Gracie was absolutely amazing with our two pups! We were given updates and pictures all throughout the day and never had to worry about a thing when we were out of town. We have used this service a lot and haven’t had anyone that can hold a candle to how great Gracie was! Will definitely be calling her again in the future!

Rachael was so good with Juno! We were so happy to have someone stay with her and give her some normalcy while we were away. Rachael sent us updates, adorable photos, and Juno looked comfy and content in each one. We’re so happy to have found Rachael and we know Juno is too! We will book with her anytime we have to go on a trip!

We couldn’t be happier with the care our three boxers received! It was clear Hannah had a genuine love for dogs and plenty of experience handling larger breeds. Our pups can be a handful, but she managed them with patience, confidence, and lots of affection. We received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave us peace of mind and let us see how much fun they were having. It was obvious our dogs felt safe, happy, and loved the entire time we were away. Coming home to three relaxed and well-cared-for dogs was the best feeling. We highly recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and caring sitter. We’ll definitely be booking again!

Amy stayed with our two golden retrievers that we rescued about 9 months ago. We try to be very careful with who we leave them with as they are still adjusting to life with us. Amy did a wonderful job with them, sent me pictures and updates and kept them on their normal routine with walks and feeding. She's very conscientious and wants to follow all instructions. We will definitely use her again!

About: I grew up with two cats, fish, a guinea pig and a dog! I started taking care of animals officially when I was 14. My neighbors hired me to either walk their dogs, pet sit during trips, or just check in on them during the day. I’ve taken care of dogs and cats. Some of the neighbors that hired me had me coming back for years every day to either walk there dog, let there dogs out or feed their cat. I also have experience with overnight pet care. Currently looking for a part-time job in Burlington, so my hours are very flexible and I have open availability for all your pet care needs! I always make sure that I understand very clearly all the details for caring for someone’s pet. Every pet is unique and requires different things. I am 100% transparent and appreciate communication. I always make sure to double check everything and I value your pets safety and well being just as much as my own.

As a devoted dog dad myself, I understand just how much your pets mean to you. I treat every animal in my care like family. Whether it’s a high energy pup who needs a long walk or a senior dog who just wants some gentle company, I tailor each visit to your pet’s specific needs. I’m dependable, calm under pressure, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, medications, and special care instructions, and I’m always happy to send updates and photos while you’re away. I’ve got plenty of time in my daily routine, so your dog gets more than just a quick walk. I offer unhurried, personalized care tailored to your pup’s energy level, mood, and personality. Your Dog’s Safety and Your Home Are My Top Priorities. When I care for your dog in your home, I treat both your pet and your space with the same respect and attentiveness I give my own. With 16 years of hands on experience as a dog dad and caretaker, I understand how important it is to feel safe leaving your dog and your house in someone else’s hands. I go above and beyond to create a secure, calm, and clean environment while you’re away. Here’s how I keep things safe and stress free: • Constant awareness: Doors stay locked, gates stay closed, and no risky situations (like off-leash time) ever happen without your permission. • Routine focused care: I stick to your pet’s regular schedule to keep them comfortable and prevent stress or behavioral issues. • Clean & respectful: I leave your home just as I found it—clean, organized, and secure. • Emergency readiness: I’m familiar with local vets and always have a plan in case of emergencies. • Regular updates: You’ll get photos, messages, and updates so you never feel out of the loop. Whether it’s for a weekend getaway or a longer trip, I’ll make sure your dog is happy, your home is respected, and your peace of mind is intact.

About: When I take care of pets, I treat your home as my own and go above and behind to treat your fur babies as I would my own. My compassion and work ethic make me a perfect candidate for any pet sitting job. I work full time in an office but am very used to taking care of pets in other people’s homes. Due to my work schedule, weekends are best since I am able to spend more time with the pets. However I am totally fine with commuting from other homes to my office if that works for my clients. I figure out what each pet needs and I act accordingly. I treat clients’ home (and their pets) as I would my own: respectfully and with great attention and care. I believe it’s important to be open and communicative with my clients to establish expectations with both the home and the pets.

I was very anxious to leave her but found the most amazing person ever and it made the trip so much easier for us !! Meredith is sooo loving and kind and cared for my baby like I would have ! Playing with her giving her medicine and dealing with all her little weird quirks 😊 she updated me every day and I never saw my dog so happy with anyone !! She is just a wonderful human being who truly loves her job and animals and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!!!! Gary has watched my dog Koda a few times now. He always does a great job- keeping me informed of what is happening and even adjusting his schedule to align with my mine. On one of my trips I was forced stay an extra day outside the US due to airline issues. Gary accommodated this unplanned emergency and made everything go smoothly. Personally, I think Koda believes he is the one on vacation when Gary watches him.

FAQs for House Sitting - Oak Park

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Oak Park on Rover is $39.96 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,400 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oak Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oak Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oak Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oak Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oak Park. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
