“This was our first time EVER having someone else watch our pets and Brittney seriously made it so easy and stress free for us. I’ve always been hesitant to try something like this but I am so glad we did. Britney fed, played, soaked up some sun, and even cleaned up some messes 🙏🏻 looking forward to being able to book more trips again knowing I found someone I can trust with my babies”

“Absolutely fantastic Sitter (what every one of his 50+ reviews says & more. Actually deserves a 6th or 7th Star!). Jade is extremely communicative. Even did research on my pet prior to showing up for the walk-thru). - Recognized the cat was 12 years old & asked if he needed any medication or dietary needs (very impressive)! Jade has a way with animals - my cat (normally a little skittish of people he isn’t familiar with) warmed right up to him. Even checked the mail for me (without being asked). Can’t recommend high enough & I will definitely call upon his services again!”

“Brooke has taken care of our pets multiple times and she is always kind, consistent, and caring as well as a clear communicator. We are grateful we can trust someone with our pets. Thank you!”

“Kelly is an absolutely phenomenal sitter! I’m always afraid of leaving my babies alone with someone, but Kelly kept me up to date and I never once worried. My two cats are special needs and require some extra care and Kelly went above and beyond. I am so thankful and highly recommend her :)”
“Karlena has been amazing with our puppy Billie! She is always on time and keeps us updated. She works on training her while she’s here and puts up with the puppy biting. She is our saving grace on days where we aren’t home for extended periods of time.”

“I would definitely recommend Josh. He was great with my pup. Always on time and extremely communicative about the visits and how my dog was doing. Always sending lots of photos. 10/10”

About: I’ve owned dogs and cats my whole life, and I am very comfortable taking care of animals in a variety of sizes and personalities. I have a degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University, and I spent 8 years working with Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I currently work as a Registered Nurse. I would be honored to be your trusted dog sitter. My schedule is very flexible right now, so I am able to cater to your individual needs. I can provide meals, walks, and playtime throughout the day. I have a fenced yard with ample space to run. I also enjoy leashed walks to burn energy and build strong connections with your pup.
About: Hi! My name is Douglas, Doug for short. Currently a proud papa to a golden lab named Sunny, and a grey longhair cat named Remy. My best friend is a pug/chihuahua mix named Taz. I also had an old man chihuahua named Finn, and I’ll forever miss him. I feel like I speak dog, I know how to tailor my personality to meet the needs of any dog. Cliche to say but I am better with animals than with people. I am responsible, gentle, caring, and a big rule follower. I have pretty open availability throughout the week so I have lots of time to hang out with your dogs! Let me know what you need and I should be able to make it work! I have experience with crate training my dog so I am comfortable playing with your dog in the house or yard, and switching them to their crate if needed.
“Giselle was great with our two dogs. Very patient with our less social one and played fetch with our more active one. She communicated very well with us and followed all the instructions we left. Would recommend for sure.”

“Laura was awesome as usual. We had a medical emergency at home and Laura took care of our Chester and our home. Laura was super flexible and offered things I didn’t know I needed. Can’t wait until our next booking.”

“Michelle was very professional and great with communication. She made me feel extremely comfortable and at ease knowing she was there to take care of my cat. I would definitely recommend and use her again.”

About: Hello, my name is Mahalah and I have owned a lot of pets through my life and they have always been apart of my family. I currently have a sweet senior American pit bul and one energetic mini pincher so I have a lot of experience training and caring for both cats and dogs. My schedule is flexible as I am working on Rover part time. I used to work at a doggy daycare and have plenty of experience with large and small dogs. (I also have experience with cats) I typically like to take long walks with my younger dog to make sure he gets the exercise he needs as I will do with your pups.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kaitlin! My family will be moving out of state soon and we're so sad because we've never had a better pet sitter. The peace of mind we have when we leave our cats in her care is priceless. Can't recommend strongly enough!

Brittney was great! This was our first time leaving her with a sitter we didn’t know, snd she put our minds at ease. She was great with the two check-ins we requested — was patient with our baby who can be a bit stubborn. She gave plenty of details about how the drop-in went, sent pics, etc. and our dog seemed to love her and really appreciate the love and care that Brittney provided. Thank you again!

Dana is a godsend. Perfect pet sitter for my cat Lulu. Utterly reliable, meticulous, kind and thoughtful. She takes care of my cat's needs and then takes time to play with Lulu. She sends lots of photos at each visit and thoughtful updates. I'm so happy I found Dana on Rover.com.

Josh has watched my large crew of a dog, cats and chickens multiple times now and I always feel confident that they are in good hands. My dog loves him, he’s prompt at responding to messages, and is also open to last minute bookings. I’ll definitely continue using Josh in the future and would recommend him to other pet parents.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Portland. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
