About: Hi! My name is Douglas, Doug for short. Currently a proud papa to a golden lab named Sunny, and a grey longhair cat named Remy. My best friend is a pug/chihuahua mix named Taz. I also had an old man chihuahua named Finn, and I’ll forever miss him. I feel like I speak dog, I know how to tailor my personality to meet the needs of any dog. Cliche to say but I am better with animals than with people. I am responsible, gentle, caring, and a big rule follower. I have pretty open availability throughout the week so I have lots of time to hang out with your dogs! Let me know what you need and I should be able to make it work! I have experience with crate training my dog so I am comfortable playing with your dog in the house or yard, and switching them to their crate if needed.
“Brittney looked after my cat while I was on vacation. My cat seemed to like her a lot and was in good health and spirits when I returned. Brittney sent me an update and photo of my cat every day while I was away, which I very much appreciated. Recommend.”

“Nikki was absolutely amazing. This was our first time working with her and we will definitely use her in the future. I love that she sent me lots of pictures and updates and her notes were very detailed.”
“Jade was awesome! They came to meet the pups the day before to get acquainted, and it went well. I had to go out of state last minute, and Jade was able to take care of the pups for a visit so they could play, have some snacks and go outside! They loved it! Thank you so much!!”

“Aly watched my cat for a week and everything seemed to go great! My cat was happy when I was home but he acted like he was taken care of well in the time I was gone.”

About: I’ve owned dogs and cats my whole life, and I am very comfortable taking care of animals in a variety of sizes and personalities. I have a degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University, and I spent 8 years working with Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I currently work as a Registered Nurse. I would be honored to be your trusted dog sitter. My schedule is very flexible right now, so I am able to cater to your individual needs. I can provide meals, walks, and playtime throughout the day. I have a fenced yard with ample space to run. I also enjoy leashed walks to burn energy and build strong connections with your pup.
“Karlena took wonderful care of my older cat while I was away! I would get notes and pics everyday as well as a list of things she took care of daily for her. I felt she was reliable and trustworthy while she took great care of my baby!”

“We love Brooke! Brooke is attentive, kind, and communicative when watching our three cats. We can always depend on her to give them top notch care and our cats love her.”

“Josh has been amazing with our pups! We had an emergency and needed someone asap. Josh responded and accepted our request within minutes, for a next morning request. He took the time to learn each dog’s needs and is always very communicative during the visits. Our dogs are HUGEEEE, so it’s not easy to just trust anyone with them. I’d definitely recommend Josh to anyone and everyone. He’s our go to sitter!”

“Michelle did a great job taking care of Scout! I was very happy to get updates and pictures of him while we were away. I will definitely request to have her take care of him next time we go on vacation.”

“It is commendable that Michelle was able to get my “feral” cat Madelyn out to sniff her hand!! And she relieved me from worry by caring for all my fur babies while I was gone over the holiday weekend including giving one of my cats his inhaler If anyone is looking for a pet sitter around East Hampton to drop in Michelle gets the job done. It was a perk to come home to a clean area as well.”

“Christine responded quickly to a last minute request, communicated well, and took great care of our cats. She also took photos of both cats on every visit. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

About: Hi! My name is Mahalah, and I’ve cared for all kinds of pets—big and small—for most of my life. I genuinely love getting to know each animal’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I currently have a Miniature Pinscher who is quite the ball of energy! He also struggles with reactivity, so I have firsthand experience understanding a reactive dog’s needs, recognizing their triggers, respecting their boundaries, and helping them feel comfortable in new situations. If your dog is reactive, nervous, or takes a little time to warm up, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to take things at their pace and work toward building trust. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, including dogs who needed help getting up and down stairs and those who required daily medication. I understand that older pets may need a little extra patience, gentleness, and attention, and I’m happy to provide that care. Since I’m currently working on Rover full-time, my schedule is flexible, and I’m able to give your pets plenty of attention and treats throughout the day. I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. I want them to feel safe, comfortable, loved, and genuinely happy while they’re with me. I take the time to get to know each dog’s personality, routine, likes, dislikes, and individual needs so I can give them the best care possible. Whether they’re playful and full of energy, shy and nervous, reactive, elderly, or just looking for someone to cuddle with, I’m patient and always willing to meet them where they’re most comfortable. Caring for my own dog has taught me how important patience, understanding, and building trust can be, and I bring that same care and compassion to every pet I look after. I want you and your dog to feel completely comfortable knowing they’re in good hands.

Brittney always does such a lovely job caring for my kitty! She clearly loves her, and the feeling is definitely mutual. I always feel completely comforted knowing Brittany is watching her. She’s professional, caring, responsible, and just an all-around wonderful person. I’m so grateful to have someone I trust so much with my kitty! ❤️

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kaitlin! My family will be moving out of state soon and we're so sad because we've never had a better pet sitter. The peace of mind we have when we leave our cats in her care is priceless. Can't recommend strongly enough!

Dana is a godsend. Perfect pet sitter for my cat Lulu. Utterly reliable, meticulous, kind and thoughtful. She takes care of my cat's needs and then takes time to play with Lulu. She sends lots of photos at each visit and thoughtful updates. I'm so happy I found Dana on Rover.com.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Portland. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
