“Samantha is awesome! You can tell how passionate she is about dogs and how interested she is in making sure Archie’s stay was great. He loves being there and learning how to be a good dog from Samantha and the rest of her pack. Samantha makes sure to work on socialization, commands and gives the pups great treats too. I especially appreciate all the pictures!”

“Tia was my first dog sitter on Rover and I couldn't have asked for a better person to watch over my dog! She took great care of my baby. She was so kind and welcoming towards Olive, even at times when she can be a bit hyper. She sent me updates during the day as well as pictures. I would highly recommend her!”

“After our great experience, I brought Millie back again to see Rachel and all her friends. Millie was so excited, she ran straight up to Rachel and the front door to go inside. I got great updates throughout the day and I can tell my girl is tired and ready for a nap. I appreciate Rachel’s care and attention so much. We will be back!”

“Vicki and William were so kind to my dog. She had a great time with their Lab Bentley. They updated frequently. Just from the pics I could tell Blossom was very relaxed and comfortable in their home”

“We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Even though we were her very first client, she treated our pup like absolute family from the second we walked in. She was warm, professional, and kept us updated throughout the day, which gave us complete peace of mind. Our dog came home happy, relaxed, and well-cared for. Don't let her lack of reviews fool you, she is a natural at this and truly wonderful with pets. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Mariana and her husband have hosted our dog Shama multiple times now and they are always our first choice because we know Shama is always happy to see them and stay with them. Very flexible and communicate very nicely with us. We highly recommend them.”

About: I grew up with many different animals at home and I loved to take care of them and play with them. I also had dogs and was able to breed and enjoy 12 puppies. I also take care of my neighbors two dogs when they go on vacation or extended weekends. Now I have a Doberman for the last 6 years and she is a smart and loving companion and I trained her to be a service dog. I know how to respond if your furry friend should get sick and have great contacts to a veterinarian hospital. I left corporate world in December last year and are now enjoying retirement. I will have plenty of time to accommodate and play with your furry friend. I have a single family home with fenced in yard to accommodate your dog and to play with Piper, my 6 year old Doberman girl.

About: I’ve been taking care of family, friends and foster pets since i was in my freshman year of University, I’m a very reliable person ! I’m working freelance ! My hours are very flexible so i have a bunch of free time to take care and train your lovely pets ! I live in an apartment but with all of the free time i have, going to the park or spending time indoors is no problem !
“Bentley had a great time hanging out with Murphy and Meredith. We've just moved to the Ferndale area, and he misses his old neighbor friends. Happy he's made a friend with Murphy:)”

“First day care day with Jess was a success! Jess was super communicative and flexible providing me with feedback and updates throughout the day. Huxley was able to play with a great group of pups and he came home with a great attitude and passed out. Hux will be looking forward to his longer stay over the holidays :)”

About: Hello! My pet experience consists of having my own doggy for the past 20 years. I rescued my older dog and then got a new puppy. My old Rose passed away but I had to give her eye medication and oral medication everyday so I am comfortable with that. I also grew up with family dogs and cared for those dogs. My availability to watch your dog is very flexible. I work from home a most days a week so it is a high chance that I could work from home while caring for your pup. I am a very caring person. I have a PhD in human development and family science and work in the social work field. I have a giant heart and would love to care for your doggie! As a stay-at-home worker, pet care naturally fits into my daily routine. I’m home throughout the day, which allows me to provide consistent attention, timely feedings, regular potty breaks, and plenty of play and cuddle time. My flexible schedule means I can easily accommodate pets’ needs, whether that’s sticking to a specific routine or being available for spontaneous walks and care. Being home also helps me monitor behavior closely and respond quickly to any changes, making pets feel secure, loved, and well looked after. Whether caring for pets in my home or a client’s, I prioritize creating a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment tailored to each animal’s needs. In my home, pets have access to cozy rest areas, regular outdoor time, and plenty of affection and play throughout the day. I maintain a calm, clean space and follow any routines or special instructions provided. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and stick closely to the pet’s established schedule to minimize stress. I provide regular updates, ensure fresh food and water, maintain cleanliness, and give each pet the love and attention they’re used to.
“Maritza did a great job communicating with me for Marlon’s first visit. I am super grateful and glad to know he’s being watched by a thoughtful and caring family.”

“Angela and her rescue pack are great! She’s so kind, comforting, and understanding with our shy anxious rescue girl. Her boys Ernie and Jerry are a nice bonus to help socialize Gretchen with other dogs. I also appreciate Angela’s open honest and frequent communication.”

