Cynthia and her family were the best. Very accommodating and easy to communicate with. She sent us multiple pictures and videos throughout the day which made me feel at ease. I was so happy to see that Amaru had fun and enjoyed his stay. Will definitely book with Cynthia again and am so happy to find a new dog sitter for Amaru close to home. Winnie and Boba are THE BEST!!! 🏆 Winnie accommodated a last-minute request over Thanksgiving weekend so my husband and I could take a day trip. She even offered a meet-and-greet video call beforehand, which really put my mind at ease since it was our second time using Rover for dog sitting. 🙏 Throughout our communications, Winnie was friendly, responsive, and incredibly helpful. My doggo had a blast playing with Boba, and she sent us plenty of photos and videos showing how much fun they were having together. 🦮🐕‍🦺 When we picked him up, my dog was clearly sad to leave - always a good sign! 🥹🥲😭🫶 We're already looking forward to our next booking. Highly recommend Winnie and Boba, especially if you have a smaller breed that likes to run and play. ✨

She was super flexible and pick up and drop off time and Rilee just put all of my pet sitting anxiety at ease. I will definitely be using her again!

About: Hi, I’m Thiago! As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs and caring for them since childhood. My family has always had dogs, giving me years of hands-on experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Today, I’m proud to turn that lifelong passion into a career, providing reliable, loving, and attentive care for every pet as if they were my own. 🐾🐾 We’re a family home where everyone is passionate about dogs! I’m home full time so your dog will always be supervised and never left alone. We treat every dog like family and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved throughout their stay 🥰 I have a big fenced yard, turfed and lotta space for your puppy, I have a friendly dog so is a good company to have fun!! Our home is located only 4–5 minutes from the SFO airport which makes drop-off and pick-up super convenient for travelers. We also know that life can be unpredictable, whether it’s a delayed flight, traffic, or last-minute changes, we’re flexible and always do our best to adjust accordingly. My sister has been a professional dog sitter for years, but she’ll be taking a few months off for an upcoming foot surgery and recovery. I recently moved in to help her, and caring for dogs is now my full-time job. If you’re here from her profile, I’d love the opportunity to care for your pup and continue providing the same loving, safe and home away from home experience! ❤️

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was 13 years old, and have had cats and dogs for my entire adult life. I have helped friends and family take care of their pets for just as long. I love animals, and their well-being is my utmost priority. I have extensive experience and knowledge on what pets need from experience with my own pets and taking care of pets for others. When I am traveling or need to be away from home for any reason, my main concern is always whether my cats and dogs are happy and getting everything they need. My mission is to do everything I can to give you the worry-free experience I would want myself. I am self-employed, so my schedule is flexible around what you and your pet(s) need. I am available at most times of the day and on weekends/holidays. I understand that every pet’s need can differ based on the situation. I will care for your pet according to his/her individual need.

About: I’ve taken care of domestic animals since I was very young. Animals have always been part of my life, and I truly enjoy caring for them, pets are part of our daily routine. My daily routine already includes caring for dogs. I run a small mobile dog grooming business, so I am used to being around pets every day. I’m also used to taking care of animals since I was young, so feeding, walking, playing, and giving attention to pets fits very naturally into my routine. I live in an apartment, but my complex has a dog park and very dog-friendly spaces. Pets will always receive attention, supervision, and a calm environment. I make sure they are safe, comfortable, and follow the routine provided by the owner, including feeding, walks, playtime, and rest.

It was my first time using Howard & Linda for day care, and it was an excellent experience. Howard and their dog Truman met us for the meet and greet before the scheduled stay, and the dogs got along, as Truman is very easy going. My dog is not friendly with large dogs and requires a special diet, as well as, a regular feeding and walking schedule. Howard accommodated all of my dog’s needs during his stays. Howard & Linda are very friendly and personable people, and I highly recommend them!

