“We got married out of state and needed someone kind of last minute to come hang with the dogs at our Airbnb for a few hours. Alexa to the rescue!! Our dogs immediately loved her and were at ease with her. We kinda wish we lived in CA so Oliver and Axel could see her again! Thank you so much, Alexa! You're the best!”

“Julianna was fantastic! She was highly communicative throughout the entire stay and my corgi took to her right away—which says a lot. I really appreciated her overnight care and felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in great hands. I’ve already referred her to family and will absolutely be booking with her again!”

About: I have a big family and we’ve had pets since I was born!! I had a dog for a short period when I was a little kid, but mostly grew up with my 3 cats (one who sadly recently passed). My extended family has always had dogs and they would hire me and my sister to dog sit while they were on vacation or walk during random times of the week. It’s always the best part of my week (next to laying in bed w my kitties). In addition to that I was a nanny for 3 1/2 years where I learned what it’s like to be responsible and compassionate towards taking care of others (and their pets of course)! I am a college student at Saddleback College and I have my own online business (work at home) so my schedule is very very flexible! I do have cats at home that stay indoors but also a fenced in backyard and a neighborhood with dog parks and lots of beach trails!
“Angey was amazing! She was prompt, friendly, knowledgable, and professional. Aside from all that, she loved on our 2 dogs, and we could tell they loved her too. The house was kept immaculate, and we'll definitely work with her again in the future. Spectacular experience.”

“Thank you Katie! Katie took care of both our dog and cat during our vacation and did a FANTASTIC job. She gave them all the love and snuggles they needed. Everything was tidied and and left in order. And we felt secure in leaving our home and pets in her care. We would not hesitate to ask Katie to house/pet sit again!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Hannah! She took care of our pups overnight and was absolutely terrific. She was responsible, caring, and kept us updated so we felt completely at ease. The dogs clearly loved her, and we came home to happy, relaxed pups and a house that was neat and tidy. definitely trust Hannah to watch them again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving sitter.”

About: I am a huge animal lover and have been a rover sitter for over 2 years! I grew up raising puppies and have always been surrounded by animals. This last year I worked on a homestead caring for chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. I love being able to meet new pets and their amazing owners! I currently work part time and update my availability consistently. I usually work mornings 2-3 days, so I can provide pet care most mornings, afternoons and nights. In a clients home I offer lots of snuggles and playtime! On walks I allow dogs to sniff, play and get their exercise. Safety and security is also my top priority with your pet. Getting to know your pets personality is a big part of my philosophy with pet care.

About: I have many years of hands-on experience caring for dogs, including daily walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I work remotely and can stay in your home, providing calm, reliable care and keeping your dog comfortable in their own space. I work remotely, which allows me to be home all day and give pets plenty of attention. I can provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, and companionship while staying overnight in your home to keep routines consistent and stress-free. I prioritize keeping pets comfortable in their own home and following their normal routines. I respect your space, keep doors and gates secure, follow feeding and care instructions closely, and provide regular updates so you feel at ease while you’re away.
About: I’ve been caring for animals since I was 8 years old, from tiny Yorkies to giant Great Danes! I treat every dog like family and make sure they feel safe, loved, and spoiled while you’re away. Whether your pup loves playtime, cuddles, long walks, or just a calm companion, I’m happy to match their vibe and keep you updated along the way.” Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine since I work remotely and have a flexible schedule. I’m home most of the day, which means plenty of attention, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and cuddles throughout the day. I love having animals around and enjoy making them feel comfortable, safe, and part of the routine while they’re with me. In my home, I make sure pets have a safe, comfortable, and loving environment where they can relax and feel at home. I stick to their normal routine as much as possible with feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and lots of attention and affection. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of both the pet’s routine and the home itself, making sure pets feel comfortable in their familiar space while keeping owners updated with photos and messages along the way.
About: I bring a unique level of experience and professionalism to pet care, shaped by over two decades of service as a U.S. Marine and certified dog handler. I’ve deployed to Afghanistan as a combat dog handler, later serving as a trainer and kennel master, where I was responsible for the care, training, and performance of working dogs in high-stress environments. I also hold training certifications from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as well as specialized credentials through the ATF and Department of Defense. This background not only taught me advanced skills in training puppies and adult dogs, but also in providing attentive care for senior and special-needs dogs. Above all, I bring patience, discipline, and a genuine love for animals—treating every dog I work with as if they were my own. I retired from active duty this year and I am a full time student, but I’m generally flexible in most situations and can work through challenges. My current residence is enclosed by a fence with a nice yard and patio area in a calm neighborhood by the pier in San Clemente, close to the beach and trails.
“Alexis was great with our dog. Brie was extremely excited to see her again! She took excellent care of Brie and understood her needs for walking and car rides! Our house was clean upon our arrival home, too. Highly recommend Alexis!”

