“Jack is a finicky pup -- that's the chow in him. However, when we picked him up he was happy and healthy -- thanks to Pam and their wonderful home. Definitely will book another stay. He's 9 years old, and it's good to know he is well cared for.”
“Michele and her wonderful daughter took such good care of my little one. They sent pictures daily to show she was doing well and she was available for questions. It put me at ease knowing my sweet dog was safe and loved while I was away!”

“Best dog sitter EVER!!! Rebecca started sending photos of LuLu within minutes of us dropping her off, and she continued sending pictures during the entire pet sit. We could see that LuLu was being well cared for and was getting loads of attention. I don't think Rebecca was able to get anything done for herself because she devoted so much time to LuLu! LuLu gets separation anxiety, but I don't have to worry about that now that I've found Rebecca. LuLu gets to have a vacation at Auntie Rebecca's place while we are having our vacation. We all have fun! Rebecca is responsible and attentive to every detail. She lives in a safe neighborhood and has a fully fenced yard. She never leaves LuLu unattended in the yard, and they spend hours outside every day. She spoiled her with attention, not food, which is important to me. I can't recommend Rebecca highly enough! If she is available when you need a dog sitter, do not hesitate to book with Rebecca.”

“Kevin is very knowledgeable about dogs and was very patient with my American bulldog “Goose”. It was his first time being away from home and was scared and was being aggressive. Kevin worked with him and made him feel comfortable and part of the family. I feel 1000% comfortable leaving my dog in his care.”

“Meeting Gretchen I knew right away she was willing and committed to taking care of our Daisy Lucille as we are!!! Daisy is 9 years old and has medications to take for CCL injuries that require her to be on a leash for potty breaks and being outside and can take short walks. She kept us informed of their days and shared everything Daisy did in her care. We are so lucky to have her help and so convenient where we live.”

“Nikko loves it here, Ashley is so attentive and loving my boy loves her home and family. She makes leaving my fur baby much easier when we have to ! We have used her twice now and wouldn’t send him anywhere else!”

“Shawn was wonderful! She kept me updated throughout the entire stay. My pups were very comfortable and happy during their stay. I would choose Shawn every time to watch my pups, they had an amazing time! I didn’t have to worry about my dogs once while they were in Shawn’s care!”

“Richard could not have been nicer and my dogs seem to have enjoyed their stay! I was worried about my 15 month old English bulldog pouting the entire time, but Richard won her over. The location is wonderfully located high above the daily humdrum. If your pets are used to country living, they will thoroughly enjoy a stay here! I highly recommend and will be using for future needs.”

“Selena was awesome! I’m a first time dog mom and had a lot of nerves and concerns leaving my pup anywhere. Selena made me feel very comfortable and sent me daily update pictures. Woody loved her too, he was belly up by the end of the first day!”

“Eve was fantastic with my nervous dog Howard and took great care of him and sent regular pics and updates to let me know he was doing well, and even took him for a few walks with her dogs. Her communication was great and her own dogs and cat were sweet and accepting of Howard too. Eve is very friendly and made me feel comfortable that Howard was safe with her. I'll recommend her and will use her services again myself!”

I understand how important it is to keep them on their normal routine and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you're away. I also have experience dog sitting three dogs for an entire month, which taught me how to manage multiple pets at once while keeping up with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and giving each dog the attention they needed. I'm dependable, patient, and will treat your pets like they're my own. I'll provide plenty of love, exercise, and regular photo updates so you can feel confident that they're in good hands. While my backyard isn't fenced, all outdoor time is supervised, and dogs will always be kept on a leash to ensure their safety.
“Madison took care of our dog very well, her family was also very nice when we dropped her off. I’m hoping to use her in the near future. I felt Chanel had a good experience and felt love being around her and her family! Thank you for watching my old lady Chanel :)”

“Drew was soo good with Gemma and so very easy and personable to work with. Gemma came home unstressed and a little tired, which tells me she was able to relax while I was gone. Made my heart so happy! Drew was both curious and attentive in our chats about Gemma before drop-off, discussing her personality, quirks, and handling intros with other dogs. She sent great updates each day, and I loved hearing the details on Gemma interacting with the other dog Drew was caring for. She obviously cares and it shows. 10/10 . Thank you, Drew!! Gemma has two new friends <3”

“This was my first time needing to find someone to sit my baby. I was worried about leaving her with someone else but I was at ease knowing she wouldn't be alone and was in caring hands. Taylor was able to accommodate time changes on short notice and I could tell from meeting her she would take good care of my baby. I just know my pup have a fun filled stay with Taylor and I will be sure to come back to Taylor whenever I need boarding for my pup again!”

“Benny was so happy staying with Jenny for the weekend! He loved playing when her dogs and she sent lots of pictures of him playing and having a good time. She also really helped us out by watching him over the Christmas holiday and we'd love to use her again in the future.”

Samantha and her family are truly gifted at boarding doggos. A friend recommended Sam's service and I was able to drop off my chaweenie on short notice. She hunkered down, and fit right in. A few photos each day reassured me that Darlinda was perfectly happy at "camp," so I didn't feel guilty!!

Sidney took wonderful care of Scout! She was attentive, kept us updated, and sent pictures throughout his stay, which we really appreciated. We felt comfortable knowing Scout was in good hands and well cared for. We would happily recommend Sidney to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter!

This is our second time w Shannon and, like the last time, she was wonderful. My GSD gets food anxiety when she's boarded and Shannon reached out trying to work w me in finding ways that might prompt her to eat. Her concern was so appreciated. Gemma was well cared for and Shannon has a wonderful dog-friendly home. Thx again, Shannon, for taking such great care of Gemma 🐾💛

Amazing experience with Penny and Evan. I needed a last minute board for my nervous dog and they were extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about how to care for her with another large dog around. I was impressed by Penny's binder of questions and note taking, ensuring me that my dog would be well cared for.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
