Courtney did a great job with our typically anxious dog. She came over to meet us earlier in the day, arrived early for her assigned time and bonded well with our pup. She sent us multiple photos and a video throughout her evening of dog sitting him. Looking forward to booking her again in the future.

About: I absolutely love taking care of my dogs and I treat any pets just as I do my own. I was especially drawn to Rover after long-term dog sitting these 2 wonderful Dobermans, it made me want to create even more special bonds just like that. I am genuinely so happy spending time around animals… I have always taken up dog sitting opportunities for family or friends and now I would like to extend my love out to your pets as well!🩷🫂 I am dedicated to giving your pup the best care possible. I am super flexible and currently offering dog walking, drop in visits, and house sitting during the week and on weekends!! Check my calendar for specific availability. I am used to incorporating 1-3 dogs + a cat into a daily routine (for several years). I really enjoy long walks and playing outside or even napping with my dogs. I have unconditional love ready to give to any pet… you are doing me a favor by allowing me the opportunity to get to know and love your fur baby🥹🫶 I will always make sure that your pet and I are both respectful of house rules while still having fun. I do try to work on small behavioral training such as sit and stay on a daily basis. I will always be on top of it to make sure your dog stays on schedule and give endless cuddles so they stay happy as well.

Our flight got cancelled and Maria came to the rescue! One of our two dogs is very nervous and it is always scary for us to have someone walking into the home without us there. But because they know and love Maria, we knew that our dogs were in good hands when she stayed with them for a few hours when our trip home was delayed. How they react to her is a good indication of the care that she gives them.

We left our babies Sadie and Frankie with Erica for one week. I received updates almost every day ( our reception was spotty). My babies even slept in the same bed with her. You can almost instantly tell she has a knack this! She even waited until 10pm to bring them home to us so they wouldn't be alone until we got home since we had to drive from LAX to SD! She didn't have to do that since we have a doggy door and everything but that's how much she cared about them. We are now going to be using her for our trip in October! We highly recommend her! Thank you much Erica!

We knew Danielle would be wonderful from the moment we met her when she first came over. She took wonderful care of our kitties and updated us frequently to let us know how they were doing. She is obviously a pro since both of them became more friendly towards her. We highly recommend Danielle to take care of your loved creatures and every time we need someone she will be the first one we call.

Janet house sat and watched our crazy 5.5 month old puppy and our 13 year old dog while we were on vacation. She stayed at our house and every day she sent us updates and pics of our girls. Our older dog takes quite a few meds and Janet was diligent with all of them. Our neighbors reported seeing lots of walks and attention. The girls were looking happy and well when we got home. Our home was clean as well. We would definitely book Janet to stay with the girls again!

About: I’ve been a vet assistant for over 20 years. I have been a pet sitter back in New Jersey. It’s what I love to do. Pet sitting is what I love to do. Rover gives me the flexibility to make my own schedule. Giving me the opportunity to give lots of love and attention to your fur baby or babies! I am only able to care for pets at clients houses as I do not have a fenced in back yard. I feel when dogs and cats stay in their own home they are more comfortable.

About: Growing up, I’ve always had pets. I love animals more than anything, and i’m currently in school to become a Veterinary Technician. I attend Grossmont College as a Ceramics student, to further my hobby into a future part time career. We have two boston terriers at home, who are 4 and 6. i have experience caring for disabled pups as i had a 16 year old dachshund who had been paralyzed. while i don’t have a cat currently, i grew up with cats and love them dearly. I’ve pet sit for neighbors and friends since i was 16, watching dogs and cats of various sizes, energies, and behaviors. I’m available for overnight stays if you’re headed out of town, or a drop by visit if you need someone to feed and play with your baby while away! I hope you’ll consider me to watch your furry friend 🩷 I am a part time student at grossmont college, and grossmont adult school. Both are evening attendance. Class duration: Monday/Wednesday: 5:45pm-8:35pm Tuesday/Thursdays: 2pm-8pm Friday-Sunday: Open I’m happy to arrange a meeting with you prior to the job to see the home, and meet the animals. Please leave/send information about the animals feeding schedule, food type, medications/vitamins, and directions about your home. Overnight stays: I will bring my own food, i just ask to use the fridge :) Im okay with sleeping on the couch! Your home will be tidied up before i leave; you’ll find it just the way you left it.

Kaitlin took such great care of my pets, and my apartment! I’m always nervous to have someone new stay in my space and care for my animals, but Kaitlin’s caring and kind demeanor made me feel at ease :) She sent me updates and pictures daily, and was easily able to follow all the instructions. I know my pets really enjoyed spending time with her, too. She also left my apartment tidy and clean, which was so nice to come home to after a long trip.

Brittany is the kind of pet sitter you hope to meet on this app. She went above and beyond from the start. I left on a 9 day trip out of state which was the longest I've ever left my pup and was a bit nervous since this was my first time using Rover for pet sitting. Brittany agreed to a meet & greet prior to booking, was down to earth, genuine, answered all my questions, and I could see how much she loved dogs when she met mine. During my trip, she was fast to respond when I reached out, sent so many photos of my fur baby and honestly went above and beyond the entire time. She asked for local park recommendations, for detailed instructions about his feeding schedule and really made sure to check all the boxes. My pup also sadly got an ear infection right before and she had no problem at all caring for that on top of everything else. I will 1000% be booking again with Brittany for all my future pet sitting needs. Highly recommend you do too!

FAQs for House Sitting - Rancho San Diego

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Rancho San Diego on Rover is $62.16 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 6,024 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rancho San Diego. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rancho San Diego walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rancho San Diego maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rancho San Diego choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rancho San Diego. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
