“Peter was a wonderful sitter for our elderly dog! He was prompt in his responses, he made us feel at ease when we met him, and he continually updated us with details throughout his watch over our dog, who seemed so at ease upon our return. I could not recommend him enough. Thank you Peter!”

“Dani provided wonderful care for my animals and my home for a full 7 days without any hiccups. She was very communicative every day regarding the pets and ensured that there was always an open line of communication. Dani is knowledgeable about animals and truly cares about your pet. I know Dani is reliable and honest. The care, attention to detail, follow up, professionalism, and the love she has for her job and her furry clients is exceptional.”

About: I started my experience dog walking 2 years ago for a professor’s friend in Winchester, Virginia. Twice a week, I would walk her hyper pups. She then recommended me to her father, whose dog I began walking twice a week as well. From there, my mini business boomed through word of mouth. I began dog sitting in people’s homes as well for multiple individuals for varying time spans. Most of the dogs I interacted with were seniors and required extensive care. However, all dogs owners loved and recommended me to others! I still walk the original dogs and add in others as my schedule allows with two other jobs. I am sad to leave my extensive clientele in Winchester, but I am moving back to New Jersey for graduate school and excited to meet new puppy friends!! For the summertime, I am incredibly flexible with nothing planned. I prefer weekly walks / drop ins, but also like sitting as well. In August, I start physical therapy school at Columbia University so my availability will decrease but I’d be willing to provide services on nights / weekends. During breaks, my availability will open up again! Whenever walking / sitting, I respect the owner’s rules, no matter what. I long to maintain utmost cleanliness and adherence to routine as physically possible. I am also very communicative and honest, building trust with my clients.
“Yvette spent a couple of days with Oliver and was great within. She provided timely updates and pictures, asked questions when needed and Oliver was great with her. Would definitely book her again.”

“Victoria took wonderful care of our puppy for several hours and did an amazing job! She made sure our pup was well fed, played with her, and kept her happy the entire time. She was very organized, attentive, and followed all our instructions perfectly. It’s clear she genuinely cares about animals. We felt completely at ease knowing our puppy was in such good hands. Highly recommend Victoria to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter!”

“Tatiana was wonderful with our puppy! She was caring, playful, and very knowledgeable. She not only followed all of our requests but also went above and beyond with her own thoughtful touches. We felt completely at ease knowing our pup was in her hands”

“She was so good with our dog and cat. Our dog is very anxious and nervous with new people and by the end of day 1 she had her comfortable. So thankful she took such good care of the pets and house. She sent me a bunch of updates so I knew they were taken care of. Highly recommend for anyone to book with her.”

About: I've had my own dog for the past 10 years, so I'm very comfortable with the daily responsibilities of caring for pets. I take care of everything from walking and feeding to bathing and basic training. Over the past few years, I've also looked after my neighbors' and family members' pets while they were away, making sure they stayed on their normal routines and got plenty of attention. I understand that every pet is different, and I always make an effort to provide the same level of care that I'd want for my own dog. I work part-time remotely, so I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time during the day to walk, play with, and care for your pet. I'll make sure they get the attention and care they need while you're away. When I care for pets in a client’s home, I follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, and any specific instructions. I make sure the pet is always safe, supervised, and comfortable in their familiar environment. I’m careful to respect the home, keep everything clean, and communicate if anything comes up while I’m there.
“Oh my goodness! I cannot say anything better about Marco! He not only took amazing care our 3 dogs. He sent pictures, videos and kept us updated. Not only that, he respected our home, and went above and beyond with taking care of linens and laundry. He is amazing!”

“Alexandra was just wonderful. She understood my cats and gave the best of care. She sent me pictures daily accompanied by funny tidbits about them. She stayed in my home for two weeks and when she left it looked exactly as it was when she arrived. I was so grateful for her superb care and kindness. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”

“Nheli was absolutely wonderful! She came a day before our booking to meet Shayna and get acclimated with her, and on babysitting day, Shayna couldn't have been happier! She was super comfortable with Nheli (even during a rainstorm, which says something!) Nheli was responsive, and sent a bunch of adorable photos. Would love to work with her again!”

