“Sharon was great with our harley she helped out with walking her and getting her use to going out at night again. Sharon kept us informed of everything that was going on with harley and how she was doing and sent us pics. We will definitely use her again.”

“Great sitter for our two spoiled dogs! We were on an international trip and Zoe was very flexible and able to do overnights which eased our minds with a 14 week old puppy. Will use again!”

“Hannah did such a great job taking care of our dog and our home. Our dog is aging and a bit anxious and Hannah was very patient with her. She left our home need and tidy, we would welcome her help anytime!”

“Wanda and Steve are FABULOUS! I have 5 dogs and they all love them. Great communication. Take great care of my home too. Watered plants and I have a ton. So nice to come home to happy dogs, a clean house and plants alive and well in 90+degree temperatures. I couldn't be more pleased.”

“Elizabeth was absolutely wonderful! She stayed at our home and took incredible care of our two fur babies. The house was kept in immaculate condition, and we could tell our pets were well-loved and comfortable while we were away. She sent us great updates and photos throughout our trip, which gave us so much peace of mind. She was also extremely accommodating when my flights were delayed and cancelled. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter—highly recommend!”

“Trina did amazing!! She kept us updated with any concerns and/or questions she had along with sending us pictures, which we appreciated! It was super late when we got home, so didn’t get to see her but Max was sound asleep, which makes us know that he was very comfortable! We will definitely be reaching out to Trina again!! We know Max likes to bark, so hopefully if she’s available, she’ll watch him again!! 😀”
“Madalyn is always great with my geriatric dog. She was willing to learn about his diabetic needs and is always so good with him. She even left me beautiful flowers for me to come home to! Highly recommend. 💕”

“Machalah did a wonderful job caring for our two dogs (one who is a senior) & cat while we were out of town. She regularly sent picture updates; my fur babies obviously received lots of TLC. Machalah also left the house very neat. Will definitely use Machalah’s services again.”

“Shan was seriously amazing. She went above and beyond when there was an emergency with our pipes leaking and she took such great care of our dogs. I wouldn’t hesitate one bit to have her as a sitter again. Thank you Shan!”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for over 10 years and have a lifelong love for animals. As a dog owner myself with two dogs at home, I understand how important it is to find someone who will care for your pets the same way you do. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet loves long walks, playing fetch, cuddling on the couch, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’m committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, administering basic medications, potty breaks, exercise, and providing plenty of attention and affection. I also know how reassuring it is to receive updates, so I’ll send photos and messages throughout your pet’s stay or visit to give you peace of mind. My goal is to create a fun, safe, and stress-free experience for both you and your pet. I treat every animal as if they were my own, and I can’t wait to meet your furry family members! I currently do work full time but I do create my own schedule and am pretty flexible so we can work around the hours needed for you and your pet! I do currently have two male dogs who are 8 and 9 years old. They both are very friendly and very playful. They play with puppies and older dogs very well and they’re very diverse with sizes of dogs who they are around. If your dog is aggressive to other male dogs, this won’t be a good fit for you. However, i’m happy to have an introduction to make sure everyone is comfortable. We tend to take a lot of walks and play ball in the yard throughout the day. During the summer we swim in the pop up pool we have for the boys and get the zooms out!
About: Hi! My name is Marissa and I am an animal lover, pet mom, and full-time teacher. I am looking for some additional income and would love to help take care of your fur baby while you are away on vacation or at work. While I do not have a lot of experience pet sitting, I have had pets my entire life and am currently a pet mom to my cat, Malachi. I am always the one that my friends/family go to if they need a pet sitter or help with their pets. I have a flexible schedule and would have plenty of time to spend time with and get to know your wonderful pet. I can't wait to hear from you and get to know your special fur baby/babies! I am currently a full time teacher, meaning I am able to care for your animal early mornings and I am off early afternoon so your pet will not have to wait until evening for care! I also have most common break/vacation times (thanksgiving, Christmas, summer, long weekends) off and have a more flexible schedule during those times. I will care for your pet as if it were my own! I make sure your pet is fed and taken care of, but I would also love to spend time with your pet so they are not lonely while you are away.

About: I have taken care of pets and houses for friends and family on many occasions and would love to care for your pets while you’re away. I will be available as often as needed to take care of your pets. I can be flexible to work with you for your pet’s needs. I feed and walk my dog and my past clients dogs twice daily. Additionally, I provide enrichment play for both cats and dogs each day I watch them.

About: Hi, I’m McKayla! I’m a dependable and caring pet sitter and dog walker based in Roanoke. I have a genuine love for animals and focus on making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. Pet care is a consistent part of my weekly routine. I schedule my days around check-ins, walks, feeding times, and playtime to make sure each pet gets reliable and timely care. I stay flexible so I can meet each client’s needs. I provide care in my client’s home to keep pets comfortable in their familiar environment. I follow their normal routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medication if needed, and lots of attention. I also make sure their space stays clean, safe, and calm.
“As always, Gena was incredible. We were out of the country for almost 2 full weeks, and came home to a perfect home and the happiest fur babies. We feel so at peace leaving our pets and our home with Gena. ❤️”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’m the kind of person who immediately gravitates toward the family pet at gatherings. I have hands-on experience caring for pets with a variety of needs. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, walks, giving basic medications, snuggles, and cleaning up accidents so that you and your pet feel taken care of while you're away! I work a 40-hour, Monday through Friday (8-5) job that allows hour-long breaks to pop in during the day and take care of your pet. After-work, weekends, and bank holidays, I'm generally free to spend hours playing, snuggling, or just keeping your pet company. I'm happy to meet up beforehand to see if your pet and I are a good match. I'm happy to follow any instructions or preferences on their care to keep their routines and make everyone feel as safe as possible. I love sending notes and photo updates so you can feel connected!

Amelia was wonderful. She took great care of our dog in our home, kept us updated, and shared pictures throughout the stay. Sam looked happy and content, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We would absolutely recommend Amelia and would gladly book with her again!

Gabrielle was absolutely fantastic as our dog sitter and house sitter for 4 nights. From the very beginning, she was incredibly easy to communicate with and responded instantly , which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She took wonderful care of our dog and our home, and it was clear that she genuinely cared and paid attention to every detail. We came home to a happy, well cared for pup, and everything in perfect shape. We are so thankful for Gabrielle’s help and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and caring sitter. We would absolutely book with her again!

Jessica was patient and caring while housesitting for our rescue pup, who has lots of anxiety. She minimized stress as much as possible, taking her cues from our dog. We felt relieved and were able to enjoy our trip knowing that Jessica was making sure our pup was safe and cared for.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Vinton on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 406 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vinton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vinton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vinton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vinton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Vinton. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
