Erin and Matthew were absolutely amazing! Our small dog takes a while to warm up to people but by the end of the trip they were best friends!! They sent constant picture updates and even snapped a beautiful Christmas photo of our babies! 1000% will rebook thank you for taking such good care of our pups!!

About: There have also been pets in my house and I have also made myself available to pet sit for friends and family. I am flexible in when and how to care for your smallest or largest family member. I am a runner so I would love to have a buddy join me on a run, jog, or even a walk. I can care for your pup at my house or your house which ever one you would be comfortable with. At the moment I can be open anytime of the week, and visiting houses multiple times in the day to ensure that your furry friend feelings loved and cared for throughout the day. Whether that's a potty break, a snack, or a big ole tummy rub. I’m a teacher on summer break though I do have a part time evening job that starts at 430 my husband comes home at 4 and probably loves dogs even more than me. I have a large fenced backyard and plenty of room in my house for exploring. We do have a small rescue Chihuahua, but she is friendly and very kind.

Candace did a great job with my dog Paisley. Her little tailwagger got along nicely with mine, and there were no rough spots. I would use her again.

About: I'm an active volunteer with a local animal shelter, where I work hands-on with dogs of many ages, sizes, temperaments, I have experience caring for shy, anxious, high-energy, and sensitive dogs, and I'm comfortable with reading canine body language, building trust, and providing calm, reliable care tailored to each dog's needs. Pet care is part of my regular routine through weekend availability when I'm off work. I plan my schedule around providing attentive, consistent care, including walks, feeding, enrichment and companionship, so each dog receives focused, unhurried attention. I care for pets by following their established routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medications if needed, and preferred activities. I take time to build trust, especially with shy or anxious pets, by moving at their pace and reading their body language. I prioritize safety, cleanliness, and calm, attentive interaction, whether that means exercise and playtime or quiet companionship. In a client's home, I respect their space and ensure pets feel comfortable and secure in their familiar environment.

I am always hesitant to leave my dogs at a kennel because of the thought of having them locked up in a kennel all day or getting sick from other dogs. I am so happy to have found Pam. Roscoe, my boxer, stayed with Pam during our beach vacation. I felt much more at ease on vacation knowing Roscoe was well taken care of and having a blast at her gorgeous home. I received updates with pictures each night. I would highly recommend her services for your dogs while you are away. From the adorable pictures of Roscoe taken by Pam while we were away, he made himself right at home. Thank you so much Pam!!

About: I love caring for dogs and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while their owners are away. I’m patient with dogs of all sizes and personalities and always follow feeding schedules, provide regular potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention so every dog feels at home. I currently have a very flexible schedule and am available most days of the week, including weekends. This allows me to give pets plenty of attention, regular potty breaks, walks, and playtime throughout the day. I’m happy to work with different schedules and last-minute bookings whenever possible I make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Since I don’t have a fenced yard, I take dogs on regular walks for exercise, potty breaks, and fresh air. I also provide plenty of attention, playtime, and follow the pet’s normal feeding schedule and routines. My goal is to make pets feel relaxed and at home while their owners are away.

Love love love love!!!! Kaylyn was so flexible with us while I was relocating from the east coast to the west coast. There were many hiccups and she rolled with everything so kindly. We arrived around 8:30 pm at night which isn't an ideal hour to meet a stranger and their dog. Duma has separation anxiety and they loved on him, took him on 3 walks a day, and gave him treats… needless to say, Duma was in heaven and was no longer worried about where I went. I trust Kaylyn and her family. They are communicative, kind, reliable, and trustworthy. I would highly recommend Kaylyn to anyone looking for a safe person to care for their dog.

About: I began volunteering at my local animal shelter at the age of 9 and have been caring for animals ever since. I have 20 years experience pet sitting for neighbors and I have my own 6 year old pitbull, Cleo, so I’m no stranger to energetic dogs. I’m a teacher, so my summers give me full flexibility to care for your animals! I love to walk dogs on local greenways and trails. I have a fenced in backyard where your dog can play. If they like to play with a buddy, my dog will be their best friend!

About: I’ve taken care of my own dog and watched my neighbors dog, making sure they are well fed, get enough time outside and feel loved while their families are away! I’m currently doing odd jobs over the summer and because of this, I am able to spend a lot of time with your pets! I will be out of the house periodically but will not be out longer than 3-4 hours at a time. I keep a clean and pet-friendly environment at home with plenty of space to relax and a backyard to run around and enjoy time outside. My family will also love spending time with your pet and giving them lots of attention!

Maribel welcomed Rocky into her home and kept him happy and active while he was in her care. Maribel has a farm with lots of room to run, animals to fascinate, and even a river to play in. I could tell from the pictures and Rocky's interaction with Maribel and her family that he was well cared for and had a great time, too. She'll be on top of my list of sitters to reach out to in the future.