About: Hi! I’m Lindsay, a 19-year-old college student originally from New Jersey. Some things about me that I do on my free time is going on runs, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. I’ve been around animals my entire life and have years of hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats. Growing up, my family always had dogs, and now currently have a tabby cat. I’ve frequently helped care for pets belonging to friends and relatives as well. I will always enjoy spending time with pets whether it be on a walk or just hanging out with them to keep company! I also have been caring for pets through a different app as well providing walks, sittings, drop ins, etc with a 5 star rating! The same love and attention I give to my pet will be the same for yours! I’m currently working part-time at Ben And Jerry’s. Usually Mondays, Thursdays, Friday, Saturdays. However, I work around my schedule as a pet-caregiver. I understand how important it is to feel safe and comfortable when leaving your pet in someone’s care. I promise to treat your pet with the same love, respect, and attention that I give to my own. Your pet’s well-being and happiness will always be my top priority, and I will make sure they feel secure and cared for every step of the way!
About: Hello! My name is Tatiana, and I'm passionate about caring for pets. My journey as a pet caregiver began with Lucas, my beloved mini toy poodle who was a cherished member of our family for 16 wonderful years. His passing a couple years ago was incredibly difficult, and while nothing can ever replace him, the love and joy he brought into our lives have inspired me to care for other pets. Since Lucas crossed the rainbow bridge, I've become the go-to pet caretaker for family and friends. Even with a full-time job from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, I dedicate my spare time to looking after their furry companions. Whether it’s Joker, my brother's French Bulldog, Layla, a friend's Golden Doodle, or Chewie and Molly, two Maltese from a co-worker, I provide them with the love, attention, and care they deserve. I enjoy taking them for walks, playing with them, and ensuring they feel loved and safe. Over the past two years working with Rover, I've had the pleasure of meeting many pets and their families, building lasting relationships with them. I continue to support them whenever they need me. At home, I'm also a proud cat mom to Moana, a beautiful Himalayan cat I adopted last year. Moana was initially shy and scared, but with patience, love, and care, she has found her forever home with me. Additionally, I care for Coco, my sister's playful and active Persian cat, who always keeps us entertained. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and care for your pets, providing them with a safe and loving environment in your absence. I work full time in an office from Monday to Friday, with hours from 9 am to 6 pm. Outside of these hours, I'm free and available to care for your pets. Whether it's early mornings, evenings, or weekends, I'm here to ensure your furry friends are well taken care of when you need a helping hand. My experience in pet care is rooted in the years I've spent caring for my own pets, as well as the pets I've looked after in the past two years. I've had the pleasure of caring for both puppies and senior dogs, including those requiring special care and medication. My experience spans small, medium, and large pets, and I know how to handle them safely and comfortably during walks. I always adapt to the specific instructions provided by pet owners, ensuring that your furry friends are kept safe and well-cared for according to your preferences. Additionally, I’m experienced in caring for cats, from feeding and changing litter boxes to providing companionship and comfort.

I care for every dog as if they're my own! I just got home from college and am looking to make some money as I take a remote class this summer. That being said, my schedule is pretty open and flexible! I am very respectful of other's spaces and make sure to follow instructions carefully. I pay attention to detail and am a high energy individual. I truly love dogs so much and am happy to help take care of them when owners' lives get busy.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New Milford
We couldn't have asked for a better experience, Peter took awesome care of our shorthaired pointer Jeri while we were away for the day. She was recovering from an injury and he was incredibly attentive and thoughtful about her care, which we appreciated so much. He kept us updated throughout the day with messages and photos, communicated really well, and was genuinely kind and easy to work with. It was obvious he really cared about Jeri and enjoyed spending time with her too. We'd recommend Peter 100% to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to watch their pet and we'll definitely be reaching out again in the future- hopefully he'll be available!! Thanks again for taking such great care of Jeri!

Lolla was amazing and took great care of Benson. He needs meds and has high anxiety and she did a wonderful job of making sure he was comfortable and looked after. She also handled my pet parent panic and anxiety incredibly! Would strongly recommend her to take great care of your pup!!

Amanda took exceptional care of our 17½-year-old dog, who requires very specialized care and definitely isn’t easy. From the moment we left, she provided compassionate, attentive care and kept us updated with thoughtful texts and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. When we returned home, our dog was happy, comfortable, and clearly very well cared for. On top of that, our house was immaculate. We are beyond appreciative of Amanda’s kindness, professionalism, and dedication. It’s not easy to find someone you can fully trust with an elderly pet, and we are so grateful to have found her. Highly recommend!

Jill was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for someone better to watch Teddy and Frankie. Teddy had plenty of walks and play time and Frankie even came out to spend time with Jill (and she’s not normally friendly). She made us feel less stressed on our trip because our pets were being well taken care of.

Great experience! Communication was easy and consistent, and I felt very comfortable leaving my pets in her care. She went above and beyond — Rocket is currently going through a hard time and she cooked fresh meals for Rocket every day and was able to get him to eat without vomiting, which has been a big challenge for him. She was also wonderful with Luna and made sure both of them were well cared for. I really appreciated the updates and photos while I was away. They were clearly happy and comfortable. I would definitely book again and highly recommend her! 🐾

We are so grateful for the amazing care Alexandra gave our pets over Thanksgiving! She stayed in our home for a full week to look after our Rottie, Mini Schnauzer, and kitty, and she truly went above and beyond. She even checked in to ask if she could give them a little turkey on the holiday ~ which they were very excited about! Alexandra sent us pictures throughout our trip, giving us so much peace of mind, and we returned to three happy, relaxed animals. She also left our home clean and well cared for, which we deeply appreciated after traveling. We were extremely pleased with her service and will definitely be using her again in the future. Highly recommend! She also left our home clean and well cared for, which we deeply appreciated after a long trip. We can’t say enough wonderful things about David! Our senior girl is very challenging, with many special needs. David set our minds at ease knowing she was in good hands. Wonderful with communication as well! Would highly recommend! Thank you again David for your compassionate care ❤️🐾

FAQs for House Sitting - New Milford
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in New Milford on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 18,813 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Milford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Milford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Milford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Milford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Milford. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
