About: Hey, pup friend! I am so excited to meet and love on your pup. I am a UX/UI designer with a nonprofit and I work from home, so whether your dog needs a buddy for the weekend or a work day, I’ve got you covered. I have one sweet pup, Potato, a mini Australian labradoodle who never met a friend he didn't love - human or doggo or otherwise. If you're looking for a personalized boarding experience where your pet gets excellent care and comes back as happy-tired as after a full day at the dog park, I’m your gal. I love taking dogs on hikes near Mount Tam and to the beach when we're on our turf and I firmly believe in the importance of treats and scratchies. I live in an apartment by a dog-friendly beach so we’ll definitely be playing at the playa. I follow your rules so your pet has the same high caliber of care here as at their home. I offer flexible drop-off and pick-up times from 8 am to 8 pm. I take my pup on a daily walk and play with him pretty much constantly whenever he’s not snoozing. Please keep in mind, I only board pups over a year old and cannot board dogs who are not fully potty trained or who need to be taken out more frequently than every 3 hours to potty. I like to follow the rules you've established for your pets - if they aren't allowed on furniture, I’ll make sure that stays. If they are, they're welcome to snuggle on the couch with us. I work from home and take my dog to the beach daily as well as on frequent walks and hikes. We are pretty flexible around here! In my home, we follow your rules. Potato is used to snuggling on rye couch during movie night and on the bed overnight. We welcome snuggle buddies! I am home most of the day working so pets get LOTS of attention and love.

About: Warm dog mom to a 13-year-old dachshund! I provide a structured, fun, and cozy environment with potty breaks every two hours and plenty of walks I'm home full time as I transition to my next job in the Bay Area. I can help with overnight stays, walks and general dog care! In my home, I provide a structured, cozy, and safe environment for pets. I have a small patio with no escape route, ensuring a secure outdoor space. When walking dogs, I’m highly aware of my surroundings to keep them protected at all times. I do not crate my own dog, but I’m happy to do so if that’s your preference. Every pup in my care receives the same love and attention my dog gets, regular potty breaks, and plenty of blankets to make them feel at home!

Dennis was extremely flexible with a list minute day sitting appointment. Our dog is timid and fairly shy so Dennis was very conscientious about introducing her to the pack slowly. When I picked her up, it was clear she had become fond of Dennis. And when we got home, she passed right out. Thanks so much for taking care of Piki!

About: I grew up with dogs and I’ve been a dog owner most of my adult life. I’ve also been a dog owner from the puppy age of eight weeks all the way through mature life. I can take care of other pets as well, and I can be available for dog boarding, dog sitting, dog walks, and other pet care during your weekends and travels. I am a part-time parent and establishing this as additional income since I am a single income household in Marin county. I am available for dog walking and boarding on alternating weekends, and during periods of your travels when I am in town. I am an outdoors woman, and will get pets outside and active regularly. I know several local dog parks and dog-friendly trails since I’ve been a dog owner myself for years (I no longer have a dog as of early 2025). I have a fenced front and backyard. I can house a pet with all of your personal items for the pet anywhere in my home, and I can provide highly personalized care since I live alone (part time parent with alternating weekends on my own).

About: Hi! I’ve been around dogs since I was 5 years old, and I can’t imagine life without them. I recently welcomed two playful puppies into my family, so I’m very familiar with the energy (and patience!) it takes to care for dogs of all ages. I love going on walks, making sure pups are well-fed, playing with them, and of course giving lots of cuddles. Pet parents can count on me to be responsible, reliable, and caring. I always treat dogs like they’re my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Whether it’s keeping up with their daily routine, giving them extra playtime, or just being a comforting companion, I’ll make sure your pup is well taken care of. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because dogs have always been a big part of my life. I’m originally from Southern California, but I’m currently in the Bay Area for school, and I would love the chance to spend more time with dogs while I’m here. As a full-time nursing student, I’m available later in the evenings on Fridays and fully free on weekends. Caring for dogs is something I truly enjoy, and I’d love to spend my free time walking, playing, and cuddling with pups who need some extra love and attention! Since I live in a small college dorm, I’m only able to provide pet care in clients’ homes. When caring for pets, I focus on making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I stick closely to each pet’s normal routine — feeding times, walks, playtime, and any special instructions — so they feel at ease. I give plenty of attention, cuddles, and play, and I always keep an eye on their well-being. I’m respectful of the client’s space and make sure everything is left neat and tidy. My goal is for every pup (and their owner!) to feel happy, stress-free, and well cared for while we’re together.

About: I have extensive experience babysitting for families with children of all ages, which has made me highly responsible, patient, attentive, and great at handling different personalities and routines. I also have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, making me flexible and dependable for walks, drop-ins, or last-minute needs. In addition, my experience working at Starbucks taught me how to stay calm under pressure, communicate professionally, multitask efficiently, and provide excellent care and service in fast-paced environments. I have a flexible and well-balanced schedule that allows me to consistently make time for pet care throughout the day. I’m usually up early, making mornings great for walks, feedings, or check-ins, and I have availability throughout the afternoon and evenings for longer visits, playtime, exercise, or overnight care. I’m very organized and used to balancing multiple responsibilities, so I’m dependable when it comes to maintaining routines and giving pets consistent attention, care, and companionship. I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet in my care by closely following each owner’s instructions, routines, and preferences. Whether I’m caring for pets in a client’s home or taking them on walks, I make sure they feel secure, well-supervised, and given plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and bathroom breaks. I’m attentive to pets’ behavior and needs, keep environments clean and safe, and always communicate with owners through updates and photos so they feel confident their pet is in good hands.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your San Quentin commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 4,048 sitters in San Quentin, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
