“Very happy repeat customer here 😊 we love having Nichole take care of our (very lively and needy) pup!! Nichole goes above and beyond to make sure our girl is well taken care of, and sends lots of updates and photos. She also takes great care of the house - leaves everything clean and in order, and even makes us homemade baked goods 😋 we love Nichole, and can’t wait to work with her again!! Highly recommended for anyone who needs fun, loving, and responsible pet care.”

“Ashley was an awesome pet sitter and our pets loved her. She’s great with dogs and cats and knows how to adapt to different pet personalities very well! I highly recommend her.”

“Maura, thank you for taking care of Murphy overnight. We knew he was in great hands with your care. We appreciate the photo updated so much! We will be in touch again!”

“Molly has been walking our dogs for a couple of weeks, and we couldn’t be happier! Our dog, Finn, is pretty nervous and weary of strangers, but Molly has been really patient with him! Would 100% recommend”

“We were delighted with the care Gabby provided for our 12year old dog and the care she took of our home. Responsive, communicative and reliable. Responded to our messages promptly and sent daily updates as we had requested. Will call on her again if needed.”
“Really appreciate Jared's attention to detail. Our pets have a somewhat complicated feeding schedule! Communication level was great and gave us peace of mind while we were away.”

“Giovanna was a wonderful sitter and I would trust her to stay again any time. She handled a very chaotic weekend and I was never once worried + I came back to a spotless house. I’ll be sure to book with her should I need someone in the future.”

“Xena was great with my dog, Penny! She took great pictures and sent updates throughout the day. She communicated well and I could tell my dog was well taken care of. Thanks, Xena! 😊”

About: Individual with a BS degree in animal science who loves animals of all kinds and would love to keep your furry family members as happy, active, and healthy as possible while you are away! I have over 1000 hours working with animals in all aspects from basic husbandry and pet sitting to veterinary clinical care! Due to my busy schedule working a full time job at a veterinary clinic, my services are best suited to individual walks or drop in visits on my days off (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays), or sitting for pets that are able to be left alone for 9+ hours at a time. I do not have any pets of my own and am child free, so I can easily provide overnight pet sitting for clients if they would prefer rather than just being present during the day.
“Cora was an excellent sitter that got Ozzy and Dee out for many walks. They loved her and she was attentive and an extremely good communicator which put our minds at ease. Definitely will look to book again and highly recommend to all pet owners!”

“Christina was wonderful with our dog Gabby. I'm so glad we could have someone come stay with her instead of trying to put her in a kennel environment. Christina provided regular updates and responded quickly, putting us at ease. She sent lots of photos and we could tell Gabby had a great time with her. Would definitely recommend her!”

About: I love pets! I have experience house/dog sitting for clients that have taken vacations of up to 15 days. While house sitting, I can also bring in mail and water plants. In the past, I have been able to watch up to 2 dogs at a time. I love the exercise that comes from walking dogs, and I welcome dogs that have both high and low energy levels. When given specific instructions about caring for someone's dog, I always follow them, never letting my previous experience and "what I usually do" come before meeting the expectations of my clients. I have lived with at least one dog as a pet for 18 years of my life. Let me take care of your dog and be an extension of your love towards them when you cannot be there. I have graduate school classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but I am free for pet care outside of those hours. I am flexible to work around your schedule. I’ve house sat and taken care of cats and dogs while I’ve lived in the house. I’ve also stopped by house periodically to walk dogs and feed them. I’m open to both methods.
“Lisa was amazing! Our Zoey is grumpy with new people but warmed right up to her! 10/10 would recommend to anybody. She was professional and communicated clearly with us. She even made sure to send pictures for my boys of the dogs' presents from Santa!”
“Chinyere performed a great job in taking care of my babies while I was out of town. She was very attentive and provided numerous photos. If in need of a pet sitter, I wholeheartedly recommend Chinyere.”

