About: I've been walking dogs and visiting and sitting with them in owners' homes for Rover for about eight months. During this time, I've had many highly-satisfied customers, both recurring and one-time. I have cared for a wide range of dogs -- both the large and tough ones, like a massive greyhound, an uncharacteristically aggressive male lab, and a German shepherd/Husky cross -- and the small and vulnerable ones -- a 20-year-old miniature requiring loving TLC, and a fragile Bichon Frise. Prior to Rover, I've taken care of two family dogs who became family members, one of which I rescued from a neglectful owner. I was a hands-on dad to my son (now grown), got him the care he needed to survive and thrive as a preemie, and as a single parent knew well how to feed and change him and care for him when he was sick. As a senior, I have the experience and "seasoning" to know what's important, whether it's an infant or child or a family dog or a person with a disability or a senior like myself. So I know how to see to it that the one in my care is well cared for, happy, and loved. Since the condo development where my wife and I live doesn't allow dogs, I take special pleasure in spending time with them at every opportunity. I come from a long line of dog lovers on my dad's side, and I proudly carry on that tradition. I keep as active as the vicissitudes of age allow -- I currently am able to hike, swim and play pickleball, and have returned to 5K runs, tennis and kayaking. That fitness enables me to have what it takes to care for dogs of all ages and stages. I'm a retiree who does part-time volunteer work, both hands-on with elementary-school-aged children and legislative and policy advocacy on behalf of folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities. My other major activities are staying in shape and learning a foreign language. These part-time gigs, and the fact that my wife works part-time, leave me enough time to do some pet care. I cannot care for pets in my home, or for that matter have a dog, because the condo development where I live does not permit dogs. I care for dogs in their owner's homes, following their owners' lead, so to speak, and according to their owners' directives. Fortunately, this means that the dogs I care for, who know their way around their own turf, do not need to adjust to new environs. As a guest myself, I am naturally inclined to treat the home where I find myself with extra care and respect, more so than I would my own home.

About: I have been watching dogs for 7 years now and have a special spot for elderly dogs, and dog that are anxious. But I have experience with a wide range of ages and breads. I have experience with dogs with anxiety as well as giving oral medication to dogs and have many repeat owners coming to me. They all feel loved and special at my home. Which is why I only watch one dog at a time to give my full attention to them as well as it helps most anxious types to be alone. I also love giving dogs a bath if the owner is ok with it AND the dogs are ok with it 🙂 I have a somewhat flexible schedule for my job. I walk the dogs in the morning and leave around 9am and am usually back 3pm (Monday-Wednesday). When I come home in the afternoon I give the dog another walk as well as their evening walk. I am pretty flexible and am present most times and I am very free from Thursdays through the weekend. This depends on the personality of the dog. If the dog loves being pet, they can hang with me on my couch where they are pet. If they love playing I throw the ball around with them. I am attentive to their food and drink and talk to them 😂 and let them know how cute they are. Every dog is different in what they like and need for their care. So that is something that is discussed before hand with the client.

About: I can't remember a time when I did not have a pet in my life. Probably because there never was such a time! Mostly dogs, but, I have also been a proud cat owner. I have cared for friends' pets, and I understand that leaving your fur baby with someone requires trust. For several decades, I have chosen to adopt my animals from shelters. I can tell you that it has taught me to appreciate that every animal is different, with their own personality, quirks, routines, and needs. Our pets are part of our family. And, yes, they make mistakes at times, create messes, get into places they shouldn't. They're only human, after all! I promise to bring the same patience, care, and affection I show to my animals into every interaction I have with yours. I am available to walk your dog(s) and will be sure to take then on walks as long or short as you recommend, up to 40 minutes. I can stay and play with your pet for a while, as well. I will work within your guidelines and your pet's routine. I am also available for short overnight stays in your house. I am available for walking, playing, feeding, whatever you need. I will come to your home and am available for short overnight stays, if needed. Overnight stays will fall between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM. I am available weekdays, evenings, and weekends. I will work within your boundaries. You know your pet best, so tell me what they need, whether that's a long walk, extra water after play, specific treats at specific times, or simply making sure they’re comfortable in their crate or free to roam. You tell me what works for your pet, and I’ll follow their routine. They’re your family, and I’m here to help. Please note, short-term overnight stays are available between 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM.