“Janet was great with our pup! She is professional, communicative, and kind. We feel very comfortable leaving our pup and home under her care. We are looking forward to working with Janet again!”

“Lillian took excellent care of our dogs! Our dogs were comfortable with Lillian from the start, and she followed our detailed instructions in looking after them. Our house was spotless when we got home, and our dogs seemed happy and relaxed. Lillian was conscientious and responded very quickly to my messages. I felt peace of mind with her caring for my dogs while I was away!”

About: I have helped my mom care for animals my entire life. Throughout my teenage year I helped her care for 3 pit bulls and also helped at the shelter that she worked at walking the dogs and feeding the animals. As I grew older I had my own animals, such as a cat, lizard, multiple mice, and a dog I had trained from a puppy. I have recently moved and had to rehome my dog and would now like to use my experiences and love for animals to help other people. I am currently unemployed, on a job search and not having much luck… I have open availability for house sitting and playing with your pups! When I care for other people animals I start with going over the instructions of care the owners has provided with them while asking questions that will benefit me and the animals later. I then follow the feeding, exercising, and cleaning practices the owner has asked me to follow. While doing this I also watch how the animal is reacting to me and how much affection the animal itself needs from me, so I’m not overwhelming them.
“Kyle is literally a life saver! I was in desperate need of someone who could be really flexible with time, gentle and playful with two puppies, and two other adult chihuahuas. Kyle offered to meet in advance of booking with him to ensure that the dogs liked him enough. ? Kyle knew exactly how to approach each dog, and adapted to some very unique situations that came up during my 2-3 week time away. Kyle kept me informed at the perfect level, and sent photos and videos every day. I have never trusted anyone with my dogs before this trip, and I will rebook with Kyle EVERY time I need a house sitter for my pups. I think their actually going to be a bit heartbroken that he’s gone. Quality, trust, and care is all I got from Kyle, as did the dogs.”

About: I have cared for dogs and cats for the past 25 years. I am not afraid of big dogs (they’re actually my favorite!) and I am very respectful of the sensitivity that cats require. I am available for dog or cat visits and dog walks anytime after 3pm. I am on the beach trail in San Clemente almost every day so that is a favorite activity for dogs specifically. I am very respectful of the space I am visiting. I am there solely to care for your beloved pet. I am a trustworthy individual committed to the care of your pet.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - San Clemente
Katie is fantastic! We were so nervous leaving our dog for the first time, but Katie put our mind completely at ease. She sent several daily photo updates, followed all of our detailed care instructions, and our dog absolutely loved her. We returned home to a happy and tired pup. We highly recommend Katie and will definitely be booking her again!

Angey was amazing! She was prompt, friendly, knowledgable, and professional. Aside from all that, she loved on our 2 dogs, and we could tell they loved her too. The house was kept immaculate, and we'll definitely work with her again in the future. Spectacular experience.

100/10. Christine was so lovely and communicative. This was our first time leaving our pup somewhere and I didn’t even think twice about it. Christine sent pics and updates throughout the weekend, including pics! She took our girl on a hike, went to the beach, got tons of snuggles and treats. And the BEST part is she has a sweet husky that our pup loved to play with. Cannot recommend enough.

Jamie did a phenomenal job housesitting with Sisi. The day we left, Sisi started having some tummy issues, but Jamie handled it with grace and administered some oral meds. She gave us lots of detailed updates and took great care of our house. I knew our baby and home was in great hands with Jamie and will absolutely book with her again.

This was our first time having Sasha sit for us. She is awesome and did an amazing job. Both of my senior aged pups loved her and felt at ease, which made me feel better about having to leave them. I highly recommend Sasha and I will be booking her again soon.

Selina is amazing! She took care of our two senior dogs with such love and gave us daily updates. I'd recommend her to anyone! She was very dedicated to making them comfortable. She made sure she knew everything about the pups, their medication, and our house before we left. It was wonderful to know they were in good hands.

Abigail was amazing and kept us informed with updates and pictures throughout our trip in Europe. We have two very large dogs that can be a handful and she went above and beyond with everything. Our house was immaculate when we came back and our pups were well looked after. Will 100% rebook when our next trip comes up!!

Taylor was absolutely wonderful watching Wyatt Joel. I came home to a very happy kitty who was clearly well cared for and loved. She communicated with me throughout the visit, sent updates and photos, and was incredibly thoughtful — even offering to take care of extra tasks that weren’t required. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care really put me at ease. I’m so grateful to have found her and look forward to working with her again!

FAQs for House Sitting - San Clemente
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in San Clemente on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,376 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across San Clemente. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Clemente walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Clemente maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Clemente choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in San Clemente. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
