“We are so grateful for this team! They do such a wonderful job with our Batman who needs special attention and care. Thank you again! They go above and beyond and when you come home you can feel relaxed.”

“I haven't needed a sitter in a while, so I was super nervous to leave my pup with someone new for the first time. Cara very quickly eased all of my anxiety. She sent lots of detailed updates and asked questions as they came up. My dog is usually depressed and mopey after I get home, and he seemed just like his usual self - he felt very comfortable and safe with Cara. We will definitely be reaching out for future sittings!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Alex took such great care of our dogs while we were out of town—he kept us updated with pictures throughout the week. It gave us real peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. We also came home to a spotless house, which was such a gift after traveling. Highly recommend Alex!!”

“Katie has dog/house sit for us several times. She always does a great job, ensuring to keep us updated on our fur babies and sending pictures. I highly recommend her services.”

About: Over the past 20 years I’ve owned and cared for dogs (both puppies and elderly), cats, reptiles, rodents, and invertebrates. I’ve rescued a pup and trained a couple high energy dogs, one with a great deal of anxiety and fear aggression.I have experience cat sitting for various out of town owners over the years I currently go to school part time so my schedule is pretty flexible right now. I have a one year old pup who is very active and would love to make some new friends if the opportunity arises. I love to stay active, spend time outdoors, and meet new animal friends. Providing pet care is a job I was made for. Whether in my own home, or in a clients home, I can guarantee that your pet will get the care they are accustomed to. I am a detail oriented mother myself and understand the value of knowing your instructions will be followed and your babies will be safe.

“Marsha took amazing care of my dog for an entire week, and I couldn’t be happier with her service. From the moment she arrived at my home, I felt completely comfortable knowing my pup was in good hands. Marsha provided frequent updates and pictures, which I truly appreciated—it allowed me to enjoy my trip without worrying. It’s clear that Marsha genuinely loves animals and treats them as if they were her own. I returned to find my dog happy, healthy, and well-loved. I’ll definitely be reaching out to Marsha again in the future. Thank you, Marsha, for doing such an incredible job!”

“Claire was above and beyond for us! She took the most incredible care of Pebbles and she was so flexible with my schedule changes. She was so patient when our A/C went out while I was gone. She is the blueprint for dog watchers and there is nothing I wouldn’t trust her with! She played with Pebbles and I got a lot of photos. Claire is an ANGEL!!!”

“Lauryn stayed at our house for ten days and took fantastic care of our two older dogs with multiple medication needs. She sent great photos that made us confident the dogs were well loved and the house looked amazing when we got back.”
“Rebecca was wonderful with my two super-sized dogs. Great communication and photos, very patient with their demands to cuddle with her (which is no easy feat when there is 300lbs of dogs sharing your bed) and understood the challenges (and sometimes unexpected behavior) that rescue dogs have as baggage. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“Ashley was amazing! It was a little rough for her and Cooper in the beginning but they both worked through Cooper's issues.I got updates several times a day which I loved. She made sure that Cooper felt safe which was my biggest priority and when she left I think my house was a little cleaner than when I left for vacation. I would definitely recommend Ashley and will be calling her again in the future.!!!”

“Allison was fantastic! Our two cats were so loved and she took the most professional photos of them to send to us. Our house was immaculate as well. Allison also went above and beyond to help us prepare for a snowstorm that would start as we returned. Would book her again and again.”

