About: Am offering neighborhood help for drop- in and dog walks only. I have been around plenty of dogs/cats and will follow care instructions for your pet. I only accept dogs that are ok being with strangers and are easy to take care of . Pay what you can - let me know and I will adjust rates
“Zack was very conscientious in meeting Trixie before our set schedule of walks. He was aware of her sniffing for food all the time and made sure to stop that behavior. We were able to be flexible with our schedule and his. I would hire him again”

“Madeline saved the day and accepted a last minute request when our usual dog walker was out of town. She was patient with our nervous pup and did a great job at making her feel comfortable!”

About: I've grown up with dogs, cats, and birds, with some experience pet sitting for friends and family. I am a quick learner with great attentinon to detail, aiming to keep all pets happy and healthy! I am currently on a gap year prior to grad school and have very open availability for the summer months. I am available on both weekdays and weekends. Safety is of the utmost importance. I always ensure that collars and leashes are secure prior to walks, and that doors are closed and locked.
About: I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, personalities and needs! I also have experience caring for felines and chinchillas! I am experienced in administering medications! I currently work from home but am available for short potty breaks in the Lombard area! Also available nights and weekends! I can also do house sitting! I have worked with people who have fenced in back yards and people who do not and utilize leads and am comfortable with either. I like to watch potty breaks, even if the yard is fenced in to making sure nothing is ingested outside!
“Louie is very particular about the company he keeps. He adores Cherri and enjoys going on walks with her. We were very grateful and very relieved that he has a new friend.🙂”

“Beth was my first Rover walker ever and I was glad to have found her! She was 100% reliable and was always keeping my pup’s best interests in mind! She always made sure to send pics/summaries of the walks which was nice. I would certainly recommend Beth to anyone searching on Rover!”

About: My wife, son and I have taken care of pets our entire lives. Currently, we have only one elderly cat with special medical needs. Recently retired, we would love to adopt a dog but our frequent travel (to visit grandchildren) makes that a challenge. That travel helps us understand the stress and anxiety of leaving a pet in the care of others. We enjoy walking and playing with dogs (and cats!) and enjoy being in our yard, which opens to a field in the back, perfect for fetch. We will fill the day with a lot of activity and attention in a safe and secure environment. We are home full time and will have plenty of opportunity for walks, play time and potty breaks. During the school year, but my wife and I are home... and in summer months, our young-adult son will help as well. We have a spacious yard but it is not fenced so we would keep your dog on a long leash while outside. At night, we can easily crate, depending on the pet-parents preferences.
About: I've had pets nearly all of my life and love all types of animals, whether domesticated pets or seeing animals while backpacking in the wilderness. I am currently working part-time and have plenty of time to visit your pets during the week. My schedule is flexible for dog walking and/or visits in your home. Pets are members of our families. Just like anyone, they deserve our trust and need to feel safe. Every pet is unique and I believe it's important to get to know each pet's personality.
“Jennifer is great with my little guy! She has helped to train him using the same directions I use, and even took him once to training class when I couldn’t make it. She has always been flexible with the schedule and my little one luvs her! She has given me some of the best pics too. I never have to worry about my dog with her taking care of him!”

“Catherine provided great service for me when I was in a bind last minute. She was very responsive, followed the instructions that I left, and most importantly was great with my dog. She also provided adorable photo updates in the walk summary of her fun time with Willow. I will definitely be booking Catherine in the future & will recommend her services to others. Thank you!!”

About: For over 25 years I have been fortunate enough to experience the joy of caring for my family's dog. In addition to dog ownership, I have provided walks and drop ins to family and friends with their own pets. My schedule is currently fairly open so I will have plenty of time to give your pet the attention they need while walking or dropping in for a visit. I care for client's pets as if they are my own. That's means I will ensure they are safe and cared for at all times during a walk or drop in visit.
About: I've taken care of cats and dogs for over 10 years for friends and family. I love animals, and bring a strong sense of care and joy to my work. I am a college student who is off for the summer, seeking gig work to pay the bills. I have a lot of free time. I treat clients with privacy and treat their homes as I would treat my own. The safety and well being of their pets is my first priority.
“Annika was great at communicating with us before the scheduled walk/play and throughout the day to let us know how our sweet pup was doing. We will surely ask her to help us again!”

About: I trained my German Shepherd, Dakota, and taught him all 25 of the tricks that he knows! I have trained and lived with that 80lb pup with behavioral issues, so I am confident even with the biggest, craziest dogs! I have a soft spot for big dogs because of Dakota, but I also grew up with 3 Chihuahua mixes and a Border Collie which cemented my love for dogs of all sizes and temperaments! During the school year, I have college classes Monday through Thursday every week, but they are spread out if I needed to let any dogs out or take them for brisk walks in between! On the weekends, I don’t ever have a strict schedule. In the summer, my availability varies moreso by week! I let the animals warm up to me first before petting, picking up, or feeding, as to keep them as comfortable as possible. I love playing with cats and dogs indoors or outdoors. I have lived in Wheaton for my entire life, so I know the Wheaton area and all of its surrounding towns very well so I can take pets on longer or shorter walks as need be!

So grateful for Alina! I was in a bind last minute and she was more than willing to help! She communicated with me the perfect amount and was patient with Caesar who can be shy at first. Incredibly happy with her professionalism and willingness to help and would highly recommend her and will absolutely book her in the future!

Clarissa provided excellent care for our senior bichpoo while we were away on our summer vacation. She is dependable, kind, bright, very responsive, and conscientious in her attention to my requests/instructions for taking care of our Butterscotch. Knowing our beloved canine family member was in excellent hands while we were away provided a calm without measure. I would highly recommend Clarissa for all of your pet care needs. 🙂

This was a last-minute booking. There was a mixup when she got here about it being a 30 or 60 minute walk I booked it for 60 she was very professional and move things around so she could walk a full 60 minutes. She was very kind and my dog Eli really seemed to like her. I had a migraine come on and got sick. I’m very grateful for her taking my booking last minute and making sure she walked a full 60 minutes. I will definitely book with her again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
