“We asked Maura to stay with one of our dogs in our house for 5 days, and things went great! She sent updates when we checked in, and also on her own. We told her this was our first time using Rover, or any service like this, and she was really helpful with our few questions. Jameson is new to our household, so she provided great feedback when we got back home. She was great with Jameson, and we'd absolutely reach back out to her again! Also, she brought in out HelloFresh box and put it in the fridge - above and beyond!”

“Jeannie is the best! My animals loved her right away. Percy is a Senior and it’s always stressful for me to leave him with new people but Jeannie but those fears at ease right away talking about her own senior that had passed, with all the love she poured into her dog I knew my Percy would be safe! Mister loved her and Princess was her cuddle buddy (eventually, she does take a while to warm up but basically first day was cuddling!) I would definitely use her again and plan on rebooking whenever my next trip is!”

“Brad was excellent! He sent photos everyday. The house looks the same as we left it, maybe even better. He handled giving my dog oral medications well. He also helped coordinate a dog door installation which was unexpected. I would highly recommend Brad for your house sitting needs as the dogs were well cared for and safe.”

“Helen was absolutely amazing! She and Axel instantly bombed from the moment she met him! He has a very strong and funny personality and took to her right off. She kept the house very clean and left it the way she found it. She provided photos and updates all the time. I could not ask for a better sitter for Axel! Will definitely be using her again!!”

“My new go-to dog sitter. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences on Rover, especially having a 70 pound highly anxious lab which most people can’t handle or are afraid of. Safe to say I was little anxious leaving them (lab + two cats) alone for a few days on break, however, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Hes basically with the babies 24/7 which is exactly what I needed. He’s flexible which helps if you don’t have a steady schedule. Overall a positive experience and will be booking with him again. All my babies were in good hands and it honestly seem like they didn’t miss me very much lol.”

“Nancy is amazing. My two pups adore Nancy. Nancy stayed with my pups for 5 days and everything and everyone was wonderful when we arrived back home. Nancy sent apictures every day along with a synopsis of their day.”

“Jen is a fantastic and reliable friend to our fur-kid Gromit. She is always very responsive, even last minute, and reliable. We know Gromit loves her and enjoys his time out and about with her. Her attention to care and updating us on how he is doing via texts and photos is wonderful and we recommend her 100%!”

“First time using a dog sitter and I couldn’t be happier with Madison. It was only a couple of days but I was still concerned about leaving him but he came home a very happy dog. Will definitely contact Madison again in the future.”

“I love how much Lisa loved my pups! From the moment she walked in the door I could sense her kindness and gentleness for my lively guys. She is very communicative and flexible as well. Kudos to her as well for leaving the house in the same if not better condition than when I left! Thank You!”

“Alex took care of my dogs amazingly!! He was very attentive and followed instructions to the tee. I loved how he sent me daily updates, photos, and brought any concerns that he had with the pups to my attention. I highly recommend him and will definately use him in the future. He cared for my pups as if they were his own and that made me very happy! He truly loved on and played with my pups when I wasn't there to do so myself. Thank you Alex!!!!”

“Allie house sat for a week & took care of our 4 cats, salt water reef fish tank & fresh water fish tank. She did a great job. Followed the long list of instructions perfectly. The cats warmed up to her quickly. Very responsible & smart. No issues at all. Highly recommend.”

About: Growing up I have had dogs and always been around dogs. I recently had to put my dog down but she was epileptic and needed a lot of love and care so I am use to that as well. I love to see the smiles and tail wiggles! Being self-employed gives me the flexibility to spend lots of quality time with your fur babies, ensuring they receive consistent care, love, and companionship while you're away. I know how important pets are—they're family. I'll make sure they stick to their normal routine, get plenty of attention, and I'll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax while you're away.
“We couldn’t be happier with Jaime! She was absolutely amazing. Our dogs, Luna and Norman, adored her from the start, and it was clear they were well-loved and well-cared for while we were away. We came home to a spotless house — she even picked up the dog poop in the yard and washed the sheets she used, which went above and beyond our expectations. We will definitely be using Jaime again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and caring sitter!”

“Mary did an awesome job! Pets seems happy - Mary sent tons of wonderful pictures - house is in great shape - she even took down the bins on trash day! Thank you so much, Mary!”

“Heather watched my condo and senior pup, Rusty, overnight for 4 days. Rusty is 13, has a heart murmur, is blind in one eye and has very limited sight out of the other eye. A few days before our planned trip my Rusty’s heart murmur increased to a grade 5 and he went on heart medication twice per day. Heather watched over him and kept a very detailed care diary for me since it was his first week on the medication. She was very communicative and sent lots of photos throughout their time together. Heather really put me at ease and gave me peace of mind leaving Rusty for a few days after some medical changes. Rusty really seemed at ease with her. I cannot sing her praises enough. I will definitely book with her again.”

Jeannie is the best! My animals loved her right away. Percy is a Senior and it’s always stressful for me to leave him with new people but Jeannie but those fears at ease right away talking about her own senior that had passed, with all the love she poured into her dog I knew my Percy would be safe! Crystal was phenomenal!! It was our first time leaving our youngest pup for a trip but she exceeded all expectations. They’re so sweet but just a little crazy, and she handled all of it very well. She sent pictures throughout our time away and was lovely to meet in person as well. This was our first time using rover and essentially having a stranger stay in our home, so I was initially nervous, but I would absolutely hire her again.

McCauley is the absolute best dog sitter!! She takes such good care of my little guy and goes above and beyond. For his birthday, she made him a little treat and even sang to him!!! She sends me so many updates and silly pictures of Henry so I am never worried if he is okay. You can’t get a better sitter than her!!!

Bridget was the absolute best we could have asked for to help take care of our two dogs with our first experience using Rover. She was so prompt to respond and set up a meet and greet. We left for our trip feeling very comfortable and confident the dogs were in good hands. She sent us loads of photos and updates each day and our dogs sure had a blast! I would HIGHLY recommend her for anyone in the Huntersville-Cornelius-Mooresville area.

Outstanding! Kept me informed with text and pictures. Also, as requested, took Stella to the dog park when weather permitted. Just as I was leaving for the airport, I remembered Stella was due for her heart worm/flea/tic tablets. To my embarrassment I found I had none. Brendan took charge, pick up the tablets, gave one to Stella and made sure she ate it all. You can be confident your pets will be well taken care of by Brendan.

Lauren was the perfect pet sitter and house guest. She was responsive and even came by for a meet and greet before coming to stay during our vacation. Our senior dog requires daily medication and Lauren was comfortable administering. We came home to a very happy pup and a clean house. Will definitely look forward to reaching out to Lauren again when we go out of time. Thanks again, Lauren!

Nicole did an amazing job watching our pups while we were away for a week. She kept us updated with lots of photos and videos of our babies, which gave us so much peace of mind. She even managed to train our ravenous eater to sit and wait patiently for his food! We highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for someone who will treat their pups with extra special care. We will absolutely use her again whenever we can’t take our fur babies with us.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cornelius walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cornelius maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cornelius choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