“Charlotte took great care of my dog Juniper! She sent lots of pictures and Juniper was relaxed and happy when I got home. Juniper is a reactive dog who is afraid of new people, Charlotte did a great job overcoming that challenge and walking Juniper in a neighborhood full of other dogs!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Hillandale is $50

Maura took care of my dog (Brisket) for 6 days while we were out of the country. It’s my first time leaving my dog for more than a day and I was really unsure and scared but I felt completely at ease because of her. Maura is attentive, reliable, caring, sends pictures and updates, plays with him, takes him to the dog park, and follows all the instructions. Brisket is really happy and well taken care of. I highly recommend her! And would definitely trust her to watch Brisket again! Very very grateful for all the love and care she gave to Brisket :)

Nichole is a INCREDIBLE! She is so kind, caring, and trustworthy and we recommend her to anyone. We have two very high maintenance and reactive dogs. She is AWESOME with them. They love her, and Nichole really understands pets so well. She goes above and beyond to take care of our dogs and our home. Can’t wait to hire again and we recommend her to anyone and everyone! 1000/10

Jordan was a fantastic in-home, overnight sitter for our dog, Lily, who fell in love with Jordan during our very first meet & greet! Jordan provided the most amazing end-of-day reports and sent plenty of photos during their long walks, of Lily eating her meals, and their cuddle time at night. Jordan is friendly, punctual, responsible and highly engaged. We were at ease during our trip knowing that she was back at the house taking care of our fur baby! Will absolutely use Jordan again! 5-stars!

Monica did an amazing job taking care of our three dogs (one of which is a senior dog with health issues). Monica stopped by ahead of time to meet our dogs and get all of the necessary information; she is extremely professional and responsible. She clearly loves dogs and handled our three dogs with different food and walk requirements with ease. She also sent us cute photos of the dogs while we were gone. We felt very lucky to have her taking care of our dogs while we were away. We highly recommend Monica!
Veronica is absolutely wonderful. She took such loving, attentive care of my two dogs, and I felt completely at ease knowing they were with her. She is incredibly kind, reliable, communicative, and clearly genuinely loves animals. I came home to two very happy, well-cared-for dogs. I couldn’t recommend her more highly and feel so lucky to have found her!

Steven did an awesome job with our very elderly pup while we were out of the country for over a week. He followed his food, walk, and medication routines, and gave daily updates with pictures. We came home to a pup who had been well-cared for. Thanks so much Steven!

Charlotte took great care of my dog Juniper! She sent lots of pictures and Juniper was relaxed and happy when I got home. Juniper is a reactive dog who is afraid of new people, Charlotte did a great job overcoming that challenge and walking Juniper in a neighborhood full of other dogs!

My dog loved Alexis, he just stared at the front door when she left. Guess he didn’t miss us as such as I missed him. He had lots of walk and MANY treats. From all the pics he looked very chill. Can’t say enough good things about Alexis and the care she gave my dog.

Lesly took care of our two mixed breed rescues and was fantastic with them. She sent us updates each day (or more) and we felt very at ease knowing how they were doing. One of our dogs is a very fussy eater but Lesly worked her magic. We will love to have Lesly back for our next trip without hesitation.

We could not be more thankful to Meghan for taking such incredible care of our pups! She was attentive, followed our pup’s routines, and was extremely communicative; providing thorough updates complete with pictures of the pups throughout our time away from them. She made sure to keep our dogs comfortable in their own home while making us at ease while we were away. We will absolutely use Meghan’s services again in the future!

Tyette was fantastic. She sent us pics of all the dogs several times during the week, and offered to stay later on the last day in case our flight was delayed (it wasn't). She knew to keep the dogs inside during the smoke/air quality alert from the Canadian forest fires. We would absolutely hire her again.

Dobby is generally anxious about meeting new people but he warmed up to Ixchel quickly. She managed his quirks and challenges well and without complaint. We returned home to a happy and healthy dog and a clean apartment. We would definitely book with Ixchel again!
Ben took great care of our dog, Banjo, while we were away on a long trip (almost 2 weeks). Coming home, the biggest relief was seeing Banjo happy, healthy, and in great spirits. It was clear he’d been well cared for. Ben made sure he was fed, walked, and had plenty of playtime and attention. He also took great care of our home by bringing in the mail and keeping an eye on everything while we were gone. We will definitely be using Ben again in the future. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillandale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillandale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillandale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
