“Erin took excellent care of our dog Arthur for a long weekend. She was communicative before the stay and arrived on time. She sent texts and picture updates throughout the stay, and she left our home so neat and clean it was like no one had even stayed there. We would highly recommend Erin for her dog sitting services.”

“Ashlee was fantastic! Two of our 3 critters are a little quirky and she did a great job with all of them. Our very nervous cat even made numerous appearances which doesn’t usually happen with sitters! She was super communicative, responsive, and helped our high anxiety pug feel at ease.”

“Gail was so amazing with Beau! We were able to book her last minute which was much appreciated. She gave us updates and pictures of Beau, even a doggy report card at the end! She is a true dog lover and great sitter”

“I felt really comfortable leaving Isabella to care for my house, dog and fish. She gave updates constantly and was always quick to respond to my texts. It was an added bonus that she took great pictures of my dog!”

“Nathalia was fantastic! On time, communicative, and thorough. She made sure our very anxious dog was at ease and happy the entire time which isn’t always an easy task! She is everything you would hope for in a sitter!”

“Pam is absolutely fantastic. We have used her for years and she continues to care for Shaka with love. She is genuinely a kind and always dependable sitter. She is deeply appreciated my our family.”

“Wow!!! How lucky are we to have found Allegra!!! She is AMAZING!! Allegra stayed with our dog, Koko, at our house for three weeks while we were away on vacation. Koko is a smart and gorgeous covid rescue who is still leery of strangers and remains fearful of being given away. She is very much attached at the hip … to just us … so we were worried about how she would do with a stranger. Flash forward, there was no need to worry! Allegra connected with Koko right away… which is no small feat! Allegra gained Koko’s trust in no time. Like us, she took Koko on varied daily adventures… to cranberry bogs, beaches and state parks. Bottom line is … Koko absolutely adores Allegra and I think the feeling is mutual! Allegra is kind, respectful, conscientious, and communicative. She sent us lots of pictures documenting how much fun she and Koko were having together. Plus, she took wonderful care of our home! We arrived home to a happy dog and an immaculate house! Allegra obviously takes pride in doing a great job and we are tickled pink that she kept up our daily routines with Koko. We will definitely request Allegra in the future. She will ALWAYS be our first choice!”

“Lauren did a great job caring for my dogs and followed all instructions carefully. I was a little nervous since one of them is reactive, but she handled the situation really well. My apartment was left just as I left it, and I’d be happy to book with her again.”

“Isabelle was amazing. We can tell Mia loved being with her with all the updates, notes and photos she would send us! We are so grateful we found Isabelle and will for sure use her services whenever we go away!”

About: I used to have two dogs and a cat along with many other random animals. Have always loved pets, just not in a place to have my own at the moment but would love to help others! I work full time, but I am available at night and on the weekends to help out with your furry friends! We can work together to find a schedule that works for both of us. I live in a one bedroom apartment in a managed building. It is a very pet friendly building and has a fenced in area for dogs. We also have a grooming station.
“Raul has stayed with our cat, Flopsi, twice now. I can happily say my cat and I were comforted by the care and attention Raul showed him over both visits. Raul has a gentle, calm nature that helps put even a nervous boy like my Flops at ease. Raul also took great care of our home, keeping it clean and tidy. We’re so happy we found such a reliable, responsible sitter for Flops. We already plan to have Raul back for a longer stay during an upcoming trip.”

“We can’t say enough positive things about Volkan! Our dog Kiko spent 9 days with him, and she was the happiest we’ve seen her in our absence. Thank you so much for your care, dedication, and consistent communication. We’ll definitely be asking for your help in future!”

About: I have been in the caring business since my teenage years - babysitting my younger siblings, caring for my family dog, running a summer enrichment program for at risk youth, caring for horses at a dude ranch and a western suburbs farm, minding many friends' dogs, and wrangling my own two senior dogs - brother and sister, now 14 years old. (But, so rambunctious for their first 10+ years). I love dogs and will care for your dog just as you would. One of my dogs is now blind and the other requires daily subcutaneous fluids so I am willing and able to help out with any of your pet's special needs as well..... I know how stressful it can be to ensure a routine is kept. Pet first aid and CPR certified. I am currently on a full time job hunt in marketing analytics and very available (with notice) to care for your dogs most days and evenings as I can search and do freelance work remotely. Depending on your dog's needs I can usually provide bathroom breaks every 4 hours in between errands, etc. My calendar will be updated to show days I plan to be away. At this time, I can care for pets in my client's home. I do need to bring my dogs for the overnight portion of the stay but will keep them separate in a room/space of your choosing during the evening (and on bedroom floor at night). They are very dog friendly just very sleepy and do well snoozing someplace quiet.

About: Treat Others the Way You Would Like To Be Treated, and that includes animals. I have always been an animal lover since I was a child. Spending my time helping out in animal shelters every opportunity I had, watching over and caring for the dogs, cats, rodents and reptiles of my friends, my friends families, my family and my own animals. I’ve walked, house sat and fostered many animals. I am a firm believer that animals are incredibly intelligent and if you give respect, you receive respect. I work in Dog Hiking. I work with a variety of breeds and personalities. I am also volunteering under a recovery dog training organization where I’m learning a variety of dog training skills. My availability has recently opened up. I am in a position to go forward with the next steps in my life and begin building connections in a new area. I work certain hours a week and now will be scheduling my outside commitments based on whatever dog walking and sitting routine I create. Every pet is different and has different needs. I personally create a schedule for each animal starting with their name, timing how to meet their own personal needs, whether it’s exercise, socializing, eating habits, medications etc. I show up on time and I am there for them, that is how I do my job because I care.
About: Hi, I'm D'Mitri - bookish plant dad and Legal Analyst seeking to foray into pet care as a fun and enriching side gig. I'm originally from New Mexico, where I grew up on four acres with a horse and three dogs. Since then, I have pet sat occasionally for friends and family but would love for it to be a larger part of my life. My partner adopted a sweet Cur, Auggie, (40lb) last summer who lives with us FT. He is mild-mannered, adores other dogs and receives regular socialization at both daycare 2x/wk and daily at the on-site fenced dog park and many green spaces on the premises. My preference is for small to medium sized dogs but do have the stature and experience to manage larger breeds as well. All ages welcome! We live in Dorchester (Columbia Point) with my boyfriend of nine years in a complex along on the Harbor Walk. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you! I WFH and the nature is my work is largely project-based, which affords me a lot of flexibility. On the average day, I wake at 6 and am in bed by 10:30. My partner and I live in a standard 1BR but our apartment complex is unique for the abundance of green space it offers - and even a dog park. Just right outside our front door is a huge lawn where others can often be spotted exercising their pets. I am also open to caring for your pets in the comfort of your own home! Rest assured that they will be cared for to your exact specifications and with lots of love.
About: I have been around dogs and other pets my whole life! I grew up with Rottweilers and my family currently has Bernese mountain dogs and boxers so I understand the energy that fuels these big babies. I have experience with cats along with other animals ranging from farm to reptile. I have changed dog diapers, administered medications, and have provided care from puppy to senior. My current life does not allow for a dog and I just have so much puppy love to give! I’m a teacher on summer break who also does not have much of a social life. I am very flexible currently and can fit with your schedule! I’m comfortable with what you are comfortable with! I have administered meds, changed dog diapers, and understand the importance of a watchful eye (my family dog will eat poop if she could).

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Allerton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Allerton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Allerton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Allerton. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