“Kadi was fantastic! So warm and reassuring to talk with, as well as super sweet and patient with our pup. He is a bit weary of men, and unfortunately wasn’t able to relax around Kadi’s husband. She let me know that she wanted to make sure Tito was as comfortable as possible. Kadi went of her way to reach out to her pet sitter, a fellow rover member (without a male in the house ☺️), to see if she would be available and open to taking Tito on for a weekend. She even made sure there was availability for a meet and greet before hand. Kadi went above and beyond and showed us she really cares about the well being of the pets in her care. Thanks a million Kadi!”

About: Whether your pet stays with me or I care for them in your home, your dog (s) will receive the same level of care I give my own pets—fresh food and water, regular meals, exercise, playtime, affection, and close attention to their individual needs. Further, I have experience with administering medicine such as eye drops, ingestible liquids/pills, and shots. My goal is to make every pet feel comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you're away, giving you peace of mind that they're in capable hands. I’ve been surrounded by furry friends my entire life! When I was a kid, my family had two dogs along with other animals, providing me with a foundation for loving and caring for pets. Since then, family and friends have trusted me to provide pet care services including pet sitting- feeding, play, and providing overnight company. I have 24 years of experience with small and medium sized dogs. Care for dogs is my only profession, allowing me to give your dog my full attention. My home is safe, welcoming, and open, and my friendly dog loves having dog visitors to play with. Your dog will be free to roam my home- welcome on the furniture- and have plenty of space to run in my large fenced in yard. Additionally, I am located near the heart of Dowtown Royal Oak for dogs who are excited by people and other dogs, as well as several parks with open spaces within walking distance. I currently have a four dog limit for boarding and pet sitting. I’m home full time, so I’m able to provide pets care with my full attention. Whether morning, afternoon, or night I’m available round the clock to fit you and your pets schedule and needs. I’m happy to provide care in your home or mine! My home is safe, welcoming, and cat-friendly, and my friendly dog loves having canine visitors to play with. I have a large fenced in yard dogs both small and big can enjoy and many local parks within walking distance!
About: Hello, Im Laur and my pronouns are they/them/theirs. Ive been caring for dogs since I was a young child and as an adult I have boarded, walked, played, bathed and helped train dogs of all sizes and ages. I also have experience pet sitting for cats and small animals like hamsters, guinea pigs, bunnies, fish. I actually have two very happy guinea pigs at home too. I'm a researcher with a very flexible schedule so I have time to play and give pets the attention they deserve. I enjoy being around dogs and cats and other animals, it's part of my self care routine too. :) I can care for your pet in your home, I find that most animals feel most comfortable in their own home where they are most familiar. I can be sure to continue training your puppy, dog, cat, or other pet when in my care as well. I find that it's important that familiar language and actions and schedules are used to improve training and learning.

“Lily had a wonderful time with Gary! He was very quick to respond to messages and flexible with our schedule. He was even kind enough to drop her off at home! We will definitely be using Gary's services again. Thanks so much!”

“Stanley had an excellent adventure playing with Teddy and Violet at Laura’s house on Saturday. She was able to accommodate us with very short notice, and kept us updated on his fun day. Did you know that even cousin doodled poodles “recognize” each other? I’m sure they will all meet again.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Oak Park
It has been such a blessing to find Rachel. I am in Detroit for extended visits with family, and one of the things that makes that possible is having a 'home away from home' for my Cavapoo, Mica. Rachel is always walking the dogs or playing with them, or coming up with enrichment activities - so my dog isn't just sitting around all day - but it's also clear that Rachel absolutely loves each dog in her care like family, and she is the sweetest human besides. Mica has separation anxiety, and I don't worry for a minute about her with Rachel. We are so grateful for you, Rachel!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience! We will definitely be booking with her again!

Simply the best! Vicki and William love the pups in their care and go the extra mile. They have been so good helping our puppy Hazel socialize, play, and grow into a happy teenage dog for the past year. She is always so excited to go to daycare and is a very happy, tired dog after.

We are so excited we have found such a wonderful caregiver for our two dogs, One is an energetic mini Aussie and I have never seen her respond so well to anyone. She was cuddling with Whitney within a couple of hours and we got lots of photos of the pups playing and snuggling throughout the day. Whitney is a bona fide dog person whose house is not only gorgeous, but was designed with dogs in mind. The fenced in yard and dog park were amazing and our dogs got to play outside in a safe, clean environment. We have already booked her again for a longer visit in December and we are so happy to know our pups will be in the care of someone who not only knows dogs but genuinely cares for them and goes out of her way to make them at home and loved. A++++

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Oak Park commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
