“Steven and his family were absolutely amazing with my pups. We had never left them with anyone but family so we were nervous but without other options. Steven sent pictures and updates every day and the girls looked very content and relaxed and at home. Feeling very thankful to have found this family!”

“Clare is wonderful! She has such an adorable and sweet family She sent lots of pictures and updates. I couldn’t have asked for a better fit to care of our pup while we traveled.”

“Our girls love being with Kate, her husband Quinn, and her dog Lucy. We received multiple pictures of them going on long walks and runs off leash in a safe environment, zonked out on the floor of the living room after a day of play, and getting love and pets from Quinn. We feel very comfortable having our two stay with Kate and would recommend it to all.”

About: Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve cared for everything from energetic puppies and rescue dogs to senior dogs needing specialized attention, including my 16-year-old diabetic beagle who required daily medication, monitoring, and lots of extra love and patience. In my home, dogs are family. They’re welcome on the furniture, get plenty of affection, and are treated like part of the pack. Your pup will have lots of supervision, attention, potty breaks, playtime, and cuddles throughout the day. My community also has a dog park where dogs can safely run around and burn off energy. Whether your dog needs overnight care, walks, drop-in visits, or just a comfortable home away from home, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I work only part time on a flexible schedule, which means your pup will have lots of supervision, attention, potty breaks, playtime, and cuddles throughout the day. My community also has a dog park where dogs can safely run around and burn off energy. My community has a dog park where dogs can safely run around and burn off energy. Dogs are part of the family and allowed on the furniture
“Valerie provided exceptional care, great communication, and made us feel completely at ease while away. Our sweet boy was happy, well cared for, and loved the attention. We received regular updates and photos, which meant so much. Highly recommend and would absolutely book again!”

About: I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and have always enjoyed being around all kinds of pets- from cats and dogs to farm animals. Caring for animals has always come naturally to me, and I’ve dreamed of having the opportunity to spend more time with them. My husband and I moved to Wilmington about 10 years ago, and for much of that time, life kept us so busy that having a pet of our own didn’t feel fair. Since I haven’t had pets of my own during this time, I’ve happily gotten my animal fix by pet sitting for friends and caring for their cats and dogs whenever they’ve needed someone they trust. I work away from home (Registered Nurse since 2016) just one day a week, which gives me plenty of flexibility and time to give your pets the attention, companionship, walks, playtime, and love they deserve. I have a fenced in yard, a nice neighborhood for walks and no other pets to care for. I know how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pets in someone else’s care, and I’ll treat them like they’re my own.
About: My mom is a licensed vet tech for almost 45 years I have helped her take care of pets I have a 10 year old golden retriever that I have fully trained and can do tricks. My golden lives with my mom since I’m in college. I go to cape fear community college majoring in exercise science and then doctor of Physical Therapy. This gives me time to have a furry friend in while I study and keep me company! I will provide water and a safe home for your fury friend. They will be provided with treats and lots of love and constant attention when not in class.
About: Growing up we had both dogs and cats in the house. As soon as I had an apartment that allowed dogs, I adopted my sweet and sassy pup snoopy. Over the years his mobility declined and I gained insight in how to care for an elderly pup including administering shots, and oral medication. Last year my fiancé and I adopted our sweet girl Betty. She tested us as a puppy, and provided an opportunity to learn about training a dog with a different personality from my first pup. I work as an RN Monday- Thursday and my fiancé works from home Monday- Friday. We live in a first floor apartment with a walk out patio. Our complex also has a dog park and plenty of space for long walks. We are a nonsmoking home with no children; just Betty and she is very friendly with other dogs. I recently relocated to the Cary area for work, but my new job does not start until mid October! Prior to the move, I was a full time student and working on Rover. My schedule is pretty open to care for your pets! I am familiar with different harnesses and the importance of leashing dogs when out and about. My apartment has several fenced dog areas and lots of outdoor walking space!

