We came home to a very happy cat and a tidy home! I would highly recommend Volkan for house sitting. Our cat Luna warmed up to Volkan quickly and we really appreciated that he works from home and spent so much time with her.

Sydney was a great overnight sitter. Very flexible in terms of doing a meet and great, and very communicative about letting me know how things were going. She also treated the space very well, and cleaned/organized prior to her departure/my return. Would definitely work with Sydney again for future needs!

About: During college I spent my senior year being a service dog trainer and developed extensive knowledge of behavior modification techniques for dogs, taught dogs’ commands based on specific client needs, employed positive reinforcement with animals, including using the “clicker training” method, voice rewards, and food rewards. I’m currently transitioning between careers, so I have plenty of time and flexibility. That means I can sit, walk, play, or take your animal on potty breaks anytime. I adopted two kittens about 4 years ago and have provided them lots of play time, stimulation, wet/dry food, and a water fountain to make sure they stay hydrated.

Mindy was very kind to my cats and kept me updated throughout my trip. She was transparent about her schedule and clearly gave them lots of affection and attention while I was away. The only hiccup was that the Litter-Robot setup was a bit tricky, which caused some issues when I got home. Aside from that, everything else went smoothly, and I really appreciated how much she cared for my kitties.

About: Right now I have two bunnies at home but my family and friends always have dogs and cats around so I have a lot of experience taking care of both(also bunnies ofc), especially with elder dogs. I'm a very patient and observant person and animals usually LOVE me! I currently have a very flexible schedule, which means I can do drop-in visits anytime during the days, I would prefer dog walking in the afternoon more than the morning but that is totally negotiable! My jobs have been very communication/client based so I intend to bring that same level of care and reliability when looking after pets — making sure both you and your pet feel comfortable and at ease. I will ask you about their personalities and preferences before I meet them. I will start slow to earn their trust. Depending on whether they are energetic or shy, I can adapt to be playful or gentle with them too. During walks, I will prepare waste bags and treats if needed. I will also help clean their paws after a rainy/muddy walk. If your pets have specific toys you want me to play with them, I will make sure they have fun too!

About: I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember, even though I didn’t have pets growing up. As soon as I could, I welcomed a sweet cat into my life, and we’ve been together for 3 years. Two years later, I inherited a step dog daughter, and caring for both has taught me so much about patience, play, and the unique needs of different animals. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I promise to give them the same love, attention, and care I give my own. I’m currently working full-time but have schedule flexibility! Can swing by mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends. More than happy to accommodate whatever your furry friend needs! Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or yours, I focus on making them feel safe, loved, and comfortable. I stick closely to their usual routines — from feeding schedules to playtime and cuddle sessions — so they feel right at home. I provide fresh water, clean spaces, and plenty of enrichment, whether that’s interactive toys, gentle brushing, or quiet companionship. Most importantly, I treat every pet as if they were my own, giving them the attention and affection they deserve.

Ali was incredible! On communication before: Ali was attentive, responsive, and responds with urgency. It was easy to connect and have him come over to meet Stevie (our dog!). Prior to visiting, Ali had us fill out a google form that covered all the "must knows." I really appreciated this because a) it shows the professionalism and b) excellence is in the details! The more Ali knows about Stevie, the better care he can provide. During the visit to the house Ali noted: -Stevie's favorite treats -Toys -Spots to lounge around the apartment -Favorite activities -Neighborhood spots On communication during: Ali was sending daily updates and tons of pictures; this gave us peace of mind! Ali took Stevie to his favorite spots, recorded fetch videos, got a bunch of pictures, and the best part, Stevie was always smiling. Thank you Ali!