About: I adopted my first rescue puppy over 19 years ago. Our most recent adoption turned out to be quite the handful. She's extremely reactive and is very anxious around strangers. I've learned so much from caring for her that I know I can care for any dog no matter their personality. I work from home so I'm available everyday and on the weekends too. I'm also self-employed so I set my own schedule and can take walk breaks whenever I like. Our house has a fully fenced in backyard. We also have an extra room that's separate from the rest of the house if your dog needs their own space.

He was kind in ensuring perishable food was kept chilled when our dog didn't finish her meal. We're so glad we found such trusted sitters.

Jeffery was fantastic. Our puppy is very skittish and doesn’t take to new people easily. By the end of doggy daycare, she was letting him pet her and feed her treats. This speaks volumes! It is clear from all interactions with Jeffery that he’s a very caring individual that puts your pet first and foremost. Would definitely recommend. Also his dog Barney was the cherry on top! Both dogs loved to play together.

About: I am a physically active recent retiree and capable dog lover who recently lost my beloved Wheaten Terrier after 11 great years with him, so I'm well able to care for your very active or senior dog that might have special dietary or physical needs. I'm recently retired and home every day, so I have lots of time to care for your pet. Drop-off and pick-up very flexible every day and evening. Although we have a securely fenced and paved back yard, it contains a swimming pool, so we kept our own pet indoors or on our fenced in, covered deck/patio which is also secure. We have a large dog crate which our dog slept in every night, but this is flexible depending on your own dog's sleeping preferences. I do not let pets sleep on my bed. We live on a very quiet street with no 'through' traffic, so it's easy to walk your dog regularly without risking encounters with other pets. Our own dog was not comfortable around other dogs and this was easy for us to manage.

About: With an early start into the industry, I have specialized experience in training, diet, and grooming cats & dogs! I also have in depth, hands on experience with medication administration of pills, capsules, liquids and shots. Building trust is another skill I pride myself on-- I am patient and make steps based on your pets comfortability. I have a deep love and respect for all different kinds of animals and would love to spend more time with them. I am home a lot, so I've got time & space to host! I wake up early for the first walk of the day followed by breakfast. A wind down after walks is my secret to well-adjusted pups. The rest of the day depends on your usual routine with your pup, so fill me in on the details, and I'll mimic that. Here, I have carpet & a fenced yard! I have plenty of toys of all sizes and durability for cats & dogs, a filtered running water fountain, and a tall, multilevel cat tree. I prioritize your pets comfort and establish a trusting relationship between them, myself, and the cats in my home. I love taking photos, and I also have a Furbo in the home, which I can use to send fun clips from your pet's stay!

About: Hi! I’m Rene — a part-time Nursing Assistant and part-time pet sitter with 10+ years of experience, and I’m almost always accompanied by my 28-lb dachshund mix, Eli, who loves helping me entertain other pups. We make a great duo for pets who enjoy company, playtime, or just having a buddy around. I’ve cared for puppies, seniors, shy pets, energetic breeds, and animals with special routines or medications. My nursing background makes me calm, attentive, and great at keeping pets on schedule and comfortable. I’ve worked with dogs, cats, small animals, and even some farm animals over the years. No matter the pet, I focus on helping them feel safe, loved, and understood. What sets me apart is my patience, communication, and the added comfort of having a friendly dog companion for pets who enjoy social time. Eli and I keep a calm cozy home environment, but we love to be active & go to nearby beaches, trails and parks in Pacifica. We treat every pet like part of our little pack! Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine since I work part-time as a Nursing Assistant and have a very flexible schedule. I’m home often, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention, walks, structured playtime, and consistent routines. I plan my shifts and errands around the pets I’m caring for so they always get reliable care without long gaps. As a part-time in-home Nursing Assistant, my schedule is very flexible- I’m home most days and build my schedule around Eli’s needs, so any pet staying with us fits right into that rhythm — lots of attention, play, and a predictable, loving routine!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Montara commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 4,184 sitters in Montara, 88% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
