“Maciyah was simply put, amazing! This was our first time leaving our dog alone with someone he didn’t know and Maciyah couldn’t have made the whole process any more perfect. From the meet and greet until the final day of her stay, she was unbelievably helpful and responsive. She sent pictures and videos daily and gave us updates throughout each day. We had so many nerves about the trip until she got there and all our worries were instantly gone thanks to her professional experience with dogs. She left our home in the exact same way she found it. Couldn’t have asked for a better first time using this service all thanks to Maciyah. Will absolutely be using her again in the future!”

“Theresa and Adrian did a great job watching Laika. They communicated expectations clearly ahead of time and sent updates throughout the stay. We were able to enjoy our trip knowing our dog was well taken care of.”

“Will did an amazing job with our puppy Reesey and kitty Lindy! He was great about keeping us updated on how they were doing and sent tons of pics! We left for the weekend and trusted him to stay at our house, would do it again if needed!”

“Zaria was such a gift! She went above and beyond caring for our three cats—two of whom are on medication—with so much love and attentiveness. The house was spotless when we got home, and the cats were relaxed, happy, and somehow getting along even better than before we left. She’s kind, reliable, and just a joy to work with. We honestly can’t recommend her enough!”

“Kristina was wonderful ! Very responsible and so loving towards My pooch Marley ! He loves her from day one ! I’d highly recommend her ! My dog is not an easy personality and he was happy as can be upon my return ! 5 stars”

“Katie is super reliable, honest and respectful of my home, plus she's great with my dogs. There's a reason we've booked her several times and will continue to moving forward. Thanks, Katie!”

“Genevieve was absolutely fantastic! I am always worried about leaving Pepper because she doesn’t like new people initially but she seemed to warm up to Genevieve very well. Genevieve was patient, friendly, and accommodating to any needs I had. She sent the cutest pictures and “pupdates” often to keep me in the loop. Since it was Christmas, she also opened gifts with Pepper on that day and sent fun videos. She took great care of our house as well. Cleaned up after herself and went over and beyond doing laundry as well. I would definitely recommend Genevieve to anyone who is looking for a reliable sitter for their fur babies. We will be using her again soon! Thanks for everything!”

“Rhiannon was terrific! She cared for our dogs and home with great care and wonderful communication. Meant the world to us to receive regular updates with happy dog photos. She was flexible and quick to respond. Great experience!”

“Randi took great care of Ruxin. She took the time to do a meet and greet before my trip. I love all the pictures she takes so I could rest easy knowing Ruxin was well taken care of.”

“Lauren took fantastic care of our young dog! She was gentle and patient with him, since he can be a little nervous with new people. She was attentive and communicative throughout the stay, and shared lots of pictures and videos.”

“Nicole is truly a master of her craft! Another smooth, fun, and safe trip for our 6 pets and we always come home to a clean and organized home. We are so grateful for Nicole!”

“We were so happy to have Erin watch our dogs again! She stayed at our house for a week and sent a lot of pics and updates. She even helped when our flight was delayed and went to check on the doggies later in the day. We will definitely be using her again! 💕”

“Kenna did a great job with our energetic puppy! She was communicative, kept the house super clean, and was overall a joy to work with. My dog loved playing with her pup! This was our first time leaving our puppy so it was such a relief not having to worry! I love that she stayed overnight- it made things much easier. She walked the dog everyday and I could tell my dog was so happy (and tired) when we got home!”

“Larry took great care of my dog while I was away. He was reliable, communicative, and made sure everything went smoothly. It was clear my dog was well cared for and comfortable. I really appreciated his help and would be happy to book with him again in the future.”

“Jean was very communicative and sent great videos and photos of Kono. She also asks great questions to really understand Kono’s temperament, needs, likes and dislikes. So happy I booked with Jean.”

About: I've been around dogs most of my life, while taking care of 3 of my own. I'm currently training my dog to build a stronger bond. I'm currently working full time and training my dog daily. I have availability on weekends and weekday evenings as needed. Let me know what you're looking for. I will work on building trust with your fur baby, allowing them time to adjust to a new person in their space. I need to know their likes, dislikes, and routine if they have one.

Nicole is the best! She stayed with Louis for a week while I was out of town. He found some chocolate on a walk outside and she handled the situation perfectly, taking him to the vet and reaching out to my emergency contact because I was unavailable. I always trust her to take great care of my pup!

Lauren was absolutely AMAZING...Mars loved her! Mars is recovering from surgery and i needed someone who would keep him calm and happy at the same time. She exceeded my expectations and i would highly recommend her. We were just in town for an event and only needed her one night but if she lived by us....she would be my go to sitter!

Allie was responsive and sent messages about Piper and Miffles every day of our trip. She accommodated my pup's temporary stomach issues and got her back on track with regular diet without additional guidance and sending plenty of updates. Our home was left just as clean as it was when we left. Would book again! Thanks, Allie!

Sarah did an amazing job with our kitties! She sent us thorough updates, was amazing at picking up on their little quirks and personalities, and gave them lots of play time which we know they love! We felt totally comfortable knowing they were in good care while we were gone ❤️

When I say Heather is phenomenal— I mean it. I can go anywhere in the world knowing my boy is cared for and that he gets to do all the things he loves. If you’re looking for someone to love your kiddo like he’s their own, Heather’s got you. Every time she’s watched my baby she has not missed a single beet. I also get the cutest photos ever from her 🫶 and she leaves my house better than she found it every single time. Beyond grateful for you, Heather!!
Jessica did a wonderful job taking care of our two cats. I was worried about my male cat taking his medication from someone else because he is so skittish of new people. Jessica got him comfortable right away so he did not miss a dose. She followed instructions for their care very well and was very communicative with us. She also sent lots of picture updates, which we appreciated so much! We would 100% hire her again.

Kate was THE BEST as a housesitter/animal caregiver. My job was complex: I have multiple inside cats and regularly feed feral cats on my front porch. In addition, I have a rescue dog who can have emotional issues as well as recovering from a recent injury. Kate handled everything as I would have. Her frequent updates and photos showed me my babies-relaxed, obviously content/loved. I came home to a spotless house and my animals happy to see me, but not frantic for attention. I’m so grateful to have found Kate & will use her services whenever I travel again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Park. On Rover:

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
