“Both of our dogs loved Ashley and her family instantly! She and her family were so sweet, and we felt completely comfortable leaving them in her care! She was great about sending pictures and keeping me updated about how they were doing! We will definitely use her again and highly recommend her!”

“McKenanne was absolutely amazing with our dog, Peaches! She sent the cutest pics and video during her stay and it was clear that Peaches was having a blast! I’d recommend her to anyone that’s looking for a kind and reliable dog sitter.”

“My two dogs had a great time with Jody. She adapted to their schedule and gave them their meds as instructed. She sent pictures during their stay which was much appreciated. I would highly recommend Jody.”

“They looked like they had a great time! Was given plenty of attention and treats. Did not appear overly hungry or thirsty when we brought them back home telling me they were given plenty of food and water. Liked that Lydia has a fenced in back yard and appreciated the daily picture updates and video without me having to ask first. Was also able to get us in last minute and was very responsive. Would highly recommend!”

“They were absolutely wonderful and super nice. They took Reggie on short notice but gave him all sorts of love and cuddles. Their dogs upon first meeting did not react negatively with our dog and was not territorial at all. We got text notifications from them and they sent photos before bed to let us know how he’s doing. We felt super comfortable leaving our pup with them. If I lived in the Roanoke area they would absolutely be my number one choice every time! I cannot express how grateful I am for them.”

“She is someone who is incredibly devoted to animals; her dedication and love are boundless. I had the absolute best experience knowing that Mia was staying in a home filled with plenty of attention, patience, and love. Karlie is always in constant communication, too. She has dogs of her own, and they truly made Mia's stay much more fun, as Mia is super friendly. Mia returned home ready to sleep and rest after days filled with fun and endless running around—in fact, she didn't even want to leave, given how wonderfully she had been treated at Karlie's house!”

“Jenny is just the best! She treats Annie like one of her own and Annie feels like she is in a lovely fantastic vacation visiting all Of her best friends! Thank you for being so wonderful!”

“Shawn did an awesome job with my doodle. She sent a couple pictures each day while we were out of town. When we got home my doodle slept all day, I think she was exhausted from playing with Shawn’s 2 dogs. I will definitely use her again and highly recommend!”

“Kevin is very knowledgeable about dogs and was very patient with my American bulldog “Goose”. It was his first time being away from home and was scared and was being aggressive. Kevin worked with him and made him feel comfortable and part of the family. I feel 1000% comfortable leaving my dog in his care.”

“This was our first time using Rover. We last minute booked with Lexi and she was able to accommodate and watch our 12 week old puppy. We never worried about him once. She sent lots of updates with pictures and videos. On our way home we got a flat tire and Lexi was completely understanding and let us pick him up later then intended. Highly recommend her for others and we would definitely use her again!”

“This is the longest we have left LuLu at any sitter. We couldn't be more pleased with Rebecca's care. She sent pictures throughout the day every day. We could see that our dog was having a great vacation too!”

About: Hi, I’m Cindy! I’m currently a nursing student and work from home, which gives me the flexibility to provide your pet with plenty of attention, care, and companionship throughout the day. I’ve been caring for animals for years. I started pet sitting in high school, worked at a pet resort, and have continued pet sitting because it’s something I genuinely enjoy. Caring for animals has always been a passion of mine, and I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing fetch, cuddling on the couch, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’m happy to accommodate their individual needs. I’ll also send plenty of photo and video updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I have experience with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I also have a friendly Cane Corso, so if your pup enjoys being around other dogs, supervised playtime is an option. If your dog prefers their own space, I’m happy to accommodate that as well. As a mom of three boys who absolutely love animals, our home is full of love and attention. Your pet will be treated with the same care and affection as our own. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! Feel free to message me with any questions—I can’t wait to help care for your best friend. I work from home and am currently in nursing school, which gives me a flexible schedule to provide your pet with plenty of attention throughout the day. Whether it’s potty breaks, walks, playtime, feeding, or cuddle time, I’ll make sure your pet stays on their normal routine and receives lots of love and care while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a friendly Cane Corso who gets along well with other dogs, but I can easily separate pets if that’s what makes everyone most comfortable. I keep a clean, safe environment and closely supervise all interactions. I’ll also send regular photo and video updates so you always know how your furry family member is doing.
“Candace was a great sitter! Her parents were helpful as well. Cassie was in good hands and was well taken care of. We were so thankful they accommodated us picking up Cassie after our evening flight.”

“Michele was great and I highly recommend this Dog Vacay. She has the perfect house and large fenced yard for dogs to run around and play. She was particularly attentive to our dog's dietary needs and was tolerant of his barking. For these reasons I will definitely go back to her when we need a dog sitter!”

“Olivia always has been so wonderful to Gatsby. Always making sure Gatsby gets her exercise. The whole family has been so understanding and so delightful to see. We always trust Olivia and Samantha to keep Gatsby as she feels comfortable & so happy to stay with them. We all are so excited to visit her favorite dog sitter again! Thank you all!! -Stacie, Chris and Gatsby”

“Eve was fantastic with my nervous dog Howard and took great care of him and sent regular pics and updates to let me know he was doing well, and even took him for a few walks with her dogs. Her communication was great and her own dogs and cat were sweet and accepting of Howard too. Eve is very friendly and made me feel comfortable that Howard was safe with her. I'll recommend her and will use her services again myself!”

About: I've watched dogs and cats with all different personalities and needs (i.e. blind, diabetic, anxious, etc.). I believe in understanding a pet's needs from the perspective of the pet and responding with compassion. I work full time, but can usually work from home if needed. I will talk with you before we commit to pet sitting to ensure my schedule works for your needs (if that's getting off early, working from home every day during the time of the sitting, going home over lunch for a walk, etc). I have no fur babies (or kids) of my own, so your babies will get my undivided attention and I will shower them with all the love I wish I could give to my own fur baby if I had one. (Know I recognize that love looks different for different critters - for some it may mean keeping a respectful distance!)

“Mac & his dog Beaker were friendly & welcoming. Murphy was with them 2 nights before being picked up by my daughter-in-law. She reported an easy pickup & that Mac had everything ready to go. Mac had reported that Murphy fit right in.”

Samantha and her family are truly gifted at boarding doggos. A friend recommended Sam's service and I was able to drop off my chaweenie on short notice. She hunkered down, and fit right in. A few photos each day reassured me that Darlinda was perfectly happy at "camp," so I didn't feel guilty!!

Sidney took wonderful care of Scout! She was attentive, kept us updated, and sent pictures throughout his stay, which we really appreciated. We felt comfortable knowing Scout was in good hands and well cared for. We would happily recommend Sidney to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter!

This is our second time w Shannon and, like the last time, she was wonderful. My GSD gets food anxiety when she's boarded and Shannon reached out trying to work w me in finding ways that might prompt her to eat. Her concern was so appreciated. Gemma was well cared for and Shannon has a wonderful dog-friendly home. Thx again, Shannon, for taking such great care of Gemma 🐾💛

Amazing experience with Penny and Evan. I needed a last minute board for my nervous dog and they were extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about how to care for her with another large dog around. I was impressed by Penny's binder of questions and note taking, ensuring me that my dog would be well cared for.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
