“It was my first time using Howard & Linda for day care, and it was an excellent experience. Howard and their dog Truman met us for the meet and greet before the scheduled stay, and the dogs got along, as Truman is very easy going. My dog is not friendly with large dogs and requires a special diet, as well as, a regular feeding and walking schedule. Howard accommodated all of my dog’s needs during his stays. Howard & Linda are very friendly and personable people, and I highly recommend them!”

About: We are an animal-loving household! When I am with your pup, they have my full attention and we spend our time playing and going for walks. If your dog is up for it, I love taking them on longer walks on paved trails or hikes. However, I do not visit dog parks unless you specifically request it. I pride myself on building a strong bond with every dog so that I can quickly notice any signs of illness or discomfort. To ensure your pup receives total attention and love, I only host one dog at a time. Pet sitting is not a business for us; my husband and I are retired empty-nesters who simply miss the companionship of a pet. Because we love to travel, we choose not to own a dog of our own right now. On a typical day, I take your pup out 3 to 4 times: 20-30 minutes in the morning, 1–2 hours in the afternoon (depending on their energy level), and another 20-30 minutes before bedtime. If your dog prefers shorter strolls, we will take multiple brief walks instead. For playtime, we love playing tug-of-war on the deck or keep-away in our safely fenced backyard. My husband and I are active, retired empty nesters who love the companionship of pets. We walk frequently and enjoy having a fur baby join us on our adventures. When your pet stays with us, they become part of the family—we take them everywhere and never leave them home alone. If you have a preferred pet sling or carrier, please bring it along. If not, we can use ours, which is cleaned after each use. We have a large, fully fenced backyard with a clean deck and patio where I can play with your pup. The yard consists of concrete and decking, alongside dedicated areas for plants and flowers—completely weed-free! Your pet is also welcome to roam freely around our house and relax on the furniture.

About: Virtually 24/7 availability! I work from home and can provide care and attention for almost all day long. I have had dogs for about 20 years as well as lots of foster/rescue experience. I work from home so I can care for your pet as needed! Your dog can have run of the house - I allow dogs on furniture and even let them sleep in our bed if that's what they are used to. I have a fenced backyard and a small, friendly, neutered Pomeranian mix to keep your dog company! I am in a single adult home with no children.

About: After relocating from Santa Cruz, where I operated a pet care business, I am now in South City and eager to meet new clients on Rover. I have cared for dogs of all sizes and temperaments throughout my life. Friends, neighbors, and family have relied on me for walks, feeding, overnight stays, and basic manners. I currently run Munchies’ Playhouse and live with two small dogs so I understand pack energy, leash reactivity, and dogs needing extra patience. We are within walking distance of Orange Dog Park for daily play and also have a private fenced yard, allowing socialization or quiet time depending on your dog’s preference. We often visit the beach and go hiking for exercise, but a separate quiet room is available if your dog prefers rest. I am comfortable with puppies, seniors, medication reminders, and dogs that do better on separate walks. All sizes are welcome. I send photo and video updates so you always know how your pet is doing. I’m home 7 days a week, so pet care isn’t squeezed around another job, your dog can have as much time as they need. I offer weekday and weekend walks, drop-ins, daycare, and boarding, and I can usually do mornings, afternoons, or evenings. I plan around my own two dogs’ routines so everyone stays exercised and calm. Last-minute or extra visits are welcome when my calendar is open. Meet-and-greets required first so we can lock in a schedule that actually works for your pup. In my home, visiting dogs have a calm indoor space plus a private fenced yard. My two small resident dogs (a Shih Tzu and a Chiweenie) can keep your pup company if they’re social, or we keep things separate if they do better on their own. I follow your routine for feeding, meds, potty breaks, and crating. Walks are on-leash unless you say otherwise; dogs who need it get their own walk. We’re also walking distance from Orange Dog Park for playtime when that’s a good fit. I watch energy, appetite, and behavior closely and send photo/video updates so you always know how they’re doing. Meet-and-greet required before the first stay/walk to ensure that we are a good fit for you.

“I cannot say enough good things about Steve and Erika, and the loving care they provide to my dogs. Several years ago, I had a senior dog (Luna) with mobility issues and medical needs. Especially towards the end of her life, she was delicate and it was difficult to find people willing to board her. Erika was amazing with Luna. She made her a little senior dog apartment area in her living room, where she could be near the family and other dogs, but was protected from the rambunctiousness of younger dogs. She hand fed her food and cooked special meals for her. She gave her all her medications without difficulty and would sit with her and encourage her to eat and drink. Erika and Steve let her out in the middle of the night when her old lady dog bladder needed to go. I didn't travel much in the last year of Luna's life because I didn't want to be away from her, but when I did, I always knew Erika would take amazing care of her and love on her like one of her own dogs. I still watch and cherish the videos she sent me of Luna during her overnight stays. When we got Freya, our pandemic family addition, it was no question of reaching out to Erika again. Freya was a rescue dog, so had some socialization issues in the beginning when we first got her. Taking her to Erika's to board during the day when we are both at work has been transformative. Freya is now a happy, social dog, especially with other dogs. We jokingly refer to Erika as Freya's Nana (Steve is obviously Pop). Every time we go to drop her off, she can't wait to go inside and play with her dog friends. We trust Erika and Steve 100% with our dogs. I recommend them at the highest level, without reservation.”
