About: Fun fact: I began dog walking/sitting at just the age of 15 in Los Angeles, where I’m originally from. The old school way: pinning flyers around my neighborhood. My first client: a Great Dane as big as me. We soon became best friends. I am attentive and adapt easily to all sorts of pets — I know when it’s time to play, time to eat, and time to mellow out. I ensure all fur babies never feel like they are alone ~ In some way, we exchange. Whether it be through conversation, music, toy time, cuddles, and more. One of my proudest moments: An extremely shy black cat who rarely allows to be touched, laid on my tummy and napped for a couple of hours, at the third sitting call. I’m currently transitioning jobs (completely remote) and have ample free time to tap into all of my side gigs. Essentially, I am super flexible at this point in time. I, naturally, am active and will take long walks daily - and I’m sure your dog does too! If your dog enjoys running, we can do that together as well! As for cats, I love cuddles and purrs - my touch is soft, and I know cat play. I am naturally very observant and detail-oriented - meaning I will adapt according to your fur baby’s comfort level, preferences, and passions. Should your pet require a smaller, enclosed space, I will pick up on that! I am attentive to needs and ensuring water is filled up, and bellies are full when the time comes. I am also aware of keeping things out of reach when I am not around.
“Kate took excellent care of my Boston Terrier while I was out of town for a few days. He's a small dog but he had a blast with her other dogs and made sure to send me updates/pics. I was a little nervous because this was the first time I was leaving my dog with a new sitter but he settled in and had a great time!”

“Our pets (dog, cat and fish) were very well taken care of by Chris while we were away for over a week. Chris asked lots of detailed questions, sent regular updates, and even got to pet our very shy kitty, who is terrified of strangers. Everyone was very happy and healthy upon our return. We will definitely book with Chris again.”

“Christel went above and beyond! She took care of my cat as if she were my own, and always sent updates and photos and was responsive, which helped with my anxiety as a first-time user of Rover. I was very pleased with how much attention my Mina had while I was away.”

“We came home from a four-day trip to a happy, healthy dog who received Rose's excellent care. She was equally gracious about caring for our house, even our ailing basil plant. And her pet photography gave us the best photos we've had of our dog in a long time. She's also a joy to be around. We would give her ten stars if we could.”

“Maddy was wonderful with Reesi! She took such great care of our dog and showed her so much love. I couldn’t have been happier when I returned from a long weekend away. Maddy’s communication was excellent and gave me peace of mind the entire time. I will definitely use Maddy again and will happily recommend her to our friends.”

About: I’ve loved and cared for dogs my whole life—from my childhood golden retriever, to my first mini poodle in college, and now my French bulldog puppy. Having a Frenchie has taught me how to care for dogs with sensitive stomachs, skin allergies, and special needs. I cook fresh, balanced meals with real protein and veggies for every meal, and I treat every pup like my own—gentle, patient, and a little spoiled. Whether it’s walks, cuddles, or home-cooked meals, I make sure each dog feels safe, loved, and completely at home. I’m an MBA student at Cornell and have classes about three times a week from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 1pm. My boyfriend is home during the day until I return in the afternoon, so there’s always someone available to care for and walk the pups. We’re both huge dog lovers and spend most weekends at home since I usually have assignments to work on — which means plenty of time for cuddles, walks, and playtime with your furry family member. Your pup’s comfort and safety are my top priorities. I have a French bulldog with sensitive skin and allergies, so I’m extremely careful about hygiene, food, and playtime routines. I also have a bit of OCD when it comes to cleaning — my home is spotless, sanitized daily, and always pet-safe. Every pup has their own cozy, comfortable space to relax, and I can easily follow any feeding or medication instructions. Whether your dog needs fresh meals, extra attention, or a calm environment, they’ll be cared for with the same love and detail I give my own.

“Graeme was awesome! Bubba was well cared for, our house was clean when he left. His communication was excellent and we felt very comfortable leaving our dog and house in his care. We will definitely be using him again!”

About: Hello! Growing up my family always had dogs and my favorite thing to do is brush them. I’ve been dog sitting consistently since high school. I have experience with large reactive dogs, so whether you have an angel or a problem child Ive got plenty of love and patience for them:) I have one kitty at home and no dogs. I tried walking the cat but she’s determined to stay indoors so here I am! I’m happily self employed! That means my schedule can be whatever it needs to be. No time is off limits. But I do have a special place in my heart for morning walks because they start my day on the right foot. I will follow your instructions to a T! Nobody knows your pet better than you do, so to keep them happy and safe I will defer to your instructions.
“Emma took great care of our dog and was excellent about communicating about concerns or questions. He was a little nervous at first, and she worked patiently to earn his trust. Highly recommend!”

The people and dogs in my house were so happy that Sawyer was able to come again to care for the dogs, staying a few nights. They were well taken care of, the photos of them smiling were welcome, and the house was spotless when I got home. I highly recommend Sawyer!

Rachel was wonderful. Took such good care of our babies and was very communicative throughout the time she was watching our dogs. I am over the moon to have found Rachel because I can tell she truly she cares about what she does and treats them like they were hers.

Joey K was AMAZING with my super anxious puppy mill pup. She gave her lots of love and attention, and kept her calm too. Joey adjusted the house and routine so that it made Blanche comfy while were away. My pets all love Joey, and we can wait to have Joey back:)

If you are looking for an experienced, responsible, and loving pet sitter for your fur babies, Claudia is for you! Claudia has a true love for all animals, and was so loving and gentle with our senior rescue dog Remi. Claudia initiated photo, video and text updates of Remi throughout her nine day stay at our home; not only was Remi well taken care of, but she was having fun! We will definitely be booking Claudia again.🥰

We were all so happy that YoungEun was available for another sit with Roscoe and Midge. She is awesome -- thoughtful, trustworthy, and takes such good care with the dogs and the house. My dogs love their walks, and I know when YoungEun is here, they will get the interesting, longer walks they enjoy. With water breaks and great photos! I highly and unreservedly recommend YoungEun.

Riya did an excellent job caring for our 2 year old toy poodle while we are out on vacation as a house sitter. She fed him, walked him and made sure to send us a daily update with pictures on his activities - giving us the peace of mind he was safe and cared for while we were away from our little boy. We will be sure to use Riya’s services again the next time we need to travel and need someone to watch Wilkie at home.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in East Ithaca on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Ithaca walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Ithaca maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Ithaca choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
