“Brad did a great job staying with our dog in our home. She is very new to our family (adopted < 2 weeks ago), so we were a little nervous leaving her overnight. Brad came in with confidence, brought all of his own supplies for his stay, and was great about sending us pictures to help us know Josie was doing just fine while we were away. He is a real pro at this!”

“Jeannie is the best! My animals loved her right away. Percy is a Senior and it’s always stressful for me to leave him with new people but Jeannie but those fears at ease right away talking about her own senior that had passed, with all the love she poured into her dog I knew my Percy would be safe! Mister loved her and Princess was her cuddle buddy (eventually, she does take a while to warm up but basically first day was cuddling!) I would definitely use her again and plan on rebooking whenever my next trip is!”

“Alex took care of my dogs amazingly!! He was very attentive and followed instructions to the tee. I loved how he sent me daily updates, photos, and brought any concerns that he had with the pups to my attention. I highly recommend him and will definately use him in the future. He cared for my pups as if they were his own and that made me very happy! He truly loved on and played with my pups when I wasn't there to do so myself. Thank you Alex!!!!”

“Megan was absolutely wonderful! She took great care of our two dogs and cat. Even with an energetic puppy and nightly meds for the cat, everything went smoothly. It was almost like they didn’t miss us 🙂 We’d gladly have her stay with our fur babies again.”

“My new go-to dog sitter. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences on Rover, especially having a 70 pound highly anxious lab which most people can’t handle or are afraid of. Safe to say I was little anxious leaving them (lab + two cats) alone for a few days on break, however, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Hes basically with the babies 24/7 which is exactly what I needed. He’s flexible which helps if you don’t have a steady schedule. Overall a positive experience and will be booking with him again. All my babies were in good hands and it honestly seem like they didn’t miss me very much lol.”

“Lisa was fantastic! She was so nice and friendly during the meet and greet and before the stay. She took such good care of the dogs and our home! She sent daily photos and was always quick to reply. We will absolutely book Lisa again and highly recommend her!”

“Heather is amazing! She took great care of my two dogs- one with dementia/anxiety who needs extra love. She followed the dogs normal schedules, administered medications, and exercised their bodies and brains. She also left the house very clean. It was so nice to come home to calm dogs and a clean house! Thank you Heather!”

“Ethan was absolutely amazing with our anxious English Bulldog for overnight dog sitting! He took the time (and multiple visits) for George to become totally comfortable! He was excellent and very knowledgeable about dogs and their personality quirks! 10/10 will be booking him again!”

“Amanda did a great job. Followed directions and asked good question at the initial meet. Regular updates and pups looked happy and relaxed when I returned. I’ll definitely have her back.”

“Savannah did a great job caring for my dog. She was very responsive and kept me updated frequently with messages and pictures. I will definitely book with her again.”

“Lillian did an awesome job watching Scarlett over the weekend. Scarlett can be pretty anxious and high energy, so I’m always a little cautious leaving her with someone new, but she took to Lillian right away, which says a lot. Lillian was very responsive the entire time and clearly put in the effort to work with Scarlett, not just watch her. That meant a lot to me knowing she was in good hands while I was away. Would definitely recommend her and will be reaching out again in the future.”

“Jen is a fantastic and reliable friend to our fur-kid Gromit. She is always very responsive, even last minute, and reliable. We know Gromit loves her and enjoys his time out and about with her. Her attention to care and updating us on how he is doing via texts and photos is wonderful and we recommend her 100%!”

“Sage was wonderful with our pets. We booked her to house sit and stay with our two dogs and two cats. She was very responsive while we were away and kept us up to date on our pets and how they were doing. We definitely recommend her and will use her again.”

Jeannie is the best! My animals loved her right away. Percy is a Senior and it’s always stressful for me to leave him with new people but Jeannie but those fears at ease right away talking about her own senior that had passed, with all the love she poured into her dog I knew my Percy would be safe! Crystal was phenomenal!! It was our first time leaving our youngest pup for a trip but she exceeded all expectations. They’re so sweet but just a little crazy, and she handled all of it very well. She sent pictures throughout our time away and was lovely to meet in person as well. This was our first time using rover and essentially having a stranger stay in our home, so I was initially nervous, but I would absolutely hire her again.

Bridget was the absolute best we could have asked for to help take care of our two dogs with our first experience using Rover. She was so prompt to respond and set up a meet and greet. We left for our trip feeling very comfortable and confident the dogs were in good hands. She sent us loads of photos and updates each day and our dogs sure had a blast! I would HIGHLY recommend her for anyone in the Huntersville-Cornelius-Mooresville area.

Sam Assemgul was excellent! She performed all expected tasks as requested in a professional manner. Sam treated my dog with good care and love. She also sent me daily text updates and photos/movies which made the 13 day separation doable without worry. Thus, without reservation, I highly recommend Sam as an inhouse, long term dog sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hopewell walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hopewell maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hopewell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hopewell. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
