“Lindsey house sat and took care of our 3 very active pitbulls, 3 cats and even some of our reptiles. Communication was constant, pictures of all our pets three times a day, everyday, adressed any concerns promptly. Lindsey is thorough, polite and responsive. Our dogs had the time of thier life while she stayed with them. We have a difficult dog, she did great with Lindsey as she was patient and kind. Our cat who goes days under the bed came out to see her, we were stunned. We never worried about a thing and could enjoy our time away. Our house was pristine when we came back home. If you need a sitter, Lindsey is our recommendation. We are so pleased.”

“Cherry was so great with my dog Dallas. She was happy to house sit 3 nights last minute for me and her and Dallas are new BFF’s. I was completely comfortable leaving him and received updates and pictures. They had a great time and will definitely reach out to Cherry again when I need a sitter and highly recommend her.”

“Salina is great! She watched our house and dogs for us, and even put up with our difficult old man dog! She had great communication the whole time we were gone and sent us pictures. I would recommend her to anyone!”
“Gabbie was a great dog and house sitter! We were out of the country for ten days and I felt fully comfortable having her stay in our home and watch our dog. We came home to an immaculate house and happy pup. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for pet care in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area.”

About: I have been helping my parents with their pets for the past 15 years. At the age of 13 I was given my own puppy, which helped me understand the responsibility that it takes to care for animals. I pride myself in being a trustworthy and caring person, who loves to spend time with animals. I currently am in school for nursing so my schedule varies. I try to find free time every week to get outside and move, which is why I am looking for the opportunity to spend time with animals while I do this. I have found that animals tend to respond better to calm and collected persons, so I pride myself on staying calm under pressure. Many of the families that I have pet sit for in the past complimented my patience and caring nature.
“Sweet, responsive, and responsible. Ramen loves her. She sends lots of updates and photos to keep me informed. It’s so nice to have Izzy to lean on when I need help with sitting Ramen.”

“Nolan was 10/10 he took care of Drexl and was so positive and punctual. You can tel he is an actual lover of animals. Would use him again everytime. Thank you Nolan for taking care of my little dude Drexl!”

“Sara was amazing! She sent lots of pictures and updates of our pups, and was even willing to deal with a power outage while watching them. I will definitely be booking her to watch or walk my fur babies again.”

“Gabrielle took great care of our dog and cat while she was house sitting for us. She sent lots of updates, which we appreciated for peace of mind. When we returned home, our house was in excellent condition- probably even cleaner than how we left it! Overall, a great experience having her house sit for us while we were gone.”

About: Hello, my name is Xavier. I'm an Airforce veteran of 12 years and counting! I've taken care of dogs, cats, and other animals since I was a child. I've always grown up with both large and small dogs. Currently, I'm an owner of 3 cats and 2 golden retrievers. In my military career, I've gotten the chance to train and work with military working dogs oversees! Animals have always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily routine. As a pet owner myself, my days are built around feeding, walks, playtime, exercise, and making sure my animals get plenty of attention and companionship. I’m used to caring for multiple pets and balancing their individual needs with my daily schedule. Currently, I work 3 days a week as an RN in the ICU. Not only is my background in healthcare, I also have a military background, so being dependable, organized, and consistent with routines comes naturally to me. Whether it’s daily walks, scheduled feedings, medications, potty breaks, or simply spending quality time together, I’m comfortable incorporating each pet’s specific routine into my day. I treat the pets in my care with the same attention and responsibility that I give my own. SAFETY - Safety is one of the number one priorities for your baby. - I always ensure the tables are cleared and nothing can be easily grabbed. - If your dog goes outside, they're always visualized and monitored. - If going for a walk, the route will always be provided. Schedule/Potty Breaks - Potty breaks will always be provided every hour or if the "ques" are given. - Feeding schedules will always be honored and asked about. Environment - Safety is always the number one priority. - They will never be taken to the dog park without the owners permission. - Comfortable and relaxing environment will always be provided. - If conducting a night stay in my home, a meet and greet will always be requested to ensure there is compatibility.
“Cydnie was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I were very nervous to leave our sweet pup for 5 days- but Cydnie gave us constant updates and loved on our boy!!! She walked him every day and gave him lots of attention! Will definitely be using Cydnie for all of our dog sitting in the future!”
About: I currently have 2 dogs that I’ve trained from puppies. I’ve pet sit for my brother for the last 5 years. A day hasn’t gone by in the last 10 years that I’m not out walking dogs. I’ve cared for senior dogs as well as puppies and love them all. I currently work 2-3 days a week with a rotating schedule but am available every morning and night as well as most weekends. My schedule is extremely flexible. I have a fenced in yard in a great neighborhood. Both my dogs are extremely friendly and always looking for another friend to play with.
“Madison took excellent care of my 2 babies, Sam and Bella, for a week. She did scheduled visits for feeding, potty breaks, play time and walks. But also made quick decision for an unplanned emergency vet trip, extra drop off/pickup at the overnight MedVet for 1 pup, and an overnight stay at my house with the other pup for extra caution observation. She made sure their health was priority while I was on a cruise with limited contact. ♥️”

“Katherine was wonderful with our dog!!! We had previously boarded Fran but she was unhappy when we got home. When we got home after Katie watched her, she was her usual happy, outgoing self. Katie sent us pictures of Fran and bathed her before our return. The house and ALL of our many packages that had been delivered were stacked neatly next to our mail. It was so nice to know that everything was taken care of!!! We can’t recommend Katherine highly enough!”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Crystal. This was our first time leaving our dog with a sitter since before COVID and since he has been going through chemotherapy, so needless to say we were feeling very anxious about it. From the moment we first spoke, Crystal put all of our worries at ease. She was extremely responsive and communicative from even before our meet and greet, and we could immediately see that our dog would be exceptionally well taken care of. While we were away, Crystal provided frequent updates and pictures. Our dog can be a big handful (super dog reactive; complicated medication regime etc.), but Crystal made us feel SO comfortable and we were extremely confident that our pup was in great hands. She left our house cleaner than when we even left, and our dog clearly loved his time with her. We are so grateful for Crystal and will definitely be seeking out her help again!!!”

Chelsea was amazing! This was the first time we left our 8mo puppy with someone over night and she made it so easy. She was responsive and gave your pup the best day. She is great with bigger puppies who are still in training. 10/10 recommended and will use her in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Southgate walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Southgate maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Southgate choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
