“I’ve booked cat sitting with Lukis so many times that I’ve lost count. From weekends to week-long trips, I can always count on them to take great care of my kitties and my house. Thanks Lukis (:”

“Amy was an amazing sitter! I felt completely at ease having her in my home with my dogs, who absolutely adored her. She kept me updated throughout their stay, sent lots of pictures, and even handled a tornado warning, making sure the dogs were safe and secure. I would highly recommend her and would happily have her sit again in the future!”

“Maciyah was super accommodating and helpful when I had to book her last minute. And Duke seemed to really enjoy his stay. She sent tons of pictures and got him lots of walks. I highly recommend boarding with Maciyah.”

“Sylvie made time to do a trial overnight with our nervous pup and she did great with him! Highly recommend her if you are searching for a reliable pet sitter you can trust.”
“Nicole did an amazing job with our puppy. She was super responsive and was totally comfortable with tons of instructions for a new pup. She was on time, and sent awesome picture updates. Looking forward to working with Nicole again.”

“Kayla was an outstanding house sitter while I was out of town. She took great care of my animals and sent regular pictures and updates to keep me informed. She left my space clean and organized and I couldn’t even tell anyone else was there when I got home! Book with Kayla with confidence she will take great care of your pets and is incredibly respectful of your space.”

“Rhiannon was terrific! She cared for our dogs and home with great care and wonderful communication. Meant the world to us to receive regular updates with happy dog photos. She was flexible and quick to respond. Great experience!”

“Theresa and Adrian did a great job watching Laika. They communicated expectations clearly ahead of time and sent updates throughout the stay. We were able to enjoy our trip knowing our dog was well taken care of.”

“Heather was so great with Sadie! She sent multiple pictures and was very communicative. She spent a lot of time with Sadie so she was not in her crate very long. Heather made sure to ask for any special instructions so she could make everything as normal for Sadie as she could. I definitely would recommend Heather and will love to have her watch Sadie again!”

“This week will be our dog's last-ever walk with Hanan, and we could not be more sad. Hanan was the one person who could take leadership with our dog via gentleness and respect for our dog's boundaries. She is very knowledgeable about pets, and not simply from a behavioral standpoint, but also their overall health. Our dog was not comfortable with new people, and she not only ended up trusting Hanan but also looked forward to seeing her. During her time with is, our dog started developing weakness in her hips, and Hanan was super patient and helpful with our dog. One thing of note: we live modestly, and dog sitting is a real expense for us. We have had other sitters literally turn up their noses at our humble home in a working class neighborhood, and we were glad to look elsewhere. Not Hanan. We have always felt respected, and she took great care of our home as if it was hers. Hanan is intensely reliable and just a joy to deal wirh on a person-to-person level. Great communication, regular updates and solid problem solving. I hope we can count on her to sit periodically, even if she can't do regular walks anymore. Thanks for everything, Hanan!”

“Zaria was such a gift! She went above and beyond caring for our three cats—two of whom are on medication—with so much love and attentiveness. The house was spotless when we got home, and the cats were relaxed, happy, and somehow getting along even better than before we left. She’s kind, reliable, and just a joy to work with. We honestly can’t recommend her enough!”

“We felt very comfortable leaving for our long weekend knowing Katie was with our senior pup. Katie communicated throughout her stay and kept us updated. Our dog, Sally, was happy upon our return and we plan on having Katie stay over again soon!”

“Lauren was great with our girl Burty! She stayed with her for a weekend while we were away and took such good care of her. Lauren sent us lots of updates with pictures and videos. We would definitely use her again!”

“This was our first time using Kylie to watch our 2 dogs overnight in our home. She followed directions to a tee and spent quality time with our babies. She came over for a meet and greet a couple of weeks prior and the dogs seemed to take to her well. We won't hesitate to have her petsit for us again! Highly Recommend!”

“Randi is very communicative and flexible throughout the entire stay. She is also very caring and loving with the pets. We felt totally comfortable the entire we were gone because we knew the pets were in good, capable hands.”

“Tess is great! My two dogs clearly were loved by the look from all the pictures she sent me. The house is as clean as I left it and she communicated the whole time I was gone. I will definitely be booking with her again.”

About: I've owned/fostered/rescued animals my whole life, and I'm an avid animal lover. I run a rescue program with my friend and community members, and am very skilled with medical monitoring and behavior reading. I have experience working with special needs and elderly animals. I've administered oral medication and eye drops, changed doggy diapers, and bottle fed babies. I also have experience working with aggressive and territorial animals, I maintain a gentle and patient energy and work hard to create a secure relationship with each pet. I don't mind cleaning, I love super active animals, and I'm confident and reliable in caretaking. I work independently as an artist and curator, so I make my own schedule, so I always have plenty of time for your fur baby. I am unable to watch pets at my own place, as I am constantly fostering and have my own cats. I've been a trusted house/pet/baby sitter for 10 years, and will take great care of your space.
“Kate was great! Our two pups loved her! She soft in our home for two nights and was wonderful making sure they each got the right amount of cuddles and play. She was super communicative and reliable. Would highly recommend.”

Allie was responsive and sent messages about Piper and Miffles every day of our trip. She accommodated my pup's temporary stomach issues and got her back on track with regular diet without additional guidance and sending plenty of updates. Our home was left just as clean as it was when we left. Would book again! Thanks, Allie!

Sarah did an amazing job with our kitties! She sent us thorough updates, was amazing at picking up on their little quirks and personalities, and gave them lots of play time which we know they love! We felt totally comfortable knowing they were in good care while we were gone ❤️

When I say Heather is phenomenal— I mean it. I can go anywhere in the world knowing my boy is cared for and that he gets to do all the things he loves. If you’re looking for someone to love your kiddo like he’s their own, Heather’s got you. Every time she’s watched my baby she has not missed a single beet. I also get the cutest photos ever from her 🫶 and she leaves my house better than she found it every single time. Beyond grateful for you, Heather!!
Jessica did a wonderful job taking care of our two cats. I was worried about my male cat taking his medication from someone else because he is so skittish of new people. Jessica got him comfortable right away so he did not miss a dose. She followed instructions for their care very well and was very communicative with us. She also sent lots of picture updates, which we appreciated so much! We would 100% hire her again.

Kate was THE BEST as a housesitter/animal caregiver. My job was complex: I have multiple inside cats and regularly feed feral cats on my front porch. In addition, I have a rescue dog who can have emotional issues as well as recovering from a recent injury. Kate handled everything as I would have. Her frequent updates and photos showed me my babies-relaxed, obviously content/loved. I came home to a spotless house and my animals happy to see me, but not frantic for attention. I’m so grateful to have found Kate & will use her services whenever I travel again.

Eric took excellent care of Koda while we were away on vacation for seven days. He was very communicative, respectful and followed Koda’s care instructions very carefully. He sent regular updates and confirmed time of arrival and departure which also made me feel at ease while we were in the midst of traveling. He also took good care of our house, leaving it super clean, if not cleaner than how we left it. When we arrived back home, Koda seemed very comfortable and content. I would absolutely book with him again and recommend him to anyone else looking for a trustworthy sitter. Plus Koda was happy to make a new friend :) thanks again, Eric!

FAQs for House Sitting - Highland Park
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Park on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,291 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Park. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
