“We only had 22-month-old Addie less than two weeks, when we unexpectedly had to go out of town. We were concerned about leaving her so soon, but after meeting Marcella, we were no longer apprehensive. Marcella is wonderful, as is her sweet dog, Caesar! Addie stayed with Marcella for two days and two nights, and did well, had fun with the other dogs, and enjoyed the fenced backyard. If we had any lingering doubts (of which we had none), they would have been chased away by the photos and videos of Addie in action, that Marcella sent each day. It’s obvious that Marcella is a caring person who loves animals. We definitely will be leaving Addie in her care again.”

“Barbara was very easy to work with and took great care of my fur baby while I was away. I especially liked that she welcomed us in her home. She was not afraid to show her home and where my dog would be, and eased any worry I may have had. We will definitely use her again.”

“I am sooooo happy that I found Ashley! She's amazing with Gracie and I am fully at ease while traveling knowing that she is being well taken care of. She keeps me updated daily and I so appreciate that she does it without me having to ask. Ashley is now my go-to sitter!!”

“This Tiko’s second time staying with Yousef and we couldn’t be happier, they are communicative and always send pics. Tiko is always happy when he returns and there is little to no anxiety. I can tell that he truly enjoys his time there!”

“Dana was great with our 2 older but very active pitties. We're always a bit worried with a new sitter but she went above and beyond to make us (and them) feel comfortable and relaxed while we were gone. They loved being around her kids too which is a plus since they rarely get to play with kids anymore. We'll definitely use her again!”

“Bria was AMAZING with my little pup. She took excellent care for him while I was on a trip. I received timely updates with pictures about how he was doing. He was happy with her and really took to her. She has an excellent spirited personality which I'm sure makes pups like her so much. I would definitely trust her with my precious pup again and I highly recommend her. She was also flexible with my drop off and pick up time.”

“Nicholas was super awesome. My dog took to him right away and Nicholas was just superb with Po. He was very good about sending pictures and just never once made me feel like I was missing anything. I would highly recommend Nicholas and will use him in the future for sure”

“Tiffany is a kind, responsible, and very thoughtful sitter. Great communication before and during the stay. I appreciate the lengths she went to in order to ensure that my pups were taken care of. Truly went above and beyond!”

“Christine, Paul and their boys took wonderful care of my anxious little chihuahua! They welcomed her with open hearts and were attentive to her needs, including some oral medication. I received regular updates and pics, and knew that Frida was not only being cared for, but being well-loved while I had to be away. It is hard to leave our pups, but after meeting with them, reviewing all of Frida's info and hearing their smart questions, I was deeply reassured. Frida and I both had a great experience and highly recommend them as sitters (unless you want them the same date that we do, then, please find someone else!)”

“This is Koda second visit with Donna and Brian. I appreciate the care and attention provided. Koda seems to be happy during his visit. I look forward to scheduling another visit during my next trip!”

“Sabrina was literally a God send. We were in an emergency situation and Sabrina stepped in immediately. She loved on our babies and accommodated them like they were her own. I think we found our forever Rover sitter.”

“Sari was amazing. My female Chow, Emma, is typically very shy around people. Sari was able to get her to warm up in no time. And both Horatio and Emma loved having their "TV" (watching the chickens and ducks!). They came home happy and even better groomed than when I dropped them off. Hoping that Sari will have the chows over again soon. They love their time at "camp."”

“Nichole was great! We were nervous about leaving Iris with someone new, but by the end of the trip I was worried she wouldn't want to come home! Nichole sent pictures and updates regularly and took great care of Iris. Highly recommend her!”

About: I’ve loved and worked with animals all my life. I graduated from animal behavioral college college as a certified vet assistant. I’ve worked at animal shelters and veterinary offices. I’ve owned cats and dogs. I work from home so they’re not alone. I want a pet but can’t commit at the moment. So this is the perfect job for me as an animal lover. I get all the hugs and kisses I want. And your pet gets a new best friend. Again, the way will be spoiled. Sorry in advance! I handle all animals with care and respect. I am a certified vat assistant and trained on behaviors, emergencies, and medication administration. They’re in good hands.
About: Hi! I’m Julia 😊☀️ For as long as I can remember, I’ve been surrounded by dogs. Growing up, I had all kinds—from dachshunds and pit bulls to Australian Shepherds and lovable mutts—and I’ve fallen in love with each and every one. I’ve previously worked at a veterinary hospital as well as a pet boarding facility, gaining hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds and temperaments. I’m now a stay-at-home mom to two beautiful, animal-loving girls who may occasionally join me. I truly believe dogs are best friends and should be treated as such. You can trust that I will care for your dog as if they were my own. I’m at home every day with my two daughters so I have a wide open schedule. I took a 3 year break from rover to raise my babies and now I’m looking to get back to dog walking! I have a lot of availability and love to be outdoors- rain or shine. I live on a 6 acre farm that has some areas fenced and lots of room for my 2 dogs to run and explore. I love to let any dogs that I watch get out some energy by running and getting to sniff & explore everything in sight.
“Sharon was great with our dog, Miles. He felt very comfortable in her home and she took great care of him. She was very quick with communication and sent pictures of him while we were away! Miles would love to stay with her again!”

“Brittany and Shane were great sitters for our dog Rowan! They sent daily updates with photos and treated him like one of their own dogs. Rowan seemed to get along and enjoy playing with their dogs too! They have a large fenced in backyard and plenty of space for the dogs to play. We know Rowan is excited to go back to stay with Brittany and Shane again!”

“I had a wonderful experience with Tanya while she cared for my 14 year old yorkie, Buttons. She was extremely attentive to Buttons and his individual needs, and it was clear she was committed to helping him feel comfortable and acclimated to a new environment. She kept me informed every four hours or so with updates, which truly gave me peace of mind and made me feel completely comfortable leaving Buttons in her care. I’m so grateful for the care and attention she provided, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.”

Yukia took FABULOUS care of my Rottiegirl. She was friendly, courteous, organized, clear about asking questions and observing my dog - which shows me she wants all to be safe. Very much on time, sent pics and communications! My dog was very well cared for and I SO appreciate it. Thank you Yukia, will definitely book with her again for quality care.

Tom & Aimee took great care of our dog, communicated well, and sent pictures. We felt assured that our dog was safe and happy with a sweet family while we were away. Their neighborhood was lovely and their backyard was fenced and a great place for a dog to run around. We would use them again!

Winona was excellent with our cat Meow! She shared updates every day, including lots of pictures, to keep us in the know. She was able to give the medicine Meow needs, which is not easy, and she made Meow feel at home. She even cleaned the litter box for us at the end of the week, which is far above and beyond our expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
