“Faith was an amazing sitter! So attentive and warm, she sent pictures and updates throughout the stay to keep me updated. Will definitely be booking with her again in the future. Thanks Faith!!”

“Josephine was very accomodating for our last minute dogsitting needs Thanksgiving weekend. She took great care of Lucy who loved playing with Roxy! We appreciate her patience and love she gave our anxious dog.”

About: I have been around animals all my life. We raised our children with dogs, cats, chickens, fish, and even butterflies! I love animals and often care for family and friends whose pets need care. I have worked in New York, Arizona, and now North Carolina caring for these precious pets! I believe deeply that these fur babies are intuitive, intelligent, and capable of giving and receiving love. I work from home so my schedule is flexible. My day revolves around the needs of the pets I care for. I manage our rentals on our property so I am always close by! The pets I care for are free to roam around and explore inside our home. We have a back deck and open backyard. We back up to a nature preserve so there are walking trails and lots of places for exercise. Our neighborhood is quiet and well established. There are many dogs walking throughout in the morning and evening with their owners!

About: I’m a dependable, caring dog sitter with hands-on experience caring for dogs in a home setting—including my own friendly Golden Retriever. I understand daily routines, feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and giving dogs the attention they need to feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. As a mom of four, I’m naturally nurturing, patient, and attentive to details. I treat every pet like part of the family and am happy to provide updates and photos for peace of mind. I’m a stay-at-home mom, so I’m home throughout the day and able to provide consistent care, attention, and supervision. I primarily offer in-home boarding, so your dog will be part of our daily routine and won’t be left alone for long periods. I’m available most weekdays and weekends with flexible scheduling to fit your needs. Your pet will be cared for in a safe, clean, and calm home environment. I have a friendly Golden Retriever who is used to being around other dogs, and I always do slow, careful introductions to ensure everyone is comfortable. I follow your dog’s routine closely, including feeding, walks, and any special instructions. Dogs in my care are treated like family, and I provide regular updates and photos so you feel at ease while you’re away.
About: I’ve had animals since I was a kid and always enjoyed taking care of them! It’s very rewarding for me. In my early 20s I was a dog trainer I’m a stay at home dad. We have a 10 and a 5 year old. I take walks throughout the day and between my wife someone is always home unless we are taking the kids somewhere. If they like the car and the park I can even take them with me! I walk a lot and am outside with my kids throughout the day. My kids love dogs so they will be showered with love and cuddles (if they enjoy that).
“Alaska seemed happy and healthy after her stay, Amanda was flexible about drop off and pick up times, and we even picked up our pupper in the middle of the week for a quick beach trip and dropped her off again! Would definitely board our dog with Amanda again.”

“I could tell how much Aspen (Mini Aussie, 4) really enjoyed his 2 night stay with Robert. Aspen was immediately comfortable around Robert and his very well behaved King Charles dogs. The yard was fantastic as it allowed for him to play 10/10”

“Jay was great watching Zoey. He provided lots of pics and updated us on her daily. At Jay's house the dogs are like family and fit right in. We will definitely be using Jay again!”

“Andrew and Erin, I’ve been the best pet sitters we could ask for! Our little multi-Pooh, Chloe, absolutely loves them, and has a great time with them! They are very communicative, kind and send lots of pictures and updates. It makes leaving her so much easier knowing that she’s having a great time while I’m gone.”

About: I’ve taken care of multiple pets for family and friends! I’ve worked previously in a dog daycare/boarding and have knowledgeable skills in caring for animals! I have experience in caring for pets of all ages and even performing some grooming services, such as baths, and nail trims. I currently work in vet med and have experience noticing any abnormalities in dog behavior or health. I currently work full-time, however I make time to make sure all pets in my care are physically exercised and mentally stimulated. Both of which are very important to me. I try to give the pets in my care a wonderful time with lots of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation! They will also receive a lot of hugs and cuddles while they are here!
“Cosette was absolutely wonderful! Great communication and she was flexible with both pick up and drop off! She sent plenty of pictures and updates, Duke was well taken care of!!”

About: You can trust me to take excellent care of your pet! As well as owning my own pets most of my life (dogs, cats, ferret, bird, rabbits, etc.), I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-veterinary medicine. I have pet-sat for several friends and clients, volunteered at shelters, worked at veterinary clinics, boarding facilities, and for a professional dog walking / cat sitting company. You can rest easy as your pet will be safe in my care. I follow directions well and get the details right! Why I love dog walking and sitting: I have been a dog lover since the day I was born. My first dog, Chief, helped raise me! Since then, I have owned a dog most of my life. Some have called me the "dog-whisperer". I have a pretty good perception of dogs and connect very easily with most. My last dog, Wendell, was a 150 lb. mastiff whom I adopted when he was 4.5 years old. He had never been socialized and was scared of most people, so in the six years we were together, I gained a lot of first-hand experience working through behavioral issues in a very large and strong breed. Our current dog is Lucy, a happy-go-lucky bull terrier who is deaf. She loves every living being! I’m also comfortable taking care of cats and other pets. My experience administering medication: I've given lots of oral meds and various ointments, eye drops, ear drops, etc. My schedule is pretty flexible. I’m typically available any day of the week and can do early mornings and late evenings if needed. Let me know your needs and I will do my best to accommodate! We have a secure, fenced yard, a doggie door, and a covered back patio with doggie beds perfect for lounging in the sun or shade. We also have a friendly bull terrier who will happily keep your dog company! We can easily keep your dog in a separate room while we are away from the house if you prefer. Lucy’s dad/my significant other, Pedro, also lives here and also loves animals.

“Hilary took such great care of our girl! Sadie has a lot of quirks and takes time to warm up and Hilary was patient and understanding. I had a lot of peace of mind while we were away on our trip knowing she was well taken care of!”

About: I love all animals but especially dogs. I’ve had dogs in my house for as long as I can remember. I know your fur baby is family and I’ll treat them like one. I am a stay at home dog grandmother and available most of the time. I do travel to see my daughter occasionally but always have plenty of advance notice. I don’t have a fenced yard but can take your pup(s) on short walks. Dogs are welcome anywhere they feel the most comfortable in my home, including couches.
“Boy did Vincent fall in love at Helena’s! I felt so at ease on my trip. I got great photos of Vincent doing all the things. He can not wait to go back I am sure.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hampstead
Gabrielle was great watching our dog, Dude! I got multiple pictures and updates throughout the day and feel like my baby was cared for as well as if he had been at home. He even slept in the bed with her and her kids (which he does at home!) Very easy to communicate with, fast to respond and an overall wonderful experience. Highly recommend and will DEF use again!

This was the first time having to leave my dog with a sitter so I was apprehensive but didn’t have a choice. Sarah was fantastic! She would provide updates and send pictures. I thought my dog adopted a new family and wouldn’t want to come home (thankfully he did)! I would certainly go back to Sarah if I needed dog sitting services again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