“Jennifer was wonderful from the moment we reached out to see if she was available to watch Clark. She responded quickly, took the time to ask about his care needs, and genuinely wanted to know how she could best support him during his stay. From the very beginning, she gave us confidence that he would be in excellent hands. When we dropped Clark off, Jennifer was warm, welcoming, and made sure we felt completely at ease. She kept her promise by sending regular updates and photos throughout his stay, which gave us tremendous peace of mind. It was clear that she treated Clark like one of her own and made him feel right at home. Jennifer truly followed through on everything she said she would do, and we could tell Clark had a wonderful time with her. We highly recommend Jennifer to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable sitter who communicates exceptionally well and provides outstanding care.”

“If Parker could talk he would have nothing but good things to say about Kim and her "team" aka her kids. In every picture Kim shared with us during Parker's stay he was smiling. Better yet, he came home happy & tired. Kim's home was well outfitted for his visit and clean. Her home is close to a park and Parker enjoyed frequent visits and walks. Parker is looking forward to visiting again and I would highly recommend Kim to others.”

“Jay is amazing! He hosted our attention-needing, couch-loving golden retriever for a week — and to say our pup settled in is an understatement. Every photo Jay sent had us laughing out loud because it was obvious Gus thought he owned the house. Jay not only provided Gus with a loving home, he also gave him good walks while keeping us updated on all the happenings. We absolutely recommend Jay if you’re in the Wrightsville/Carolina Beach area and looking for a great and comfortable home for your pets!”

About: Having grown up on a farm, I have been around animals all my life. Currently, I live behind the university with my two cavaliers on a little less than an acre. My two are wonderful with other dogs and looking for some playmates. My fenced-in backyard makes for the perfect playground, and your dogs will be free to come and go as they please from inside to the fenced in area. I have boarded as many as 4 dogs at one time and have cared for senior dogs (18+). Reach out for information on boarding opportunities and/or for additional details. I am here full-time and available currently for boarding any time of the day as well as on weekends. I maintain full care of my two, so the more, the merrier! I have a fenced-in backyard that allows for safe and carefree playtime. My two dogs are very friendly and are sure to make for excellent playmates.
“Ashley and her family were AMAZING hosts to our fur baby! We received pictures and videos throughout his whole stay and we are SO grateful we found them on Rover. It’s good to know your family member is safe and loved when you’re gone. They will definitely be our go to dog watchers from now on!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Belville
We love having Rupert stay with Andrew and his family! Andrew is fantastic with communication, takes Rupert on plenty of walks, socializes him with his adorable cat Poe, and gave him his daily medications! We feel so great knowing Rupert is with a wonderful caretaker when we go out of town! We have used Andrew as a sitter multiple times and will continue to do so!

Hilary was great with Milly! She asked questions to make sure Milly was comfortable. She made sure to take her for walks and pup cups around the corner from the house. She has a sweet pup named Sunny who loved Milly and kept her company. She also had some other pups come and go so it was great for Milly to socialize. She kept us up to date and sent us pics. Would highly recommend.

Brooklin took amazing care of my cat, Lylla, while I was away. Lylla is very shy around new people, but Brooklin was incredibly patient and was able to get her to warm up, which says a lot! She went above and beyond to make sure Lylla was comfortable and cared for, even helping encourage her to eat when she wasn’t showing much interest in food. Communication was excellent throughout the entire stay. Brooklin kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing my spoiled girl was in good hands. I could tell she genuinely cared about Lylla’s well-being and treated her like her own. I would absolutely book with Brooklin again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter.

Ryan was great! Made sure our babies were taken care of, got walks, and especially lots of snuggles, and he updated me on most days with pics. This was our first time using Rover (normally board the dogs), but I will definitely come back to Ryan next time we take a trip. Thanks for taking care of our love bugs, Ryan!

Audre was wonderful! She treated my dog, Alfie, like her own. She sent many pictures and kept me updated while I was away. She even cooked him a nice dinner of brown rice and veggies, which he absolutely loved! I would absolutely trust Audre to watch my dog again whenever I need to be out of town.

So happy I found Danielle. Dakota loved her right away, and she took great care of her while I was away for a full week. Dakota hurt her paw right before her stay and had to take medicine twice a day the entire time. Danielle was a true pro and kept me informed with lots of photos and videos each day, which I loved! Danielle will hands down be our go-to sitter from now on.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
