“Megan did an amazing job caring for our cats while we were out of the country for two weeks. She was even able to give one of our cats medication. I am truly so thankful for her, and our cats absolutely love her! She gives us so much peace of mind.”

“Amanda is amazing and sweet. She helps us so much with our puppy, giving us a little break to do house things or giving him a walk when we're away. Makkachin always loves seeing her each time. 7/5 stars.”

“Joyce is so amazing! Our shy dog needs time to warm up to new people. Joyce has been so patient and kind and given our pup all the space and time she needs! We are so happy to have her care for our Nova!”

“Maddie was wonderful with Roxy! Roxy can be a little hesitant with meeting new people, but she warmed right up to Maddie. She did everything we requested and we loved the photos!”

“Kateri was wonderful with my two kitties while I was gone for two weeks. She stopped by everyday and played and cuddled with them. When I returned they were happy and the house was clean of excess flying fur and the litter area looked sweeped up. Would highly recommend Kateri!”

“Kristi is amazing. Every time she watches my cats, the house is left in perfect order. She also makes sure my cats are well taken care of and leaves me notes detailing her visits. She’s the best rover I’ve ever hired. Couldn’t recommend her more!”

About: I've been a business professional for decades who misses giving love to the fur babies. I've had dogs most of my life and cats for the last 20. I work remote in finance. I miss my own pets. This gives me the opportunity to get some much needed animal kisses. I've never met a dog that didn't love me. Happy to care for your pets in your home. Does your dog need crated? How about a good long walk to make them feel better.
“Lexi took care of our cat, Scarlet, while we were out of town. She dropped in two times per day for about 10 days to feed Scarlet & clean her litter box. It was great to know that our kitty was well taken care of while we were away!”

About: I’ve had experience taking care of dogs since I was 8. I received my family dog as a Christmas present and learned the responsibilities quickly. My family and friend have relied on me to take care of our pets when they aren’t home, coming late from work or just need a helping hand. I walk, feed, and even have bathed dogs during my care. I love to take my dogs in walks on trails especially in the fall!! I work the typical 9-5, working in office Tuesday-Thursday. Mondays & Fridays, I typically work from home, so I can hang out with your pet while I work remotely (we’ll both need a few walks throughout the day). I am available most weekends as well. I will make sure your pet is comfortable with me and will make sure to do whatever is needed to accomplish that. I will walk them for any set duration of time and play with them outside also. I am a dog lover and have a soft spots for cats as well! I will follow any instruction or safety measures to make sure you and your pet are comfortable.
“Christabel was excellent. She responded quickly to my initial inquiry and kept me informed throughout the visit period. I received pictures twice a day and saw my cat becoming progressive more and more comfortable with her. The final nap on her lap melted me! Christabel is responsible, caring, and considerate. Highly recommend.”

About: I am an animal person through and through. I grew up with dogs, my dad bred and trained them. I have been trusted by roommates, family members, and friends to care for their pets as well. These include large and small dogs, senior dogs, cats, and kittens. I love spending time with animals, so it makes me feel so grateful that I can help you by doing something I love :) I am currently in an MBA program through John Carroll University (night classes). So, I am available most mornings and afternoons. I have a super flexible schedule so please reach out! I am respectful of others spaces, so when caring for your pet at your home or in your neighborhood, I will clean up after them, play with them, and offer any cuddles they need. At home, my roommate has a two year old cat. When we adopted her, the shelter told us that she is an “only cat.” I can’t imagine her being mean to anyone, but to be safe, I will not bring your pets to my home.
“Melissa was absolutely wonderful, and I am so thankful we found her! She completely eased my anxieties about leaving my two senior, high maintenance dogs for the weekend. It was obvious from the start that she is a true dog person. She followed all of my instructions, communicated clearly, and kept me updated with pictures throughout each visit, which gave me so much peace of mind while we were away. She was patient, attentive, and more than capable of handling my senior boys and all of their quirks. I truly hope Melissa is willing to watch my pups again in the future because I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and trustworthy sitter!”

About: Hi! I’m Colleen, and I know exactly how much trust it takes to leave your feline family members in someone else’s care. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lakewood
We are so fortunate to have met Olesja to help take care of our 2 young whippets, Sophia & Scout. She was so personable and friendly during the meet and greet, and was very attentive. She came last weekend and spent the entire time playing, walking, feeding, photographing, and cuddling with our dogs. It took no time for them to warm up to her as she is so good with them. They even posed for her in some of the amazing pictures she took. She followed all of my notes I gave her regarding feeding, walking, and some other little things. She was very communicative and kept me aware of when she arrived and when she left which reassured me she was taking good care of our babies. It is apparent that Olesja takes a serious interest in dog care and she truly connects with them. She is also very responsible and reliable. We are so grateful for her.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Lakewood stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