About: The house my parents moved into when I was only 4 weeks old was unfortunately a dumping ground for unwanted animals. Before I could even walk, I was cuddling with any animal that showed up at our door. This instilled a passion within me that I can finally turn into a profession. From Rescue and fostering to training dogs and showing horses, animals have always been a huge part of my life. In addition to my Management degree, I have an Associate of Science Degree with a major in Animal Science and a specialization in Agriculture. I completed an AKC handlers’ course which focused on reading your dog’s body language to understand their needs. Being so heavily involved in rescue, I have history and experience in dealing with reactive and/or selective dogs. I have many safety features depending on the animals needs including crates, double hung baby gates and 6 ft chain link fence that is separated into two yards. After a successful 25year business management career, I am now turning my lifetime passion of animal care into a profession. This year I started up my own business, "G'MA DOES". I offer a range of services from dog walking and pet sitting to animal waste removal. I like to stay active! While I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from multiple trainers, what I hold most dear is the ongoing information I take in from animal behaviorists such as Cesar Millan. Remember, when you first meet a strange dog practice NO TOUCH, NO TALK, NO EYE CONTACT! *LICENSED, INSURED, AND ACCREDITED WITH THE BBB!* (GMA Does, LLC) In my house we call it "FURniture" for a reason. However, I also believe all dogs (like children) needs rules, boundries and limitations. I find puppies, adolescent, and destructive dogs are actually happier if they are contained in my absense. Whether that means crated or in an outdoor yard depends entirely up to what they are used to. I offer personal in-home boarding so they feel my house is their "home away from home". I will maintain their normal routine as close to if not exactly. I have multiple crates in a range of sizes so if your baby is used to being crated, I got you covered! I also have baby gate hinges at every doorway to use as needed. My entire backyard is about a half an acre that is fenced in with a 6 ft chain length fence. I have it separated into two secured areas for exercise with the larger of the two having access to a dog door. Inside, one room is a dedicated cat room for litterboxes toys etc. The other two bedrooms will be dedicated safe spaces used for play, overnight stays, or whatever the situation calls for.

Gretchen is wonderful!! We met before I left Skippy with her. She answered all my questions and Skippy acted comfortable with her. She was kept me informed on how Skippy was doing which included pictures of him. When I went to pick Skippy up he was happy to see me but he also seemed happy to stay if I left him. He's been home for 24 hours now and I swear he misses Gretchen. I've already told Gretchen that we will be seeing her again.

About: I have a lifelong love for animals and 15 years of experience caring for pets. I bring a deep understanding of animal behavior and compassionate care to every pet I meet. I grew up with animals and currently have a three-year-old dog whom I trained myself, making me confident in basic obedience training. I have hands-on experience with dogs, including basic training, socialization, and understanding canine body language. I’ve also cared for multiple cats and appreciate their independent yet affectionate nature. From playtime and snuggles to maintaining feeding routines and administering medication when needed, I strive to make every pet feel comfortable and safe while their owner is away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I treat every animal as if they were my own—with kindness, respect, and plenty of love. Whether your pet needs active engagement, gentle companionship, or a structured routine, I’m here to provide the care they deserve. As a full-time graduate student in a virtual program, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide attentive and consistent care for your pets. Whether it's daily walks, playtime, or overnight boarding, I have plenty of time to give your pet the love and attention they deserve. I’m available for boarding both during the week and on weekends, making it easy to accommodate your travel or work schedule. With the ability to be home throughout the day, I can ensure your pet gets regular companionship, exercise, and care. Whether they need structured routines or just lots of cuddles, I’m here to keep them happy and comfortable while you're away. I provide a loving and secure environment for pets in my home, with a fully fenced-in yard where dogs can play safely. I also have a friendly, well-socialized three-year-old poodle who enjoys the company of other dogs, making for great companionship if your pup enjoys socializing. I tailor care to each pet’s needs—whether that means plenty of playtime, structured routines, or a quiet space to relax. If needed, I can easily crate your dog for sleeping or downtime to match their usual routine. My goal is to make your pet feel at home while ensuring they are safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: I had lots of pets growing up and have my own furst born (Carmen) which has given me a ton of experience caring for animals. In our house, we love going to the dog park and taking long walks. My dog Carmen is very friendly and can’t wait to make a new pal! Whatever the needs of your dog are, I’m excited to learn how I can best care for them while they stay with us. I work from home every day which gives me a ton of flexibility to go for walks and hang at the dog park or make time for any other activity that your dog enjoys. There are 200 sitters on Rover for Pet Boarding in Vinton. About 92% of Vinton sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
