“We could not have been happier with the help Courtney provided with our pups. She took great care of them, and they have never been away from all of us overnight. They were well taken care of, and Courtney even provided notes on work we can continue to do with our puppy. We will be bringing Courtney back again. Our dogs love her, and she is amazing at what she does.”

“Bobbie S is an amazing dog sitter. She took such good care of our dogs and followed our instructions to the letter. Our dogs were in such a relaxed and happy mood when we returned just as if we had been there ourselves. 6/5 stars.”

“Jennifer is wonderful with our pets and also very considerate, leaving our house cleaner than when we left. It's nice to be able to relax on vacation without worrying about how things are going at home. With Jennifer we know everything's fine. Highly recommend her!”

“Erica stayed with our Pup and Kitty Cat last weekend! This was our first time working with Erica, and we recommend her highly. She was prompt, professional, flexible, friendly and clearly loves and knows about animals. She asked all the right questions and followed through, making everything easy for us and quickly earning our confidence. And she sent photos, so we could see how things were going. We are grateful to have met you, Erica - thank you for making it possible for us to attend a special family event out of town!”

“Jennifer is kind, responsive, and very attentive to animals. My dog loved her the moment she walked into the house. It is obvious that she loves animals! She also is timely, responsible, and took great care of my home.”
About: I’ve actually had all kinds of pets my whole life, dogs, cats, fish, bunnies, hamsters, turtles so I can confidently say I’m attentive to each one’s personality, habits, needs. I’ve welcomed many stray dogs and cats into my home to care for them and feed them and rehome them. I’ve potty/litter trained countless times and I can train them for meal times, to sit or give paw(dogs), to not scratch the couch(cats). In the last 4 years in particular, family members have asked me to pop by and check on and feed their babies. One household has two very loving and hyper dogs ages 2 & 3 yrs old that have a specific diet and meal times. They are potty trained outside so I walk them 2-3x a day depending on the hours I watch them. Second household has one 14 yr old dog and a 2 yr old cat, also with their own diets and meal times. The dog uses pee pads as she’s older and potty trained outside as well. Third household has 7 cats that range from 1 yr old to 7 yrs old. They’re all more free spirited and independent as they look after each other, they all eat at the same time and have indoor and outdoor privileges. I currently have full and open availability. I’d love to gain more experience looking after pets. My cat is very independent and clean, as long as I feed him in the morning and evening and keep his litter box clean, he’s a very good boy. It gives me the confidence to be able to help someone else with their fur babies either for work or trips. I can do from simply check-ins or stay in nights at a time with them. Im super flexible. As of right now, unfortunately I don’t have the proper space to bring others pets in ): but I am more than dependable and respectful to care for furbabies in their own home. Anything from simple and winging it to a list of instructions, your furbaby won’t see me as an intruder, but as their company.
“We knew Danielle would be wonderful from the moment we met her when she first came over. She took wonderful care of our kitties and updated us frequently to let us know how they were doing. She is obviously a pro since both of them became more friendly towards her. We highly recommend Danielle to take care of your loved creatures and every time we need someone she will be the first one we call.”

“Tally was great with my chocolate lab who has separation anxiety. She was attentive and gave him lots of love and hugs. My house was immaculate when I came home after a 4 day trip. Highly recommend Tally!”

“Sarah was very responsive and kind and took great care of our pets and home. I’m very grateful for her communication and reliability, which gave me peace while we were away. Thank you, Sarah!”

About: I have never known a life without a pet of some kind. Having animals, I learned very early on the importance of responsibility as well as empathy for the feelings and lives of others. Just as we pay attention to human body language for cues, the same standard comes into play for animals. Because they can’t speak like we do, it is important to be attentive as well as respectful of their needs. I have 10+ years of experience from not only my own array of pets (dogs, geckos, horses, chickens, ratties, cats, etc), but also from my main line of work. I have been an in home nursing assistant for 5 years, beginning with taking care of my great grandmother and her dog in her home which blossomed into the career I know and love today. My integrity and compassion for both animals and humans has led to many opportunities for me. From walking dogs for neighbors and friends, grooming assistance, occasional medical assistance, Overnight sitting/boarding, and even small excursions for enrichment, all the way down to childcare in some cases. I am a child at heart and with animals, my spirit is at play. they bring just as much joy to my life as I hope to bring to theirs. I’d love to treat your furrever baby like my own while you’re away 🤍 I am currently taking a break from my human patients and putting more emphasis on building my animal care portfolio. I’d like to become a pet sitter/walker full time while back in school. I am able to provide A well enriched and attentive home with lots of toys and attention to offer. There is a park less than 5 minutes walking distance as well that I’d be happy to take your pet to visit for potty breaks and play, should that be okay with you. I don’t particularly like to crate dogs, however, if that is their safe space or they happen to be crate trained that’s no issue at all/is appreciated if they do not do well being left alone for an hour or so at a time. Communication is key and you will always be contacted should anything of concern arise.
“Anna was a great help to all of us when she cared for our pups… CC & Gus. She was good with both dogs, kept them happy and safe plus well fed. She seemed to enjoy her time with them and sent pictures. She stayed with them while we were gone a couple of days which made it possible for us to enjoy our time since we knew the dogs were well taken care of. Thanks Anna!”

“Maria was fantastic. We were worried about leaving our two young dogs with someone new but she treated them like they were her own. She also sent updates and pictures as requested and I could tell that they loved her. We are so glad that we found her!”

“Alex was awesome! Being gone for a few days from my babies was so hard for us but She would update me on how our babies were doing by sending photos. All around I would definitely recommend her and will use her again in the future!”

