“Brad did well with both of our dogs from the start. Our bigger dog can be a bit anxious when strangers come into the house and Brad let her sniff him and get used to him before he tried to interact with her. He sent us several pictures throughout the week and when we returned the house was just as we had left it—-or better! We will definitely try to book Brad again when the need arises.”

“Amanda was awesome. She took very good care of our dog and cat while we were away on our cruise. The animals were happy, the house was clean and we never had to worry throughout our whole trip.”

“Brendan stayed at our house for 3 nights & took very good care of our dog Archie. When I arrived home Archie was calm & happy - always a sign that he was well cared for in our absence.”

About: Just a country girl who's helped care for everything from livestock, household pets, to feathered friends! I'm looking forward to meeting your pet! I currently work full time and have one day off during the week & weekend free. I'm free in the evenings after 5:30 on the week days. I care for every pet as if they were my own. I focus on keeping their routine as consistent as possible. I'll provide plenty of love, attention, playtime, fresh food and water, potty breaks, walks (if needed), and a safe, clean environment. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I'm happy to follow detailed care instructions, administer basic medications if needed, and send regular photo updates so you can feel confident while you're away.
“We couldn’t be happier with Jaime! She was absolutely amazing. Our dogs, Luna and Norman, adored her from the start, and it was clear they were well-loved and well-cared for while we were away. We came home to a spotless house — she even picked up the dog poop in the yard and washed the sheets she used, which went above and beyond our expectations. We will definitely be using Jaime again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and caring sitter!”

“Having Isabella at our house was such a huge relief. We were gone for a week and she sent lots of pictures of our dogs and stayed in contact with me the whole week. It provided such a peace of mind knowing our dogs and our home were well cared for so we could enjoy our family vacation! I will absolutely book her again in the future!”

“Lisa was absolutely wonderful. She took care of our three dogs. I got picture updates of them being loved on and cuddled. I even came home to fresh sheets and she tidied up the yard. Very much appreciated. Thank you! The dogs can’t wait to have you back.”

“Desiree did a great job taking care of our Zoye for us for the days we wore gone ! She sand us pictures and updates on Zoye! Zoye looks happy and healthy! Desiree did a great job! We are so thankful!”

“First time using a dog sitter and I couldn’t be happier with Madison. It was only a couple of days but I was still concerned about leaving him but he came home a very happy dog. Will definitely contact Madison again in the future.”

About: What sets me apart from other pet sitters is my natural ability to understand a dog’s demeanor and adapt to each dog’s individual personality and needs. As a dog owner myself, I have hands-on experience caring for and training two dogs. I successfully potty-trained both of my dogs and taught them a variety of tricks, commands, and skills. My patience, attentiveness, and ability to build trust with animals allow me to provide personalized, compassionate care for every dog I look after. Currently I am in school part time so I have plenty of time to play with pups and give them a happy, healthy, fun day away from their family. I have two friendly pups Oreo and Ozzie that loves all animals and caring for our pups is an important responsibility because they depend on us for their health, safety, and happiness. Dogs provide unconditional love and companionship, so they deserve to be treated with the same kindness and care they give to us. That’s how I care for all animals. I truly am a lover of all pets.
About: I have watched a friend’s mature dog in her home while a family member was hospitalized. I have always had rescue animals in my home it is always been a priority for me to love animals and treat them with the respect that is so well-deserved. I have two rescue kitties that I care for every day. I am semi retired, spend special time with my fur babies and exercise every day. I would like to rescue a dog, but if I could spend time and love other people's pets, it would be a very rewarding experience. Since I have two kitties, I prefer to care for pets in the clients homes. My one kitty is 16 years old and I don’t want to subject her to change an environment. Every morning, I am greeted by my kitties, before eating breakfast I give them their morning treats. After exercising in the afternoon, it is dinner time for them so I feed them, they nap and then we bond later in the evening, while one sits near me and the other one sits on my lap. Having cared for several dogs in the past, I take them for walks, engage in playtime and take time to bond. At one point in my lifetime I had three rescue dogs who all got along famously. They were an extension of my family and sadly, eventually passed from old age. I will love your dogs in the same way and treat them with kindness and respect. Their comfort and security are my main concern, along with your peace of mind, knowing that they are safe and secure.
“Christine has been an absolute lifesaver! She's incredibly reliable, and my dog Toto loves her. I'm able to be at work without any worries knowing that Toto is in such good hands. Christine goes above and beyond every time, and I will definitely continue booking her. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic dog sitter!”

“Alonna was great! Very responsive, good communication and took really good care of my Great Dane, Ozzy! She left my apartment in perfect condition. Will definitely book again! I highly recommend her.”

“A+ experience! This was our second time using Heather, and once again she took wonderful care of our Rosie. We loved the updates and had complete peace of mind while we were away. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommend!”

“Jada is not only a wonderful sitter, but a gem of a person. She was so patient, attentive, and sweet to our 16 year old pup, Missy. Missy is a spunky but wobbly senior with dementia and so we were a little anxious about how she’d do with a new sitter. Jada was so patient with her and kept us updated with pictures & videos. Truly no one better to watch your pet!!”

“When I returned from my long weekend away, my cat babies were content and seemed relaxed. Emilie was attentive to their needs and left the house as good as when she arrived! I appreciated all the photos and daily communications. I highly recommend Emilie.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Westport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Westport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Westport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
