“Jeena was so great with our high energy dogs. She sent many pictures and kept us updated on how they were doing. We came home to happy dogs and a clean home. We will book with her again!”

“She’s great!! Came over last minute to watch our Frenchie. Very responsive and left the house just like she found it. Sent us pics of the little fur baby and kept us up to speed on everything. Love her!”

“We were nervous about leaving our fur babies having had a negative experience (not through Rover) in the past but Cara was amazing! She took the time to meet us and our puppies ahead of time, rolled with it when our one dog became two as we adopted our dog’s littermate only two weeks beforehand. She was super communicative sending us pictures and videos. We knew our dogs were getting lots of love and that our house was well cared for!!! I hope we can book Cara again in the future.”

“Jennifer and co were absolutely fantastic! I had a last minute request because my cat injured himself and needed extra care. Jennifer stayed with him, gave meds, and updated me with any changes. My other cat was also well loved and taken care of! I received many video and photo updates every night and I knew my babies were in good hands!!! I will definitely book again!”

“Ashley was amazing! It was a little rough for her and Cooper in the beginning but they both worked through Cooper's issues.I got updates several times a day which I loved. She made sure that Cooper felt safe which was my biggest priority and when she left I think my house was a little cleaner than when I left for vacation. I would definitely recommend Ashley and will be calling her again in the future.!!!”

“We had an amazing experience with Jenna! She was communicative throughout the stay, sending updates that really put us at ease. The dogs seemed happy, relaxed and well-loved! It is clear Jenna loves dogs and took care of ours like they were her own! She also house-sat for us and left everything spotless. We came home to a vacuumed, clean house and couldn’t have been happier. We’re so grateful for the care she showed our pups and our home. We’ll definitely be booking with her again in the future! Highly recommend.”

“Allison was amazing. Willing to meet before we left town, sent us a picture every day, was flexible when we needed her to come earlier than originally planned, and left our house cleaner than she found it! We will definitely use her services again in the future.”
“Hayden did a good job taking care of Jack while I was out of town. She was very attentive to his needs and made me feel comfortable. Communication was good.”

“Max took excellent care of our 2 dogs while away on vacation. He sent regular communication and I could tell he really cared about them. He left the house in great condition. Will use Max again for sure.”

“Our babies were obviously very well cared for and the house was left super clean. Our animals were relaxing comfortably when we got home- literally zero signs of stress. Tori did a great job of keeping us updated every day which helped a lot with our peace of mind. She even brought our mail and packages in so they wouldn’t get rained on! Great experience, would absolutely recommend. It was easily one of our top Rover experiences since joining the app over 2 years ago.”

“Skye was great to work with and it’s clear she wants to provide quality care. She was great to communicate with and made sure all my questions and her questions were answered. I highly recommend!”

“Tori was so great! Took good care of all of our animals, was a lovely guest in our home, shared frequent photos and status updates, and was overall a pleasure to work with. Will be rebooking. :)”

“We were so happy to leave Maple with someone we could trust to take good care of her. Maple took to Becky right away and we loved getting cute photos and videos of her antics while we were traveling. It was clear Maple was happy in her company. Great communication, and we came home to a clean house and very kindly watered plants. We’d definitely have Becky back again!”

“Alicia was great! Very responsive and timely. Took excellent care of our elderly dog, sent daily updates with pictures, and left the house in great condition! We were very pleased!”

“Autumn was amazing! This was my first time having someone watch my dog and Autumn got my high anxiety pup to warm right up to her. Thank you so much for taking care of Roux!”

“Latasha was wonderful! From the beginning she came for a meet and greet and got down on the floor with my Percy! She asked very specific questions about his routine and wanted to ensure he was as comfortable as possible. During her stay she was very interactive with Percy. Took him on outings and walks and made sure he had plenty of play time and attention. On a night of a storm she let Percy sleep in bed with her to help comfort him!! Any concerns she had she messaged me immediately. She was great about sending updates and pictures to make sure I felt he was in good hands which definitely decreased my worries. Latasha treated my home with respect and left my home just as she found it. She even helped me with my newly planted garden to ensure it stayed watered while I was away. I will definitely use Latasha again in the future.”

“Devon made my the time away from my dog very easy & enjoyable. I was away for a week and I usually have anxiety when leaving my dog, but I had no concerns as I could tell he was in good hands. Would recommend to anyone who wants to have a stress free time away from their pet.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mackenzie
It's always kind of nerve-wracking to trust someone to care for your pets and your home when you're away, especially when you've had some not-so-great experiences in the past. Jenna was so nice at the meet and greet and I felt optimistic when we left town. She was very communicative and considerate while we were away! She sent daily updates and photos so I always knew the dogs were in good hands. I always try to make sure we leave the house clean and tidy when someone will be staying at our house, and Jenna left it just as she found it! It was such a relief to come home to happy pets, and a clean home. I would highly recommend Jenna for housesitting, and I will definitely rebook her in the future!

Brooke has watched our cats and more recently our bearded dragon. She has been amazing with our animals, even getting our senior cat to play with new toys. She is great at communicating updates and was even able to accommodate a last minute schedule change for our last booking.

Ava stayed with our pups again after watching them last summer. I felt secure they were getting the best care as she was wonderful about providing a brief daily check-in with picture. She ensured our older boy received his required medicine, even charting it for me. We came home to happy and healthy dogs. We will definitely request her as our pet sitter as long as she is willing to watch our dogs. Thanks Ava!

Jenni was an excellent dog sitter for our 2 dogs. She is friendly and very communicative. We received regular updates with pictures on walks and questions when necessary. Our dogs were happy when we got home and clearly well cared for. I would rebook Jenni again!

Sits has now pup sat for us a few times. Our dog is now very old and requires a lot of care. She was great at managing his needs and providing regular updates. In addition we got a ton of packages and had a grocery delivery come while gone and she was happy to assist with these tasks. Although we’re always nervous to leave him, she was measured and calm and not overly anxious about his needs.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mackenzie walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mackenzie maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mackenzie choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