“Trent and his wife were absolutely fantastic with my two boys Astro & Adonis! Astro is my senior and Adonis is still a puppy but super big and super reactive with other people and animals. Trent and his wife made sure to introduce themselves very gently and were so amazing! Both Astro and Adonis absolutely loved them and all their care. I always worry for my boys but I was so relieved leaving them both under Trent's supervision. I highly recommend Trent for anybody who has large dogs like mine. He was so responsive and friendly + extremely accommodating. Thank you both!!!”

“100% recommend Alexzandria!! From the time I started messaging her she asked all the right questions about my dogs. She was very flexible and communicated well! I got daily updates without prompt! I was worried about finding someone for 2 dogs, especially one being a puppy but this worked out perfectly!”

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life so I’m very familiar with long walks playtime, feeding administering medication and most importantly love and comfortability. I hate to say it, but my dogs are spoiled like they are my own children so my Doberman is my son and my cocker spaniel mix is my daughter and I do refer to them that way 😂 I can’t wait for them to have a bunch of doggy cousins! My work weeks are pretty flexible. I go into work for a minimal amount of time. I have dogs of my own so I don’t like to keep them home alone for long. Our days are filled with cat naps long walks. They are free roaming animals so they’re welcome on the furniture and the bed. There is an outdoor patio area that is turfed that my own dogs enjoy . They are feed once in the morning once in the evening. My Doberman is also spent doing mental stimulation and training so I’m happy to teach your dog a few new tricks also :)
About: I grew up with a dog and a cat and recently have got a dog of my own who is very much like a son to me. I absolutely love taking care of him and I treat any pets just as I do my own. I was especially drawn to Rover after long-term dog sitting these 2 wonderful Dobermans a few months ago, it made me want to create even more special bonds just like that. I am genuinely so happy spending time around animals… I have always taken up dog sitting opportunities for family or friends and now I would like to extend my love out to your pets as well!🩷🫂 Right now, dog sitting is my full time job so I am dedicated to giving your pets the most attentive care I can. I am super flexible and currently offering dog walking, drop in visits, and house sitting during the week and on weekends!! Check my calendar for specific availability. I am used to incorporating 1-3 dogs + a cat into a daily routine (for the past 6 years). I really enjoy long walks and playing outside or even napping with my dogs. I have unconditional love ready to give to any pet… you are doing me a favor by allowing me the opportunity to get to know and love your fur baby🥹🥹 I will always make sure that your pet and I are both respectful of house rules while still having fun. I do try to work on small behavioral training such as sit and stay on a daily basis. I will always be on top of it to make sure your dog stays on schedule and give endless cuddles so they stay happy as well.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Homelands is $63

Stephanie did a great job taking care of our dog Rugby. She sent photos and updates everyday which gave me peace of mind. Our dog has some medical needs that required special attention and care including medication. She was able to work through his anxiety and take great care of him. She also stepped in very last minute after someone backed out on us and she was a lifesaver! She also took great care of the house which I appreciated!

Five stars is not enough. From the first minute of meeting Courtney I was comforted by her calm and warm demeanor. I knew my two large dogs were in good hands which helped relieve some of the anxiety of leaving your dogs at home. Courtney is excellent at communicating, setting expectations, and making sure she has everything she needs to care for your dogs. She provided lots of photos and updates, and I got to see that my anxious velcro dog had quickly warmed up to her. Unfortunately a breaker tripped during her sit, but Courtney went above and beyond to help troubleshoot and get things squared away with power at the house. I will absolutely book with Courtney again and I’m more likely to travel knowing my boys are in good hands. Thank you Courtney, you are the best.

I’m always so grateful to have Sarah look after my sweet old pup when I’m away! And this time Sarah also cared for my friend’s dog who was visiting. Sarah always makes the time to ensure that she’s up to date on any changes and she even came by for an extra meet and greet to meet my friend’s dog before her stay. I love getting all of her updates, and knowing that the pups are loved so fully while I am away makes it easier for me to be present and enjoy my time out of town.

Alexis was amazing! I've always done check-ins and never used house-sitting, and Alexis was so helpful and responsive during the booking process, along with the meet-and-greet and planning process. She also communicated frequently during my trip, and as a bonus, she made a gorgeous drawing of my sweet pup, and left it as a surprise. My next house/pet sitter WILL be her!

Gretchen was fantastic with my dog, Marshall. It was immediately clear that she has a genuine love for animals and truly enjoys spending time with them. Marshall took to her quickly, and I felt completely comfortable knowing he was in such caring and capable hands. She took him on nice long walks, gave him plenty of attention, and did a wonderful job keeping him happy and comfortable while I was away. I really appreciated how attentive she was to his routine and needs. Gretchen was also incredibly respectful of my home and left everything spotless. It’s not always easy to find someone who is both an excellent pet sitter and such a considerate house guest, but she was both. I would absolutely trust Gretchen with Marshall again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and responsible pet sitter.

I am so thankful for Christine's care. She is very kind, communicative, and reliable. When I needed someone last minute, she was ready to go and super helpful. Christine made my dog feel reassured and loved while I've been away. Thank you so much for all your care💖

This was the first time we used Jasmine as a dog sitter and the only thing I wish would be different is that we’d found her sooner. We were in a pinch with time, booking close to the last minute, but Jasmine came through amazingly. She was prompt to the meet and greet and asked great questions, listened and was clear in her communication. While we were gone, she gave us updates and let us know if anything happened of note. Our dog had an upset tummy and we were able to work through it and she got him feeling better soon. She also took great care of our house. Hope we get her to watch our pup again!!

Justine is very professional, caring and thorough. She took excellent care of Danso and followed all instructions perfectly. She went above and beyond and i felt more than comfortable with time she spend watching after Danso and my house. She sent lots of detailes updates with pictures and video. Highly recommend and will be booking her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Homelands on Rover is $57.18 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 6,144 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Homelands. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Homelands walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Homelands maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Homelands choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
