“Nicole is the absolute best! She has been so patient with my anxious dog Louis, and he has so much fun hanging out with her. She happily agreed to stay longer than planned when my flight home got delayed. You won’t regret booking with her!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs all my life. I’ve been a dog/cat/house sitter before on and off especially during covid. I love long walks, play time and cuddles. Making your pet happy would make me happy too. I miss living at home with family pet. Currently I work part time as hairstylist working on building there clientele. I would be availbe for morning and late walks during my working days . On my days off I will have way more availability even mid day availablity for walks. House sitting nights can vary a little depending on my schedule but am pretty flexible. My house is not available for sitting. When staying at your place I will let dog/cat out into back yard leashed if no fence. Even if there is a fence I will be there watching the dog/cat. When comming in and leaving the house I will lock all doors for mine and pets safety. I will follow any other instructions of home owner .

“Taylor was a wonderful pet sitter. Took great care of my anxious dog and cat, staying overnight at our house for most of a week. Followed instructions to a T with my dog’s medication and needs for going outside. Left the house clean and in great shape. Would have her back anytime we need pet sitting.”

About: I have a strong love for animals and real experience caring for a variety of pets. In elementary school, I often took care of our class pets; a goldfish, and a hamster even when it wasn’t my turn, simply because I enjoyed it. Since then, I’ve raised two dogs, including one who passed away from old age, and I’ve learned a lot about both everyday and senior pet care. I also house-sit for my sister’s two cats. I’m patient, responsible, and treat every pet with the same love and attention I give my own. At the moment I am a high school graduate transitioning into college and I do work part time so I am mostly free on weekends and other times of the day week during the week. Depending on the pet, I like to wait for the dog to come to me and trust me. I’ll have a treat in my hand and I’ll let it sniff it and eat it
“Jillian was an amazing dog and house sitter! She watched our three dogs for over a week and we had nothing to worry about. One of our dogs is reactive and Jillian was beyond patient with her. We will rebooking her services for sure!”

“Will did an amazing job with our puppy Reesey and kitty Lindy! He was great about keeping us updated on how they were doing and sent tons of pics! We left for the weekend and trusted him to stay at our house, would do it again if needed!”

“Tess is great! My two dogs clearly were loved by the look from all the pictures she sent me. The house is as clean as I left it and she communicated the whole time I was gone. I will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Rachael was so good with Juno! We were so happy to have someone stay with her and give her some normalcy while we were away. Rachael sent us updates, adorable photos, and Juno looked comfy and content in each one. We’re so happy to have found Rachael and we know Juno is too! We will book with her anytime we have to go on a trip!”

“Sally was great, she came and stayed the night at my place while I was out of town. She was very sweet and seemed to get along well with my dog. She updated me with texts throughout the stay to keep me informed. I would love to use her again in the future for my dog sitting needs.”

“Emily has dog sat/house sat on two different occasions for us now. We have two Pomeranians (10 and 9 years old). She is very respectful, kind and provides us updates often with photos. I would highly recommend Emily. She is very responsive and asked all the right questions during our interview process.”

Gracie did an excellent job caring for my two rowdy pups while we were away for our wedding! She was very attentive to our instructions and treated the pups with affection and care. She asked all the right questions to make sure they had what they needed, and sent lots of photos and updates. Would absolutely hire Gracie again!

Annamaria was great! My Dog was happy as can be and I know he received a lot of attention as she provided photos of him walking, eating, playing, etc., etc. I would absolutely book Annamaria again and I am sure we will in the future! Thank you for making my dog’s experience better than expected! We were happy to know he was in good hands.

We couldn’t have asked for a better house and dog sitter! Mark stayed in our home while we were away, and he took incredible care of our dog, Willie Nelson. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Willie was comfortable in his own home with someone so kind, responsible, and attentive. Mark went above and beyond while we were gone. He kept us updated, treated our home with care and respect, and most importantly, gave Willie so much love and attention. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog, and our house was just as we left it. Mark is also an incredibly talented local artist, and he’s simply a wonderful human being. If you’re looking for someone you can completely trust with your pets and your home, I can’t recommend him enough. We’ll absolutely be booking him again!

Hannah was so wonderful with our dog, Ernie! She left our house exactly as she found it and was so communicative. We felt so much more relaxed knowing he was in good hands. She was so sweet and responsible with his needs and medications. She was responsive and flexible even when we had a power line fall while we were away. We will definitely rebook!

We went to asia for two weeks and Gary did an amazing job taking care of our home and dogs. We have a very active pup and he went out of his way to ensure he got his proper exercise. Gary also left our home in immaculate condition probably cleaner than we left it!! Thank you again so much and we would absolutely book you in the future!!

We were going to Scotland for 14 days and leaving my very babied English Bulldog for the first time . I was very anxious to leave her but found the most amazing person ever and it made the trip so much easier for us !! Meredith is sooo loving and kind and cared for my baby like I would have ! Playing with her giving her medicine and dealing with all her little weird quirks 😊 she updated me every day and I never saw my dog so happy with anyone !! She was loving ever minute with Meredith and it made my heart happy ❤️ She also took such great care of our house and pool ! Above and beyond what I could of asked for !! She is just a wonderful human being who truly loves her job and animals and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!!!! It made our trip so wonderful not having that worry and seeing our dog playing and happy and being loved just as we would have loved her 🥰 it was the best experience ever and she will be the first person I contact anytime we need a sitter from now on !!! ❤️

Diane was a fantastic sitter! She was amazing and easy to work with throughout the process. She stayed in my home while I traveled and my deeply anxious rescue dog and my cats never missed me. Diane kept me informed while I was away, followed all my instructions, and my pets were safe and happy in my absence. I look forward to hiring her again. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her or rebook her. She’s truly a thoughtful and special person who will care for your pets so you can relax while you’re away.

Lonie was amazing with our 2 elderly dogs! We haven’t left them overnight in almost 2 years due to their health issues, but I felt very comfortable with Lonie after our meet and greet. She definitely has a lot of experience with animals and is very loving with them! She also went above and beyond what I expected of her in terms of washing and changing the sheets on her bed and generally tidying up the house, even though it was just an overnight visit. I really cannot say enough good things about her! She was awesome!

We had a great experience with Amanda! She took wonderful care of our two Labs and made sure they were comfortable, and given lots of attention while we were away. We really appreciated the updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind. Our dogs were happy and relaxed when we got home, and it was clear they were well cared for. We would definitely trust her with them again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and reliable sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Oak Park on Rover is $39.96 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,400 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oak Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oak Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oak Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oak Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oak Park. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