About: I’ve been caring for cats for many years and have experience pet sitting for both cats and dogs for friends and family. While my background is stronger with cats, I’m comfortable handling the day-to-day needs of dogs as well, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and maintaining routines. I know how important consistency is for pets, especially when their owners are away, so I make it a priority to carefully follow any instructions regarding feeding, medications, dietary restrictions, routines, or other special care needs. Because I work remotely, I’m also able to spend much more time at home with pets than many sitters can, which means more company, attention, and supervision throughout the day. I currently work remotely on a typical Monday–Friday daytime schedule and am able to work from anywhere within the state, which means I can comfortably set up my work-from-home station while house and pet sitting. This allows me to be much more present and attentive throughout the day compared to sitters who may be away for long periods of time. My work is also fairly flexible, allowing me to adjust meetings and tasks as needed to help accommodate feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, medications, and other routine care. Weekends are typically very open for me as well, giving me even more flexibility and availability for your pets’ needs. I currently have two cats of my own: Draco, an 11-year-old part Manx, and Loki, a 6-year-old black American Shorthair. I’ve had both of them since they were kittens, and caring for them has given me years of hands-on experience with maintaining routines, monitoring health, and creating a calm, safe environment for pets. Draco previously needed some extra attention with his weight and diet, and through a consistent feeding routine and focused care, he was able to lose over 10 pounds and maintain a much healthier lifestyle. That experience reinforced for me how important consistency, patience, and closely following care instructions can be for pets. Loki is a rescue and can be a little shy at first, so I also understand the importance of giving pets time to adjust, respecting their comfort levels, and helping anxious pets feel safe and secure. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I aim to maintain their normal routines as closely as possible so they feel comfortable, relaxed, and well cared for while their owners are away.
“Chloe took wonderful care of my Frenchie and cat! Her communication was great, she left my house in impeccable shape and my babies were happy and healthy when I got home. Would definitely book her again!”

“Rusul handled a long-term stay in our home with our two dogs with the greatest of ease. Our dogs thrive with her care and our home was well watched after as well!. She kept us well informed with great photos.”

“Latasha was wonderful! All the cats loved her as soon as they met her. She has a natural talent when it comes to getting to know your pets. She sent pictures of our cats to us everyday on vacation and was super responsive on her phone when we wanted to see our pets. It was such a relief knowing that she was here with them. One of the things I appreciated the most was that when we got here it was as clean as when we left it. She took all the notes and she performed the tasks laid out to her exactly like we did with the cats. She also helped keep them on their schedule by following their feeding times. Latasha played with them which is honestly more than I do sometimes. They may have gotten a little spoiled with all the attention lol. Each day she would send images but she'd also send a little story or observation of the cat. That was nice because it helped us to know that they were acting in their usual ways and not sad that we were gone and missed us. I would 1000% book Latasha again. If you've never had a cat sitter (we hadn't) she will answer all your questions and really set your nerves at ease.”

Katie was amazing! I have one pup that’s shy and difficult to handle and then I have another one that gets overly excited. Katie did such a great job and kept us updated on everything. The dogs were happy when we came back and very well taken care of. I would absolutely have Katie come watch them again. 10/10

Alexandra watched my German Shepherd and senior cat while I was away for a float trip over the weekend. Even though she knew I would be in an area with limited cell reception, she took the time to send pictures and updates a few times a day so they’d arrive when I did have service. I could tell that my printed care instructions were followed because they were checked off and notes added where needed. Alexandra also went the extra mile and took the time to brush my cat, strip the bedding off the bed, and leave a written note before she left. Would highly recommend Alexandra as a petsitter!

Janina is the best. Her communication is second to none, including consistent updates with photos so we know our pups are well taken care of. Our two pups can be slow to warm, including our 90-pound boy. But they both took to Janina right away. When our plans changed last minute, she was very accommodating and went above and beyond. Plus she left our home cleaner than when we left. She’s the first person we’ll be reaching out to the next time we need someone to care for our pups!

Lauren was excellent! She arrived on time and sent updates on our pups as well as mail/packages that arrived while we were gone. She took great care of our girl and boy. I think they were both more sad she was gone than they were happy we were back! She was accommodating when our return was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances as well! She left our home clean and went above and beyond with washing towels and bedding before we returned. 10 out of 10 recommend Lauren for sitting!

Chris was amazing! Great communication and some great pics of our pups enjoying their time with him. Our pups were relaxed and happy when we came home and our house was spotless. This was our first experience with Chris and Rover, but it most certainly will not be our last.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Affton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Affton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Affton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
