“Lauren is amazing, very efficient and professional, my kitten LOVES her and I feel so secure knowing that my baby Charo is in such good hands when I am at work. Thankful for the recurring visit option, it has made my life so much easier, thank you!!!”

About: I have had dogs my entire life and spent the last year working as a veterinary technician, and worked alongside ranch dogs for two years before that. I am comfortable with dogs (plus cats and ranch animals!) of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. My veterinary background also makes me comfortable with medications and specialty care. I really enjoy being able to get to know each pet’s unique personality! My schedule is currently pretty flexible, which gives me plenty of time for walks and drop-ins throughout the week. I can accommodate different days and times whenever possible! I am happy to follow your pet’s normal routine and any specific care instructions. My veterinary background has given me experience with pet first aid, medications, and special needs, as well as recognizing changes in behavior or health. I am always excited to meet and spend time with new pets!
“Jackie care for our shy cat, Mick, over the Thanksgiving break. She did an exceptional job. Communication was frequently and clear and service provided went above and beyond! Will 100% work with Jackie again!”

“Thank you Tania for your visit today. Boo-Boo was happy to meet you and looks forward to seeing you next month! You were on time, and understood his daily routine needs. I know he will be in good hands during our travel dates. Thanks Again!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs and cats and have been caring for pets of friends and family for many years. For over 2 years in the U.S., I’ve been doing house sitting and dog walking, and I truly value the trust owners place in me when they leave their home and pets in my care. I have experience with a wide range of breeds, from small companion dogs to large, active breeds, as well as mixed breeds. I’m attentive to routines, feeding schedules, walks, and individual personalities. I understand how important it is for pets to feel calm, safe, and comfortable while their owners are away. I’m very mindful of cleanliness, order, and respecting the home as if it were my own. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and building a calm, trusting connection with them❤️ My goal is to build a trusting connection where both pets and owners feel relaxed and confident. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends! My flexible schedule allows me to spend a lot of quality time with your pets. I love being around them, keeping them company, and making sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, and care throughout the day😌 I love playing with dogs, and I can also teach them new commands if you’d like. When we go for walks, I give them my full attention and make sure they feel safe and comfortable. I also enjoy feeding them and giving them any treats they’re used to having and that you approve of. I’ll usually brush them as well and try to keep their routine as close as possible to what they’re used to. If they enjoy socializing, we can go to a dog park or meet other dogs during our walks. And if they prefer to avoid other dogs, I’m happy to choose quieter routes and give them the space they need💛 I can give them their medication in specific time) And of course I love them, I think that it’s very important for dogs as for people. My behavior is different with all dogs, because all of them have their own character and favorite/unloved things and their safety and comfort are on the first place for me.
About: I grew up on a farm in Australia and I’m a lifelong dog lover with a rescue dog of my own. I have shelter volunteer experience in which I’ve been trained to handle a variety of dog breeds and temperaments. It would be my pleasure to take care of your dog as I would my own! I love to run also so feel free to request some extra speed on the walks for high energy pups! I work remotely as a software engineer with a flexible schedule. I’m usually busy with meetings early morning but after that I’m all yours! Weekends can be less predictable but happy to work in times with some notice. I’m a shelter volunteer so have been trained in how to create safe environments and identify risk factors. I will always put the dogs well being first and take on board all requests and advice from the owners.

About: I started my career in veterinary services at 16 by volunteering for a small, non-profit rescue in Los Angeles. Now, I work at an animal hospital in the city and pet-sit for a roster of clients. I specialize in senior animal care, but adore pets of all ages! Our animal hospital is closed from 12-2pm, so I take advantage of this break by attending to any pet-sitting/walking related care. I have odd days off as well, so I am flexible for day-to-day care. I use a trauma-informed, consent-based approach to any animal I interact with. My career involves working with animals who are at their most stressed state, which allows me to understand how to cultivate the absolute most comfortable experience.

