“Sarah is just the sweetest thing! So attentive our fur babies loved her! Very communicative and sent pictures often which we love. Can’t wait to have her dog/cat sit again.❤️ we would highly recommend her!”

“Hannah was absolutely wonderful! She sent great updates and the most adorable pictures throughout her stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear my pup was happy and well cared for. I would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!”

“Sylvie did a phenomenal job caring for our anxious, shy/fearful pup last minute! She was able to accommodate 2 meet and greets which made our pup comfortable ahead of her stay. Sylvie asked thoughtful questions about his behavior and care requirements and listened to all of our nervous parent requests. She has a calming demeanor which really helped with our nervous guy. Sylvie had no problems administering medication, was sure to send updates throughout the stay, and was very communicative about everything. We feel so lucky to have found her!”
“We are so grateful to have found Hanan to care for our fur baby, Wallace. From the very start she was responsive, kind, and completely on top of everything. She sent us plenty of pictures and videos so we always felt connected, and it was obvious Wallace was happy and well cared for. What really impressed us was the extra thoughtfulness she put in, like providing great training tips, tidying up, and making sure everything was just as we left it. She even held off on running appliances since Wallace would be home alone, which says so much about her attention to detail and care. It’s clear she truly enjoyed spending time with Wallace, and he adored her right back. We came home to a happy pup and a spotless home. We couldn’t have asked for better care and will absolutely be reaching out to her again in the future. Highly recommend!”

“Theresa and Adrian did a great job watching Laika. They communicated expectations clearly ahead of time and sent updates throughout the stay. We were able to enjoy our trip knowing our dog was well taken care of.”

“Mary was excellent! She was quick to respond and the meet and greet went well and she was very patient with our dog. She provided regular updates and we had no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended!”

“Maciyah was simply put, amazing! This was our first time leaving our dog alone with someone he didn’t know and Maciyah couldn’t have made the whole process any more perfect. From the meet and greet until the final day of her stay, she was unbelievably helpful and responsive. She sent pictures and videos daily and gave us updates throughout each day. We had so many nerves about the trip until she got there and all our worries were instantly gone thanks to her professional experience with dogs. She left our home in the exact same way she found it. Couldn’t have asked for a better first time using this service all thanks to Maciyah. Will absolutely be using her again in the future!”

“Ivy was our first sitter we have used and she was so great! She made me feel like the dogs received so much love and attention while we were away. She also lives super close and that made both of our lives so much easier! I would book her again in a heartbeat. 😊”

“Leslie was great. She sent me pictures of my dog and texted updates. I never worried once when I was gone and most of the time I was outside of cell range and had no anxiety about issues popping up and her not being able to handle it. I will definitely use her again in the future.”
“WOW! Lindsey was amazing. More than amazing. Everything I could hope for in a sitter. Within 2 days she had my super shy girl sitting on her lap. This took my husband at least a year and a half to get to that point. She sent pictures showing the same shy girl playing with a wand without the other two cats butting in. They all loved her and from what I could tell, each kitty had equal play and loving. I came home to clean litter boxes, fresh water, happy cats, and a vacuumed house! She genuinely cared about my babies. I almost want to take trips just to have Lindsey come over and love on my cats ❣️”

“The (4!) pets were so at ease with Lauren, even our skittish boy cat. She sent me lots of pictures and expertly handled my mom's cat-reactive pup. I would feel perfectly comfortable leaving our pets with Lauren again!”

About: Most dogs aren't badly behaved. They're stressed, confused, or never taught how to communicate what they need. I spent a year training in person under Tess Erngren, founder of GoodDog Academy in Oslo and one of Scandinavia's most established voices in reward-based, fear-free dog behavior work, alongside my own husky, learning hands-on. That year, and everything my own dog has taught me since, still shapes how I work today. I have pet first aid knowledge from that training as well as general first aid experience. Eight years ago, my first husky changed how I see training completely. A puppy class on fear-free, positive reinforcement methods showed me that most of what I thought I knew about training was actually about control, not trust. Force-free doesn't mean soft. It means real structure, built through a dog's own agency instead of fear and appeasement. I don't use an aversive of any kind: no e-collars, no prong or choke collars, no corrections meant to intimidate. Letting a dog choose what to sniff, where to go, and when to disengage builds confidence, not just compliance. That philosophy is the same whether I'm walking a husky who needs to run their nose for an hour, or sitting with a bichon who just wants a calm lap and a familiar routine. A session with me might look like decompression walks, nose work, or simply unstructured time to explore, whatever that particular dog needs that day. I offer walks, in-home drop-in visits, house sitting, and 1:1 training, along with basic husbandry support like nail trims and brushing. My training sessions aren't about teaching your dog to perform on command. I teach you the tools and principles: communication, timing, and how to read what your dog is actually telling you, so you can train whatever you want, on your own terms. My schedule is fully flexible, mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends. I'm happy to work around whatever fits your dog's routine best, including last-minute requests when possible. All sessions take place at your home, so your dog stays in a familiar environment. I limit the use of crates as much as possible, dogs do best with freedom and choice, but if your dog is already crate-trained and calm in one, a short session is fine. I offer meet and greets whenever that's helpful. When meeting a new dog, I let them come to me rather than approaching directly, stay relaxed and at their level, and pay close attention to their body language so the introduction happens at their pace, not mine.
“Izzy did a great job taking care of our three cats. She was extremely conscientious and was very sensitive to the cats issues especially since we were introducing two new cats into our one cat household and it was not the easiest dynamic. She was very attentive to the situation and the cats were doing well upon our return. She was very tuned into the directions about their food and litter and personalities. Izzy stayed at our home and everything was in perfect order upon our return. Izzy was very thoughtful and sending us pictures, videos, and updates. We will certainly turn to her again the next time we need pet sitting/housesitting.”

“Amy was an amazing sitter! I felt completely at ease having her in my home with my dogs, who absolutely adored her. She kept me updated throughout their stay, sent lots of pictures, and even handled a tornado warning, making sure the dogs were safe and secure. I would highly recommend her and would happily have her sit again in the future!”

“Sabrina house sir for my two dogs and was absolutely terrific! She constantly updated me with pictures and videos of the dogs, got them plenty of exercise, and kept me updated on how the dogs were doing the while we were out of state! The dogs really enjoyed her company and we will definitely be using her again!”
“Randi made herself available on short notice, for 2 meetups which we requested. She was patient getting to know our rescue pup, prior to her house sitting while we went out of town. Our pup can be high energy, and also requires walks daily. Randi handled our pup well, giving her lots of attention and even extra sniffy walks beyond what we requested 💜 She seems to truly love animals and we would recommend her!”

“Zaria was such a gift! She went above and beyond caring for our three cats—two of whom are on medication—with so much love and attentiveness. The house was spotless when we got home, and the cats were relaxed, happy, and somehow getting along even better than before we left. She’s kind, reliable, and just a joy to work with. We honestly can’t recommend her enough!”

“We are so grateful to Jacqui for taking such good care of our animals while we had a long weekend out of the city. Our usually anxious dog and somewhat avoidant cat were immediately at ease with Jacqui. We got pictures and updates every day and we will absolutely book again the next time we need a sitter.”

Cheyenne was an awesome sitter!! She communicated well throughout the trip on how our dog was doing, and even left us a lovely gift for when we arrived home. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dearborn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dearborn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dearborn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
