“Ashley and Josh did a great job watching our dachshund Wally. We loved that they have dachshunds too and know their quirks and how to keep them safe. Wally had a great time and can’t wait to go back!”

“We just moved to the area and are thrilled to meet Halee! We did a quick meet and greet and then sent our dog for the day. I was particularly appreciative that when our timing changed, Halee went above and beyond to be flexible with us. She took our dog on really long walks, and he came home so happy! She even gave me some helpful tips, when asked, of how to train and support our dog. We liked her so much. We are already doing an overnight with her later this week. She loves dogs and was willing to price her services competitively which we really appreciate. We highly recommend her!”

About: Hey, pup friend! I am so excited to meet and love on your pup. I am a UX/UI designer with a nonprofit and I work from home, so whether your dog needs a buddy for the weekend or a work day, I’ve got you covered. I have one sweet pup, Potato, a mini Australian labradoodle who never met a friend he didn't love - human or doggo or otherwise. If you're looking for a personalized boarding experience where your pet gets excellent care and comes back as happy-tired as after a full day at the dog park, I’m your gal. I love taking dogs on hikes near Mount Tam and to the beach when we're on our turf and I firmly believe in the importance of treats and scratchies. I live in an apartment by a dog-friendly beach so we’ll definitely be playing at the playa. I follow your rules so your pet has the same high caliber of care here as at their home. I offer flexible drop-off and pick-up times from 8 am to 8 pm. I take my pup on a daily walk and play with him pretty much constantly whenever he’s not snoozing. Please keep in mind, I only board pups over a year old and cannot board dogs who are not fully potty trained or who need to be taken out more frequently than every 3 hours to potty. I like to follow the rules you've established for your pets - if they aren't allowed on furniture, I’ll make sure that stays. If they are, they're welcome to snuggle on the couch with us. I work from home and take my dog to the beach daily as well as on frequent walks and hikes. We are pretty flexible around here! In my home, we follow your rules. Potato is used to snuggling on rye couch during movie night and on the bed overnight. We welcome snuggle buddies! I am home most of the day working so pets get LOTS of attention and love.
“Kevin was amazing! Not only did he save me in a pinch…but he took great care of Dezi and even sent me pictures and videos! Dezi can’t wait to go back and play with Milo again!”

“Jake and Sam took such kind and loving care of Ruckus on very short notice. This dad and daughter team made pick-up and drop-off easy, and our pup was so happy (and sleepy) from all the fun at the end of the day. Thank you both!”

About: I've been caring for dogs for as long as I can remember and love spending time with animals. I have worked at the humane society taking care of a variety of pets and find a lot of joy in doing so. Growing up, I regularly walked and cared for my own dog throughout San Francisco and later in Larkspur. Over the years, neighbors, friends, and family have trusted me to walk their dogs, provide pet sitting, and make sure their pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while they're away. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and needs, and I always strive to give them the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve. Whether your pet needs a long walk, playtime, or a reliable sitter, I'll be able to do it! I am currently available full time and would be happy to hang out with pets whenever! I love spending time with all pets and love to go on long walks. I have a fenced yard and one dog who is very kind with other dogs. I love taking care of pets and will love to walk/play with them.

About: I grew up with dogs and I’ve been a dog owner most of my adult life. I’ve also been a dog owner from the puppy age of eight weeks all the way through mature life. I can take care of other pets as well, and I can be available for dog boarding, dog sitting, dog walks, and other pet care during your weekends and travels. I am a part-time parent and establishing this as additional income since I am a single income household in Marin county. I am available for dog walking and boarding on alternating weekends, and during periods of your travels when I am in town. I am an outdoors woman, and will get pets outside and active regularly. I know several local dog parks and dog-friendly trails since I’ve been a dog owner myself for years (I no longer have a dog as of early 2025). I have a fenced front and backyard. I can house a pet with all of your personal items for the pet anywhere in my home, and I can provide highly personalized care since I live alone (part time parent with alternating weekends on my own).
“Elena was so sweet, caring, and very accommodating for a last minute booking. I felt so comfortable leaving my dog with her and he had a great time on his little hike. So happy to have found a new sitter in the area 🙂”

Milo is almost 17 years old! He is part Corgi and Part Belgian Shepard. He loves other pets that visit us.

“(I really appreciate your flexibility, Dennis, on the timing. I will endeavor to NOT need to do that in the future however.) Dennis gained my confidence almost immediately. This was our second time there, and yes my dog came home happy. But most important, she was VERY happy to go there! Ran me up the steps. YAY!”

“Matt has been so wonderful with our miniature dachshund Winston! He’s having some separation anxiety and finding Matt has been a god send! Winston comes home totally happy and is clearly getting lots of love while they hang! Matt is easy to communicate with and responds quickly. Can’t recommend him enough!”

“It was great to see my dog eagerly jump out of car and run to greet Adriana! Their fenced yard was perfect, and they are very caring day care providers. I highly recommend Adriana and Derek.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - San Quentin
Ashley was great! She was super responsive when I needed a last-minute dog sitter, and I felt confident leaving my puppy with her and her partner. I got lots of updates throughout the day and Greta got 2 walks with her sweet Dachshunds. Will absolutely work with Ashley again - thank you!

Krystle was not only great with Leo and Bailey, bonding with them instantly and taking them on a wonderful Sunday afternoon walk, but endlessly patient and flexible with their owner, who kept screwing up, and changing, the requested date and service times. Krystle was lovely to deal with and we would happily engage her again--and again.

Anu was very responsive from the moment we connected, answered texts right away. We set a meet and greet at her place that was helpful. And she was prompt and on top of her game when we left Mushu with her, feeding and walking him. She was attentive to instructions for care. I’d use her services again in a heartbeat!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