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was old enough to care for my pets growing up, from German Shepards to chihuahuas! I currently have 3 cats also that rely on me to feed them, and care for them! I’m currently a stay at home mom with a very open schedule! I find animals very therapeutic, so I’m looking to help take care of your pets, give them a ton of love and give me something to do while also making some extra money for my family! We do live in an apartment but it has a fenced in yard, I often walk to the park down the street with the kids so we could take your pet along with us! Our neighbor downstairs has a friendly dog who could be a play mate! I have 3 cats, I can easily crate your dog if needed. My house is a free for all if your dog is allowed on your couch then they allowed on mine too🥰

About: I’ve been walking and taking care of all pets since I was ten years old. I love them. I have a dog of my own and I would treat anyone’s as I treat my own. With love and respect and patience. I can walk your dog, do drop by visits, and stay in your home while you are away. Cat too! I’m pretty flexible. I am a dogs friend and they take to me as I them. Taking care of a pet is easy if you love doing it as much as I do. If you tell me what you need I have no doubt I would be able to help you and your lovely fur friend with whatever service. About: I’ve loved and cared for dogs since I was 10 years old. I’m now a proud dog mom to a playful 1-year-old pup! I have hands-on experience with crate training, potty pad training, and teaching basic commands. I’ve cared for puppies as young as 6 weeks and senior dogs with physical limitations, always tailoring my care to their needs. I’m available daily 7am-6 pm with the exception of a few routine 30 minute meetings. I’ll gladly work around your schedule to ensure you and your pups needs are met! I live in an apartment with a fully fenced dog area that is vacant during the day and evening. I have a year old puppy that is extremely loving and playful with other humans and fur babies! I own a car and I’m able to come to you to care for your pet in your home if that’s your preference. My car and apartment are dog safe.

Jessica took care of our labradoodle while we were out of the country for ten days over the busy winter holidays. She is extremely communicative and friendly, and sent us daily updates and photos while we were away; she was always quick to respond. Jessica stayed at our house, and left the house very clean and tidy upon our return. We knew our dog was in great hands, and felt she genuinely cares about animals. Sometimes our dog gets stressed when we are away for several days, and he didn't show any signs of anxiety. We will definitely use Jessica again!

About: Hello! I am a recent Wellesley College graduate but I come from a big family in Austin, Texas. I've looked after dogs, cats, plants, and plenty of farm animals. I adore animals and have two dogs of my own back home. I have great communication and I am willing to send regular updates and photos to give owners peace of mind. I read and respond to signals that animals give attentively so your pets will be in great hands! I am looking forward to caring for your homes and pets. I am currently looking for jobs before starting grad school in the fall. I babysit occasionally, but I am often not away for more than 3-5 hours. My home is currently being renovated so I will not be hosting any pets there at the moment. I am happy to consider in home pet care after renovations are finished.

Christina stayed with our three busy dogs for a long weekend; she gave regular updates and followed all of their weird medication, supplement, and feed protocols without a hitch. She was super flexible when our travel plans coming home were uncertain, and left our house spotless. We look forward to having her again!

Christina was kind and took good care of our home. She followed our pup’s feeding and walking instructions and kept in touch and sent photos during stay, which we appreciated! That said, we did have issues was with timing and communication. After reviewing our Ring camera after the trip, we saw that she arrived almost over an hour late for the first visit, left the pets for over 7 hours on the one full day of house sitting (though we had asked for no more than 5–6 hours max). She left at 10:38am and didn’t return until I reached out at 6pm. Additionally, left for the night at 8pm even though we had requested a final let-out after 9pm if she wasn’t staying overnight. We understand that unexpected things can come up and cause delays, but we would have appreciated transparency if that was the case, rather than only finding out through our Ring camera or after prompting with a check-in. Since this was a house sitting booking, we had expected more consistent, regular care rather than drop-in style visits. We’re grateful for her help, but in the future we’ll be looking for someone with more reliable timing and clearer communication.

Great experience with Micah! Tons of updates and pictures. She took my active pup on lots of walks including some really long ones to tire him out! All instructions were followed and the house was in perfect shape when we got back. We’ve been using Rover for 5+ years and this was the best overnight experience we’ve had so far. Highly recommend.

FAQs for House Sitting - Fort Andrews

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Fort Andrews on Rover is $99.9 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 6,223 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fort Andrews. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Andrews walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Andrews maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Andrews choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Andrews. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