As a pet sitter, I would also be offering a variety of services such as walking and feeding pets, administering basic medications and providing companionship for them while the owners are unable to be there. I’m currently not working so I’m home full time. Taking care of your little sweet pet will be my full time job ! And I do a great job at it I have a fenced yard and also a park about a 5 minute walk from me . Your pet will be in the best care. About: My wife and I own our home and have large yard in sunny Corte Madera, about 15 miles north of San Francisco. I previously owned a veterinary hospital and pet boarding facility, so working with dogs is a life long passion of mine. Senior pets are welcome!!! I've had San Francisco (city) customers before, but mainly Marin County residents. Pups will have loving care around the clock. I’m retired and my wife works out of the house. Safe and secure environment with 24 hour monitoring. Secure fenced in yard with doggie door. Pups understand very quickly that we are there to take care of them and they feel safe and secure with us.
About: Growing up owning dogs since I was born, I’ve always been passionate about making sure they have the best care. After losing my dog of 14 years, I find myself missing those long walks and hours of playing! That being said, I also understand from first hand experience how to best take care of senior dogs. I love dogs of all sizes and breeds and am confident that, given the opportunity, I can become your dog’s (second) favorite person. I am currently working for myself with flexible hours which keeps me very open for watching your pups! I work from home and can be counted on for last minute walks, long walks, shorts walks, and more. Whether you have an older pup who needs meds and love or a puppy who wants to hike all day, I’m ready to make sure your dog is safe, happy, and living their best life. I live in a dog friendly apartment that is off the street. Across from my home is a beautiful park with a fenced in dog park if you are open to that, otherwise I stick to safe dog friendly routes and am happy to continue on your regular walk path or take your dog on an adventure.

About: I have 20 years experience with bully breeds, and all the health issues that entails, but I’m open to sitting any breed (they are all good dogs!). I live at the beach, so your pup will get long beach walks and/or mountain trail hikes during the day, then sleepy downtime at night. It’s a pet paradise! Update 2/26: I just adopted a mastiff, so I’m not doing any in home boarding until I get her settled in her new home, but I’m still happy to do drop ins or walks for other dogs. Your dog will enjoy morning beach walks or trail hikes, or walks in a stroller if your pet has mobility issues. Daylight hours are spent being active, and evenings are resto-relaxo. I have a fenced and private front and backyard with fake grass for your pet to use. No stairs to navigate - single level home a block from the ocean. Just tell me your dogs energy level and exercise needs, and I’ll create the perfect doggy vacation!
About: Growing up, I was the main caretaker for my Shih Tzu for most of my childhood and teenage years until she passed at 13 a few years ago. I have cat sat for friends and now regularly care for my boyfriend’s two large English Labradors whom I love with my whole heart. I am currently a full time college student and a part time worker, however I have free weekends and tend to have free weekdays after 2 pm. I am a very attentive caretaker who loves to sit and spend quality time with your pet! I love going for walks, playing with toys, or sitting with them to keep them company. I plan to take care of your pet in exactly the same way that I would want mine taken care of.
About: I’ve cared for dogs, horses, cats, fish and other animals for decades, both professionally and for friends and family. I currently have 2 Jack Russell’s. I am retired and my time is my own, and very flexible. Dogs are a great fit for my daily hiking routine and my lifestyle. When caring for pets in a clients home I follow their instructions to the letter. At my home pets have access to the entire house.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Manzanita
I've been so lucky to find someone who understands my sometimes fearful/reactive senior rescue dog. Marielle is so kind and did all the right things to make introductions with my dog a positive experience for her. There are very few other people I would trust to take my 65 pound shepherd/bully mix out on a walk and not have to worry. Having another person I know Winnie trusts makes life so much less stressful when I have busy weeks at work, and Winnie is so happy to have a new friend to hang out with.

We’re very happy with the care Anjali provided for our kitties while we were away. She was responsible, reliable, and very loving with them. She sent us regular updates and photos, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. At one point, I reached out to her because I needed her to check something specific with their litter box and automatic feeder, and she responded right away and took care of it. Communication was great throughout, and we felt very comfortable knowing our kitties were in good hands. We would definitely recommend her!

Genna was amazing! She took great care of my cat Nutella. She brushed her, played with her, fed her and gave her lots of love. She offered to meet before and noted down everything on Nutella routine. Also a bird got into the apartment and Nutella killed it, and Genna took care of everything, even vacuumed. Genna was amazing, I highly recommend her

Linda was able to watch out dog Zoe for 8 days over the holiday. We had another rover cancel and were thrilled to find Linda. She stopped in twice a day to feed, walk and entertain our dog. We loved getting the daily pictures and knew our dog was in good hands.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
