“We love David and Marcy , lotus is always so happy and David always comes through for us. We had terrible flight trouble and got stranded and David was so kind and flexible.”

“I rebooked Meiqi and the minute my dog saw her he ran up into her arms! 🥹🥰 I am so grateful for Meiqi she loves my dog like her own and keeps him active with fun trips to places where my dog can sniff around and get his energy out. I also appreciate all the cute pictures she sends while he stays with Meiqi. My dog has become friends with her dog and it warms my heart to know when he’s happy and having fun when I’m traveling. Thank you, Meiqi! We’ll see you soon!”

“John is great with my tiny poodle! My girl Eva has anxiety and I know she must be crying for me pretty badly at first.. since she annoys my own family when I leave. When she comes back home after a stay at John’s she is literally so much more relaxed 😌 He communicates with a daily update that brightens our day. Thank you John for the care!”

“Ellana was fantastic in taking care of our 14 year old beagle, Dexter. We'll definitely be entrusting her with the care of Dexy again in the future.”

“maria made Otto feel at home immediately. she communicated really easily and, made this whole process so effortless for me. I'm so happy Otto and I met her”

“We unfortunately had to leave our new 2.5mo puppy for ten days only a couple weeks after adopting her. She was in the middle of housetraining which made us nervous but Adam was fantastic with her. He helped reinforce housetraining with Rey, gave her lots of attention, took her on good long walks, and kept us updated the whole week. Would definitely recommend Adam, especially for high energy puppies like ours.”

“We had a wonderful experience with Onelsis. She took excellent care of Samba and kept us updated with lots of photos and messages throughout her stay. It was very reassuring to see how happy, comfortable, and well cared for Samba was. Onelsis was attentive, caring, and clearly loves animals. We are very grateful for the great care she provided and would definitely book with her again. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Peih was a fantastic sitter for Ohana! I loved receiving all the photo updates; it really put my mind at ease seeing her so happy throughout the stay. Peih made sure she got plenty of exercise with long walks and was incredibly responsible about sticking to our specific treat instructions. I would definitely recommend Peih to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.”

“Kiersten and Casey did an amazing job with Nyla. She settled in quickly with no issues, which can be a challenge at times with Nyla…,plus I got a few beautiful portraits of Nyla. Talented for sure, you can see their love for dogs. I will definitely be rebooking!”

“She was really nice and great! She took care of my cat with love and good care. I got a lot of pictures daily and even videos. Definitely I’ll choose her for the next time as well.”

“Matt was fantastic with my dog Tako. She took to him instantly, which she rarely does, and I felt comfortable with him right away as well. Easy communication, easy drop-off and pick-up - would absolutely recommend!”
“Sabina was very pleasant throughout coordinating with her. She communicated frequently throughout Lily’s stay, took her on nice walks, and shared plenty of photos. We will definitely use her again to care for Lily next time we need a sitter.”

“Very caring host — Pooja took the time to get to know Matilda’s needs and take good care of her. We appreciated her flexibility and updates throughout the stay!”

“Christine and Addison are truly special cat sitters. We recently went to Europe and had to leave our nervous 3 year old cat for almost 2 weeks. He had never been watched outside of our home, and we knew he would be anxious. For the first couple days he was very nervous and scared being in a new place, but Christine and Addison were extremely sensitive and patient with him. They kept him in a separate space where he could start to relax and then slowly introduced him to the rest of the home and the other cats as he became more and more comfortable. We received constant updates about how he was doing, along with photos and videos. After a few days he was having so much fun and had made 3 new kitty friends by the time we had to pick him up. I almost felt bad taking him away as he'd become so content being there! We knew he was in competent and caring hands while we were away which gave us great peace of mind. If you need to board your cat Christine and Addison should be your top choice!”

“Rochelle was wonderful for my kitty Zeno. He seemed sad to leave ?. She sent photos and gave him his daily vitamins, and even bought new food for him when he started turning down his own food. The environment seemed calm and quiet for my very timid old cat. She cleaned out his litter and food dish and packed up his things when it was time to go. I would definitely trust her with my kitty again!”

“I really appreciated how communicative Lal was. She sent lots of photos and videos and it felt very reassuring. Lal is very kind and I know she put in great effort to make Jaz comfortable.”

“Ayush was very attentive and sweet! My dog absolutely loved being with him and was comfortable from the first moment they met. Would definitely rebook and recommend!”

Wai Pou and her family took excellent care of Azula while we were away. She followed all of our instructions closely and sent daily updates and photos, which gave my wife and me real peace of mind during our vacation. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely book with her again!

Tim was a fantastic dog sitter. He was communicative throughout the stay, sent plenty of photos and updates, and made us feel confident that our dog was in great hands. Our dog really liked Tim and seemed happy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend Tim to anyone looking for a reliable dog sitter.
My cat was having a skin issue and need to take oral and apply medication to the skin. I had a planned trip, so I had no choice but left my cat to Katherine. I was first very worried, although it seems Katherine had plenty of experiences with cats. It turned out my cat was comfortable to be with Katherine and his skin did not deteriorate and was in the progress of recovery. That is a big relief to have Katherine taking care of my cat. I will return for the service, when I have to be away for a few days.

Heather was great. She kept me updated with pictures and anecdotes during Fergus’ stay and kept him entertained and safe. When she was unable to be with him she let me know and made sure he was cared for by her partner. She followed my instructions to put his scavenging muzzle on everytime he left the apartment and I was confident he was in good hands. Thanks, Heather (and Noah)!

Eden was amazing with my border collie, Mocha! He stayed with her for eight days while I was away on a work trip, and she was incredibly attentive. She kept him active with plenty of walks and playtime, and always sent regular updates that showed just how happy he was. Thanks for the great care and for all the love you gave him!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
