivia is well-loved on here for a reason! She is warm, caring and responsible. You will have nothing to worry about even if you are the most anxious type of pet parent, as I am after trying so many sitters over the years and some of them have not been great. These days I have a very shy and skittish type of kitty, he wouldn't come out at all (even after several days) for the last sitter I tried. With Liv, it's a totally different story. He not only ate well (which was an issue the last time I tried to leave him), but also he came out for his dinner while she was there, and allowed pets!! She made an effort to show that she was reading the detailed instructions I left, communicated exactly how everything went with notes and photos, and just generally has a gentle, sweet energy that would put anyone at ease. She clearly takes pride in doing things well, and it shows that she loves animals. I feel lucky to have found her to care for my little guy!

Sarah is an absolute delight — gentle, flexible, and kind! We had an introductory visit a couple weeks ago, and my senior pup Jack Cousteau immediately fell in love with her. Jack’s had some health changes and his care needs are changing too — so there have been some tender adjustments to ensure optimal health and comfort. Studying veterinary medicine makes Sarah a perfect match for my sweet fella. She spent time with him this evening and sent updates throughout their time together, including sweet footage of introducing Jack to her dog at her home (living just across the street from us makes field trips like this a breeze!) I’m looking forward to Jack and Sarah bonding more and establishing care with a familiar human. I can’t recommend her more!

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a San Quentin stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Quentin. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
