About: I've been walking dogs and visiting and sitting with them in owners' homes for Rover for about eight months. During this time, I've had many highly-satisfied customers, both recurring and one-time. I have cared for a wide range of dogs -- both the large and tough ones, like a massive greyhound, an uncharacteristically aggressive male lab, and a German shepherd/Husky cross -- and the small and vulnerable ones -- a 20-year-old miniature requiring loving TLC, and a fragile Bichon Frise. Prior to Rover, I've taken care of two family dogs who became family members, one of which I rescued from a neglectful owner. I was a hands-on dad to my son (now grown), got him the care he needed to survive and thrive as a preemie, and as a single parent knew well how to feed and change him and care for him when he was sick. As a senior, I have the experience and "seasoning" to know what's important, whether it's an infant or child or a family dog or a person with a disability or a senior like myself. So I know how to see to it that the one in my care is well cared for, happy, and loved. Since the condo development where my wife and I live doesn't allow dogs, I take special pleasure in spending time with them at every opportunity. I come from a long line of dog lovers on my dad's side, and I proudly carry on that tradition. I keep as active as the vicissitudes of age allow -- I currently am able to hike, swim and play pickleball, and have returned to 5K runs, tennis and kayaking. That fitness enables me to have what it takes to care for dogs of all ages and stages. I'm a retiree who does part-time volunteer work, both hands-on with elementary-school-aged children and legislative and policy advocacy on behalf of folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities. About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and truly can’t imagine life without them. As a lifelong dog lover, I care for every pup as if they were my own. I just moved back home from Nashville, TN. Where I was consistently dog sitting in my apartment for the 4 1/2 years living there. Previously before that, I was doing it in my Hoboken apartment for 3 years. We do have a family dog, a border collie / blue heeler, Luna who is 11 years old. She is used to being around other dogs, as we previously had a husky lab as well before she passed away. Kahmayah took my request last minute and literally saved my vacation as I would not have been able to go without her. I received pictures and videos daily and my pets were so happy and relaxed. After Alex walked Georgie once, and we met to confirm a longer stay, I had full confidence that he could handle my senior, diabetic, almost blind dog. I was right! Not only did I need someone who was caring, patient and responsible, Alex had to make sure Georgie got his insulin shots on time every day, twice a day. We have 2 German Shepards one working line and young that has a lot of energy and 6 year old large showline male who needs a moment to settle before being introduced. We also have a 15 yr old cat and she was great at spending quality time with him as well. She is an excellent communicator, gets back to you promptly, took amazing care of our home while we were out. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, Peter took awesome care of our shorthaired pointer Jeri while we were away for the day.
